Scenic Garden – An exquisite example of a garden with artificial hills and a pond –（名勝庭園）
The origin of this garden, which is said to have been the favorite style of Sen-no Rikyu, the master of tea ceremony, was made in Shounzen-ji Temple (a predecessor of Chishakuin Temple) established by Hideyoshi Toyotomi. Later, after the temple was renamed Chishakuin, the 7th generation head monk, Unsho, took good care of the garden and transformed it into of the best gardens in the Higashiyama district. ・・・・・
「利休好みの庭」と伝えられるこの庭園は、豊臣秀吉公が建立した祥雲禅寺（しょううんぜんじ・智積院の前身のお寺）時代に原形が造られました。
その後、智積院になってからは、第七世運敞（うんしょう）僧正が修復し、東山随一の庭と言われるようになります。
築山・泉水庭の先駆をなした貴重な遺産といわれ、中国の盧山をかたどって土地の高低を利用して築山を造り、その前面に池を掘るとともに、山の中腹や山裾に石組みを配して変化を付けています。

智積院の名勝庭園の後、少し時間が余ったので山内の青モミジを見て回りました。
紅葉の時期に何度か訪れた場所ですが、一部工事中で雰囲気が変わっていました。

京都 総本山智積院✕桔梗 2018 京都市 Bellflower in Chishakuin temple Kyoto Japan

智積院（ちしゃくいん）は、京都市東山区にある真言宗智山派総本山の寺院である。山号を五百佛山（いおぶさん）、寺号を根来寺（ねごろじ）という。本尊は金剛界大日如来、開基は玄宥である。智山派の大本山寺院としては、千葉県成田市の成田山新勝寺（成田不動）、神奈川県川崎市の川崎大師平間寺（初詣の人出で例年日本一を争う）及び東京都八王子市の高尾山薬王院がある。寺紋は桔梗紋。
祇園祭の宵宮を見に京都に行ったのですが、夕方まで時間があるので東山の智積院に桔梗を見に立ち寄りました。流石にこの時期は枯れた花が目立ちます。部分的に選んでマクロでの撮影が主体になりました。
京都の最高気温は38度を越え今年一番の気温になりました・・・。この後は冷房の効いた大型店舗に退避して宵宮が始まるのを待ちました。

東福寺の撮影が午前中に終わったので少し時間があり、七条の智積院を尋ねました。
こちらの紅葉は１０年ほど前はまだ植えたばかりの幼木でしたが、立派に成長して来ています。観光バスが発着して賑わっていました。それでも有名寺院に比べればまだ空いていて入場無料で三脚可能・綺麗な紅葉を見ることが出来るおすすめの場所です。
小春日和の穏やかな日でしたので、BGMも温かみのあるものにしてみました・・・。

嵐山にある天龍寺の紅葉です。土日は朝7時半より開門されるため、その時間から撮影に行ってきました。生憎の曇り空でしたが、時折日光がさしてきました。

Aoba Matsuri at the Chishaku-in Temple, Kyoto 【HD】
The Aoba Matsuri, or Green Leaves Festival is held every year in the Chishaku-in Temple, in Kyoto, Japan. In this ancient ritual, followers of the Shingon-shu Buddhist sect called Yamabushi, that have been training for a long time in the mountains participate in a series of ceremonies.
First, we see a short procession with the participants. After a short pause, the main event takes places at the Saito Goma-Dojo. Here, shooting 5 sacred arrows (4 in the cardinal points and one to the Kimon Houkaku) they purify the dojo and then burn the sacred bonfire.
On this day, there are also Traditional dance performances and a little Market called Mandala Ichi.

[4K] 光明院 京都の紅葉 京都の庭園 Komyo-in Temple Autumn Leaves [4K] The Garden of Kyoto Japan
光明院・東福寺の塔頭です。撮影時、朝から法要が執り行われていました。お経が庭園内で響き渡り、とても良い感じでした。
東福寺の塔頭で虹の苔寺として知られています。見どころは、重森三玲によって作庭された“波心庭”と称される枯山水庭園。迫力ある石組みの背後にもみじが降りかかり、美しいコントラストを織り成します。座ってじっくり眺めたい名庭です。

Komyo-in, one of Tofuku-ji's sub-temples, has a good modern karesansui (dry landscape garden) that was laid out by Shigemori Mirei in 1939. Shigemori designed the garden with three Buddhist triads and many rocks that are placed on lines drawn from the large stone in the middle of the garden. Those lines are likened to rays from the Buddha.

近所の植え込みにサツキが咲き出したので京都の寺院を調べていたら智積院が見つかりました。いつもモミジの時期に訪れているのですが、名勝庭園もサツキも初めてです。
思ったより広い庭園でした。入り口にあった大きな建物が無くなっていたのにはびっくりです。
