Views Around the City of Prague, Czech Republic - July, 2015
Prague (Czech: Praha) is the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic. It is the 15th largest city in the European Union. It is also the historical capital of Bohemia. Situated in the north-west of the country on the Vltava River, the city is home to about 1.24 million people, while its larger urban zone is estimated to have a population of nearly 2 million. The origin of the name Praha is rather associated with the word prah (that means a 'threshold'), which is a rapid on the river. Prague is home to a number of famous cultural attractions, many of which survived the violence and destruction of 20th-century Europe. Main attractions include the Prague Castle, the Charles Bridge, Old Town Square with the Prague astronomical clock, the Jewish Quarter, Petřín hill and Vyšehrad. Since 1992, the extensive historic centre of Prague has been included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. To read more about Prague, click here: .

Church of St Nicolas, Prague, Czech Republic
The church built 1703-1760 is the best example of High Baroque in town. The altar features a lavish gold plated Nicholas, flanked by the two top Jesuits: the founder, St. Ignatius Loyola, and his missionary follower, St. Francis Xavier. This painting technique creates a play of light and dark and represents a central Baroque belief: The world is full of darkness, and only hope that makes it come alive emanates from God. The church walls seem to nearly fuse with the sky, suggesting that happenings on earth are closely connected to heaven.

The Fairytale City, Prague: Church of Our Lady before Tyn, Castle Hill, and Lennon Wall!
I know. My Prague trip vlog is fucking boring. I sometimes forget to take clips, and other times I'd rather take in the experience without the camera on my hand all the time, and the rest of the times I'm just too damn lazy...
We went on easter weekend (March 30-April 1). Unfortunately, most of the places we wanted to visit were either closed or under reconstruction:
- Prague Astronomical Clock
- Prague National Gallery
- Church of Our Lady before Týn
- Old Jewish Cemetery
- Strahov Monastery
I hope you folks had better luck than us. The days we went were probably not the best (didn't really think about it too much when we were planning, to be honest). However, since it was the easter weekend, there were markets everywhere. Highlight of them were definitely trying out their Trdelník (chimney cake)!!
This trip is actually part 6 of my Europe travels (disregarding the UK for now). So far, I've gone to (in order):
1) Barcelona, Spain
2) Paris, France
3) Rome, Italy
Pisa, Italy
Florence, Italy
4) Amsterdam, The Netherlands
5) Brussels, Belgium
Brügge, Belgium
I would have loved to show my trips in these places, buuut refer back to the beginning of this note. Haha
Next up is my trips to Vienna and Budapest, since these three were gone to consecutively.
