HUGE thank you to Oshóva and his powerful music: Summer's Tides
We love to travel with our kids and Old Town San Diego is one of the best places in Southern California to take a young family for some fun free and/or some almost free activities. Our adventure started in Solana Beach California about 35-minutes outside of the downtown San Diego area - We jumped on the Coaster Train - Tickets are $11 per adult and kids 5 and under are free to ride.
The Coaster train takes you directly into downtown San Diego - but the second to last stop before downtown San Diego will drop you at the Old Town San Diego district. a short 5 minute walk and you are in the center of the action in Historic Old Town San Diego. There's plenty of shops, restaurants, and fun areas to explore in Old Town. We stopped by the famous Cousins Candy Shop, Candle Shop, Cigar Shop, Toy Shop, Olive Oil Store, and Barro Barro Saloon restaurant. Taco Tuesdays are only $3 tacos and kids eat free with a paid adult entree. So much to explore and so much fun free things to do in Old Town San Diego. Thanks for exploring and adventuring with us!

The Best Coffee Shop in San Diego: Koffee Kat!
The Best Coffee Shop in San Diego: Koffee Kat!
Hey everybody! I’m showcasing my favorite places around San Diego and because I started drinking coffee this year and now start every day with a cup of it, I thought I’d make my first blog about a great place called Koffee Kat. Koffee Kat is a couple of blocks away from my house and I walk there almost everyday, it’s my favorite.
The Best Coffee Shop in San Diego: Koffee Kat!
The coffee is amazing, there’s no bitter taste at the end of every sip. And the people working there are the best and are so sweet!
I attribute the awesomeness to the owner, Alex Goulart and his love for delicious food, and of course Koffee! You can tell when you walk in that what he serves is more than just pouring water over some Koffee grounds, or throwing a dish together.
The Best Coffee Shop in San Diego: Koffee Kat!
So I asked him where this love of great food and Koffee came from! He told me that he grew up in South America and was raised by an amazing mother who loved to cook she was inspired by Brazilian, Lebonese, and French foods! The food that she made was always fresh, and delicious and he brought that love of food with the Brazilian, Lebonese and French influences with him to San Diego!
The Best Coffee Shop in San Diego: Koffee Kat!
When you visit, you’ll notice the menu has an assortment of options that is perfect for breakfast, lunch or a sweet for desert! So next time you find yourself around Cass Street in PB, stop by Koffee Kat and check them out!

Old Town, California (San Diego) with Kids Adventures with Sweetie Fella Aleks
The culture and history of a city and state await to be discovered in Old Town.San Diego Avenue is the main street in Old Town and home to San Diego's first commercial theater, the former county courthouse and many other historic buildings. One of the most famous addresses on the street is the Whaley House, which is believed to be the most haunted place in the nation. Aleks Sweetie Fella also did the ghost tour (NEXT VIDEO):)
A trip to Old Town is not complete with out sampling the authentic regional cuisine. Many of the restaurants have developed their menus with genuine recipes from the early history of the area. It is a perfect place for shopping - and yes we did some shopping:)

Obsessed Monster Truck At The San diego County Fair 6-30-2012
out of this world san diego county fair obessed monster truck at the 1 pm show doing some wheelies. Eric was born in 1995. His whole life has been around Monster Trucks. Even in the womb Eric's Dad Rick read him Monster Truck stories. He went to his first event at 8 weeks old. He has always enjoyed motorsports and when he was little we actually thought he thought he was a Monster Truck. He loved racing against his cousins over pillows posed as cars and checkered flags tucked in their pockets yelling at the top of their lungs almost as loud as the real monster truck engines. At five years old he got his first dirt bike. Riding and handling the bike was second nature to him. He started racing it the year after he got the motorcycle. Of course Dad couldn't leave it stock. He added an 88cc kit, pipe, carburetor, rev chip, shock, swing arm, oil filled forks (just a few things). He didn't need it he was winning all his races without. But fast is always more fun! Eric continued racing and taking first place in his series in the fast 50's class. He earned his very own sponsor (LBZ) and was a real sportsman. For his 8th Birthday he got a RM65. He raced both bikes for awhile and won a championship.
When Eric was 11 years old he got to experience what it was like to drive his Dad's Monster truck. He even got to drive over cars! Everyone was impressed that an 11 year old could maneuver such a big machine skillfully. We made sure all safety precautions were in place. For his twelfth Birthday we gave him a trophy kart. We had it painted and wrapped to match Obsession. He has done numerous events in it for all different promoters. They have had him freestyle at monster truck events and he is the only trophy truck to have cleared three cars! He continues to show his driving talent with the way he can run against modified trophy karts and still take fist place. Our second truck Obsessed is completed and was built for Eric. He will be the youngest monster truck driver to compete. He can fully de-tire the monster truck and load and unload it. We just can't wait until he gets his license to drive the big rig! Then we'll be set! He is excited to freestyle for the first time at the California State fair in October of 2009. We are confident that he will be an excellent Monster Truck driver. We are just happy he is able to fulfill his dreams!
Rick's Obsession started with building a 1970 Ford Bronco. This was Rick's first vehicle. He purchased it from his Grandfather while in high school. He fixed it up to take it off road. One day he realized that it cost more than his paycheck to keep up this sport. He decided he would fix it up and take it to car shows. One day Rick was pulled over by a feature editor of Four Wheel Magazine. He wanted to do an article on the Bronco. Having the truck in magazines and showing the Bronco was much more profitable. He acquired sponsors for the truck and progressed from then on. The Bronco was show material only and wasn't street legal when Rick had finished modifying it. He then purchased a full size Bronco to trailer the 1970 Bronco to shows. He also fixed up the full size Bronco to show. After showing the trucks for many years, Rick decided he wanted to build a Monster Truck. He sold the full size Bronco to pay for the frame, axels and four link bars. This was the beginning of Obsession. At the time Rick managed a printed circuit board shop owned by his father, while building the truck. He also worked for a trucking company to make money for the rest of the parts for the truck. Rick needed a name for the truck. He asked his wife Jill what she thought would be a good name? She said, why don't you call it Obsession, since your Obsessed with trucks. For the color scheme Rick new he wanted yellow, but couldn't decide what colors he wanted to go with it. They had a party and Jill looked at the plates and the colors were purple, yellow and teal. They thought that they went well together and that is how they chose those colors. In 2006 we changed sponsors and with that we changed the trucks color scheme to blue in yellow and we are currently running those colors on both trucks.
Rick and Jill have been successfully running the monster truck business since 1994. The first year they did about 10 events. They are now up to 35 weekends per year. In August of 2009 we completed our second truck Obsessed. Our first two truck event was in August of 2009. The Obsessed truck was built for our son Eric. His first event in his truck will be in October of 2009. Unfortunately not all promoters can have him drive at their events until he reaches the age of 18. In the mean time Rick will drive Obsessed and our good friend Jeff Jones will be driving Obsession at our two truck events. We are happy and blessed that we are able to work as a family and with great friends. Some people may think they are a little Obsessed, but we are grateful to be fulfilling our dreams

Dog-friendly Wine Tasting in Temecula, CA
After a couple nights in Las Vegas (vlog still to follow), my cousin, her boyfriend, and I had a free day and our cousin, who lives in Wildomar, suggested we go wine tasting. Wine-making in southern California is taking off and is giving northern California - the likes of Napa and Sonoma - a run for their money. It's a very different experience to the the one I had in the Chianti region of Italy but still a good and enjoyable experience nonetheless. This place is also dog friendly ! ENJOY!
