Curt Gowdy State Park - Beautiful Campsite C171 - Park Travel Review
We drove across Wyoming from Gros Ventre campground in Grand Teton National Park to Curt Gowdy State Park near Cheyenne on our way home. The area around this state park is one that we certainly want to head back to explore more when we have time dedicated to it.
Google Maps states that it takes 6.5 hours to drive across the state. It was a great day for driving and for stopping to see what we could find along the way. That is what vacations are for, after all.
If you plan to stay at Crystal Reservoir, please know that you will be driving on gravel roads to get to your campsite. The lake is beautiful and the campsites are well laid out. The bathrooms were clean pit toilets. We had a 30 amp electric site. It was site C171.

Primitive camping at hook-up prices...$17/night. But the view from my campsite was incredible so I stayed 2 nights.
I thought this was a fishing spot for locals et al...but there seemed to be more water and jet skiing going on than fishing.
Do they have crawfish is Wyoming? I bumped into something that looked lobsterish. lol. I still spent a lot of time in the water

DescriptionVideo of the Warren Rest House. Francis E. Warren donated the money for this park shelter house to be built in Cheyenne, Wyoming in memory of his first wife who died in 1902. I video taped this building to show people in Springfield, Ohio, an existing shelter house similar to the one that no longer exists in the big playground at Snyder Park (close to the tennis courts).

Why Cheyenne? The truth about the wind...Cheyenne Weather
***The information contained herein is deemed accurate but not guaranteed***
We are often asked about the wind in Cheyenne.
Yes, the wind blows hard in Cheyenne and it probably ranks as a top complaint from people who live here. But let's put the wind in perspective in regards to air quality & strength.
It's extremely clean air that's blowing! The American Lung Association has ranked Cheyenne #1 and #2 the past two years for lowest year-round particle pollution in the United States. This means greater quality of life with far fewer respiratory irritants and cancer causing particle pollutants in the air than the rest of the country.
We know the air in Cheyenne is clean but how fast does it blow?
Cheyenne's average yearly wind speed is 12.8 mph which certainly makes it easy to fly a kite but did you know that the wind blows harder in Dodge City and Amarillo? Based on average yearly wind speed, Cheyenne is only slightly windier than Rochester, Boston, Wichita, Oklahoma City, Buffalo, Milwaukee and New York City!
But that's not the whole story...Yes, there are times that the wind blows strong all day long and you'll hear jokes about being careful not to blow all the way to Nebraska.
However, the beautiful summer months are different! The average temperature in the summer is 73-83 degrees and it just so happens that the summer is the least windy season!
Thus, when people are spending the most time outdoors it is actually the least windy time of the year! According to statistics, the summer wind actually blows faster in Boston, Milwaukee, Honolulu & San Francisco than it does in Cheyenne!
Live and work in Cheyenne! It's a great place to be!

National Park Reservations Scholarship
Hi I'm Nick Brown, and I just returned from an amazing adventure through nine of the most beautiful National Parks in the United States. During this journey, I realized just how important the preservation of these parks are. These parks are some of the only ways left to reconnect with nature. It is important to get away from society and go out and experience the great outdoors. National Parks provide the best escape from society with all of the wild life and incredible views. My favorite National Park is Zion National Park because I felt like I was in another world. The landscape at Zion is so surreal and breathtaking, I could spend weeks and weeks discovering all it has to offer. However, my experience in all nine parks was truly life changing, and I can't wait to explore them all. (I've got 20 down and 39 to go!)
All photos and time lapses were shot by me on the Nikon D750 with the Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 or the Nikon 50mm f/1.8 from May 23, 2015 to May 29, 2015.

Capitol building in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Ground ... (more)
Added: October 03, 2007
Capitol building in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Ground broke on September 9, 1886, the cornerstone was laid on May 18, 1887, and it was built for $131,275.12. It looks similar to the National Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. The first two courses (layer of masonry) are made from sandstone from Fort Collins, Colorado quarries; remainder is of sandstone from Rawlins, Wyoming quarries.
The Capitol is bordered on the South by 24th St., the West by Carey Ave., the North by the Herschler Building, and the East by Central Ave. The replica of the Liberty Bell is at the SouthWest corner. The Spirit of Wyoming cowboy & horse statue lies to the West. The bronze Bison statue is on the East side. The Esther Hobart Morris statue lies at the base of the steps and faces South. The Calf statue is on the South. The Spanish American War statue is to the SouthEast. The Capitol faces the Train Depot to the South.
Video was taken May 16, 2007.

Sinks Canyon State Park
Sinks Canyon State Park features a geologic phenomenon in which the Popo Agie River vanishes into a large cavern (the Sinks) but reappears in a trout- filled pool, the Rise, about half a mile down the canyon. These trout live a leisurely life, with no fishing allowed. A visitor center features wildlife and recreation exhibits, viewing sites and interpretive signs about wildlife and habitat requirements. The park contains hiking trails and offers camping, picnicking, rock climbing and fishing. Sinks Canyon is home to a wide variety of wildlife, birds and plants. Visitors might see porcupines, black bears, red squirrels, bighorn sheep, mule deer, moose or golden eagles. Personal Injury Lawyers Wyoming (307) 733-8140 Jessica Rutzick & Associates
Personal injury attorney Wyoming, Jessica Rutzick & Associates, (307) 733-8140 rutzicklaw.com Suffering an accident in Wyoming or Montana can leave personal injury victims in a difficult position, and it may be necessary to pursue the representation of a qualified Wyoming lawyer or attorney in order for accident victims to get the justice they need. Wyoming and Montana residents who are represented by a qualified attorney can often recover substantial damage awards. A good lawyer or attorney who is experienced in injury law can help walk clients through the accident claim process and determine the amount of compensation that may be available.
Not every Montana or Wyoming personal injury lawyer is right for all accident cases. A Montana car accident lawyer, for instance, may not be qualified to represent the same clients as a Wyoming medical malpractice attorney. This is true for a number of reasons.
For one, the laws that an attorney or lawyer in Wyoming and Montana must know concerning accident claims can differ in small but important ways. For instance, an accident lawyer in Montana may not know what the statute of limitations on Wyoming car accident claims is.
Additionally, a lawyer or attorney who practices in Wyoming will be more familiar with the legal system in his or her state, and a Montana attorney representing a Wyoming accident victim may be at a disadvantage against a Wyoming attorney. The familiarity a judge has with a lawyer or attorney in a case can have a subtle but important impact on accident claims.
When choosing a personal injury lawyer or attorney to take on your Wyoming accident claim, therefore, it is important that you are certain that they can effectively operate before a Wyoming jury. This means that the lawyer or attorney you select should not only be licensed to practice in Wyoming, even if the attorney may also practice in Montana, but also that they have significant experience in the state's legal system.
There are other important issues that a Wyoming accident victim should keep in mind when selecting a lawyer or attorney to represent their personal injury claim. One of these is area of expertise. Every attorney who practices personal injury law in Wyoming or Montana should have a basic understanding of the legal procedures involved in an accident claim. However, not every Wyoming personal injury attorney has the same level of familiarity with particular types of cases. A car accident claim can present different challenges for a lawyer than a medical malpractice case, and vice versa. Therefore, when you are in the process of selecting a lawyer or attorney for your personal injury claim, you should ascertain whether they have worked on cases similar to yours in the past.
You should also get a feel for how the lawyer or attorney you are considering treats their clients. Not every Wyoming or Montana personal injury attorney is committed to establishing a close working relationship with those they represent. Accident victims, however, need the representation of a lawyer who will make a concerted effort to understand the needs of their clients in Wyoming or Montana and work to help them achieve their goals.
This is especially important because the strategies an attorney in Wyoming or Montana may pursue for accident victims can vary based on a range of different factors. Your lawyer will generally resolve your Wyoming accident claim in one of two ways: through a negotiated settlement with the attorney representing the other side, or by appearing before a Wyoming jury.
A Montana or Wyoming accident attorney that goes before a jury is generally more likely to receive a higher level of compensation. However, as every Montana and Wyoming personal injury lawyer is well aware of, the trial process can be long and complicated, and success is not guaranteed. Alternatively, while reaching a settlement can allow Montana and Wyoming accident victims to get a guaranteed award of compensation in a much quicker timeframe, your lawyer is not as likely to be able to get you the full amount of compensation which you might otherwise be able to receive through such a settlement. Therefore, discussing your goals with your lawyer can have an enormous impact on the outcome of your case.
Regardless of what strategy your personal injury lawyer in Montana eventually chooses to pursue, you can rest assured that, with the representation of a qualified lawyer, your case stands a good chance of succeeding, allowing you to recover from the consequences which your injury may have had and get your life back on track. Indeed, the impact a lawyer or attorney can have on your future in these situations is often remarkable.
