Oklahoma City—Oklahoma City Repertory Theatre continues their Twelfth Season with the the revealing drama, RED. This production provides a rare glimpse of an artist through the lens of his relationship with his naïve young assistant, who must choose between appeasing his mentor—and changing the course of art history. When his assistant challenges his artistic integrity, Rothko must confront his own demons or be crushed by the ever-changing art world he helped create. While the name Rothko may not have been a part of your consciousness, his works surely have. The acclaimed Donmar Warehouse production transferred to Broadway and won 6 Tony Awards, including Best Play of 2010.This production is rated R
Starring in the CityRep production are D. Lance Marsh (August:Osage County, Hay Fever, Our Town and Moonlight and Magnolias) as artist Mark Rothko and Chicago-based actor Aaron Werthiem (Lysistrta and The Last Night of Ballyhoo) as his young assistant, Ken. RED is Directed by CityRep Artistic Associate Michael Jones; Set Design is by Ben Hall; Costume Design is by Andy Wallach; Lighting Design is by Kathryn Eader; Sound Design is by Will Burns and Steve Emerson; and Properties Design and Hair and Makeup Design is by Suzette Collins Sroufe. Steve Emerson is the Production Stage Manager.
RED will be presented in the Freede Little Theatre in the Civic Center Music Hall located at 201 N. Walker in downtown Oklahoma City. When stripper-on-the-run Pippi comes between Dr. Phil-loving agoraphobic Jeannie and her tollbooth collector husband Morbert, the storm begins to rumble—and we ain't talking just any ol' Florida hurricane! The script is cheeky and the score is infectious. This production is rated R.
Featured in the production is Renee Anderson as Jeanie, Jim Johnson as Norbert, Allyson L. Ridley as Pippi and Brandon Lonza as Buck; with the Greek Chorus of Cassie Carroll and Kelli Cormack headed by Barb Schoenhofer.

Founded in 1972 by Ballet Russe dancers Yvonne Chouteau and Miguel Terekhov, Oklahoma City Ballet has been the city's professional ballet company for over 40 years. For most of the 20th century Oklahoma’s state capitol remained “unfinished,” the majestic cast-in-place concrete dome its designers envisioned never built. But as Oklahoma approached its 2007 centennial, a symphony of music and fireworks burst over the new Oklahoma State Capitol Dome as 16,000 cheering fans celebrated the dedication.
Thousands of fireworks blazed across the sky, illuminating the new Capitol dome and The Guardian, the American Indian statue that stands atop the dome.
