Coney Island (Cincinnati, OH) 2015
Established in 1886, Coney Island in Cincinnati, Ohio is one of the oldest amusement parks operating in the United States. The park is located close to the Ohio River, and has had its share of flooding over the years. This frequent flooding led to the construction of Kings Island, 25 miles miles north of Cincinnati, which opened in 1972. Fortunately, Coney Island is still around for us to enjoy. Admission is free, but if you want to ride, you can purchase a ride wristband for $14.50. Parking is $8. Adjacent to the amusement park is Sunlite Pool, complete with water slides, and is available for a separate fee. Filmed Wednesday, July 22, 2015.

Coney Island - Sunlight Pool Spot
Coney Island, Cincinnati's premier classic amusement park, and O Graphic Design hired 7/79 to update and refresh their existing broadcast television commercials for the HD broadcast era. Their existing spots were created from a mixture of SD telecinied 16mm film, Betacam, and some existing HD video. The main goal for us in creating the new spots was to replace all outdated standard definition footage with newly acquired HD fooatge.
7/79 shot some of the park's newest rides and attractions in 1080p HD, re-edited the spots, and created 3 new 30 second spots that are all comprised of HD footage. We even recreated the classic Coney Has It! bumper animation in HD to match the new look of the spots.

Coney Island hosts international fireworks competi
ANDERSON, Ohio (WKRC) -- The night sky will light this weekend up over Lake Como in Anderson Township.
The Fire Up the Night international fireworks competition kicks off Saturday at Coney Island.
For one night, teams from Spain, Japan, and Germany will compete for bragging rights for the best display, and it wraps up with a big finale by Rozzi's.
Gates open at four and the competition begins at 8:30 Saturday night.
Nancy Rozzie, President of Rozzi Fireworks, said, You have to realize the cultures of the competing countries are so different from ours, and their interpretation, and the way they view fireworks as an entertainment is different from the united states. So, that was really the reason that we wanted to bring this to Cincinnati because we have found that people in Cincinnati love fireworks.
This is the third year for this event.
A team from Canada took gold the first year. Portugal took the top prize last year.

Coney Island opened its first roller coaster, called Dip The Dips, in 1911. That was just one milestone in a long history of fun attractions at the park where Walt Disney used to visit to get ideas for Disneyland. Now, 108 years later, Coney is closing its rides for good.

Coney Island is a peninsular residential neighborhood, beach, and leisure/entertainment destination on the Atlantic Ocean in the southwestern part of the borough of Brooklyn, New York City. The site was formerly an outer barrier island, but became partially connected to the mainland by land fill. The residential portion of the peninsula is a community of 60,000 people in its western part, with Sea Gate to its west, Brighton Beach and Manhattan Beach to its east, the Atlantic Ocean to the south, and Gravesend to the north. ⁴ᴷ The 36th Annual Coney Island Mermaid Parade 2018 - New York City
The Coney Island Mermaid Parade, held annually in Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York, is the largest art parade in the United States. The parade is held each year in June and celebrates the arrival of the summer season. Created and produced by the non-profit arts organization Coney Island USA, the 37th annual parade will be held Saturday, June 22, 2019. The Mermaid Parade traditionally takes place on the Saturday closest to the Summer solstice, June 21, regardless of weather. Its intent is to celebrate self-expression, boost pride in the Coney Island district, and give New York artists a place to display their artwork. There are no ethnic, religious, or commercial aims.
The parade pays homage to the Coney Island Mardi Gras parades of the early 20th century. During this era, Coney Island was the primary amusement park destination for those in the New York area. Like the annual Village Halloween Parade, the Mermaid Parade evokes the artistic spirit of Mardi Gras. The event typically attracts about 3,000 participants and hundreds of thousands of spectators from all five boroughs of New York. Some spectators travel to Coney Island's beach to escape the heat that often occurs during the beginning of summer. The mermaid parade is the largest art parade in the United States.

Cincinnati is Ohio's third largest city and the largest metro region. It lies on the north bank of the Ohio River in Southwest Ohio in the United States of America. Known as the Queen City or Queen of the West, Cincinnati was the only 19th century American city that left a favorable impression on the then 30-year-old English author Charles Dickens. “Cincinnati is a beautiful city; cheerful, thriving, and animated,” Dickens wrote in “American Notes.” “I have not often seen a place that commends itself so favorably and pleasantly to a stranger at the first glance as this does: with its clean houses of red and white, its well-paved roads, and foot-ways of bright tile. Washington is an up and coming economically diverse neighborhood located on Cincinnati's east side.
Northside is an economically and racially diverse neighborhood notable for a strong sense of community investment and pride. Oakley is an up and coming neighborhood that borders Hyde Park. ver-the-Rhine (OTR) is the city's historic district. Price Hill is one of Cincinnati’s oldest neighborhoods, first settled in 1789 and named Price Hill in the 1870s after General Rees Price. West End the little bit that survived of this once large densely populated neighborhood would not be notable for travelers except for the Dayton Street Historic District. Riverfront/The Banks This is a newly developed area in downtown Cincinnati that falls between Great American Ballpark home of the Reds. Newport and Covington Though these neighborhoods are actually across the river in Kentucky.

KING'S ISLAND:
Kings Island is a 364-acre (147 ha) amusement park located 24 miles (39 km) northeast of Cincinnati in Mason, Ohio. Owned and operated by Cedar Fair, the park first opened in 1972 by the Taft Broadcasting Company. It was part of a larger effort to move and expand Coney Island, a popular resort destination along the banks of the Ohio River that was prone to frequent flooding. After more than $300 million in capital investments,[4] the park features over 100 attractions including fourteen roller coasters and a 33-acre (13 ha) water park.
Early in its history, Kings Island has appeared in popular sitcoms and received widespread recognition for its record-breaking attractions and events. One of the park's most well-known attractions, The Racer, is often credited with reviving worldwide interest in roller coasters during the 1970s. Others, such as The Beast and Banshee, have set several world records, some of which remain standing. The largest investment in park history is Orion, a giga coaster scheduled to open in 2020. The park has also suffered through times of negative publicity, particularly surrounding the early demise of roller coasters The Bat and Son of Beast.
Kings Island is divided into several themed sections and operates seasonally from early spring through the fall, partially reopening for Winterfest during the holiday season. In 2017, Kings Island was the second-most visited seasonal amusement park in the United States behind Cedar Point, with an estimated 3.47 million visitors. It was third overall for seasonal attendance in North America, which was led by Canada's Wonderland. In addition, Kings Island has won Golden Ticket Awards from Amusement Today for having the Best Kids' Area in the world for eighteen consecutive years (2001–2018) as well as “Best New Ride” in 2017 for Mystic Timbers.
