GREEK FERRIES - PRICES & SEATS | Athens to Mykonos, Hellenic Seaways | Greece Travel Vlog
Today we travel from Athens to Mykonos on a Greek ferry, Hellenic Seaways. Ferries in Greece are common to reach the islands but...⬇ Click 'Show More' ⬇
We're leaving Athens and bound for Mykonos, heading over on a Hellenic Seaways ferry to see what the experience on those Greek ferries is all about! We struggled to find any travel vlogs on the ferry process, costs, timings and experience online so decided we'd pick up the camera and create our own vlog as we jumped on the ferry in Athens.
Hellenic Seaways in 2018 was a decent ferry, price was reasonable to purchase the ticket but the food on board was ridiculous, the costs were silly over priced. Paying for seats on the ferry seems like the best option, the other guests were stuck on the outside and mega uncomfortable.
Check back for our next Mykonos video! But for now, our review on the Greek ferry experience was pretty decent - travel was easy and for the most part the trip was painless.

Greece wonderful country
A song for my wonderful country Greece dedicated to my excellent and devoted wife Helen.
Lyrics:
Greece wonderful country, Greece beautiful land
from Macedonia to Crete major island
from Epirus highland to Evros river in Thraki land
Greece wonderful country oh Greece beautiful land.
Athens cradle of democracy, Greece brilliant in mind
have contributed greatly to the human kind
brave in fights for right and freedom, torch of liberty and wisdom
you'll be always alive, you'll be my great pride
you'll be always alive, deep in my heart and mind.
Your deep blue of the Aegean and the Ionian waters
your cloudless skies of the purest blue high above
the uncerpassed beauty of light it's in fact your greatest treasure
unrivalled brightness of sunrise, sunset full moon and stars.
The holy sites of Parthenon, Knossos, Delphi, Olympia
astounding creations and finest examples of art
the coming generations will wonder with pride
at all the great achievements of Man's genius and mind.
Greece wonderful country, Greece beautiful land
from Peleponnesus to the rest of the mainland
with all the Ionian and the Aegean islands
Greece wonderful country oh Greece beautiful land.

Top Things to Do in Santorini (Part 1) | Greece Honeymoon
Read our full Santorini Honeymoon travel guide here:
Watch Part 2 here:
Welcome to Santorini! We absolutely loved it here. Every minute spent on the beautiful island saw us falling deeper and deeper in love. As one of the most romantic places on the planet, Santorini is undoubtedly a beautiful honeymoon destination to discover.
It is home to mesmerizing sunrises and sunsets, rugged landscapes of black and red beaches, luxury hotels... and even an active volcano that was responsible for shaping the caldera decades of years ago back in the 16th Century!
In this episode… we kickstarted our Santorini adventure by checking into the beautiful Athina Luxury Suites. The next morning, we caught the sunrise right from our own private terrace (and even some donkeys walking by)! We got ready to embark on the famous scenic 4-hour hike from Fira to Oia town, and stopped by the Three Bells of Fira and Skaros Rock. We climbed to the top of Skaros Rock to admire the breathtaking view. It is not to be missed. The hike took us 6-hours in total to accomplish, due to us stopping to soak in the views and get them on camera for you guys! We managed to reach Oia just in time to catch the sunset. Watching the sun light up the entire town with a warm glow before retreating into the vast horizon, was a mesmerizing experience. Absolutely romantic. Afterwards, we went to the bus station to snack on Lolita’s Gelato, freshly grilled corn and a hot bowl of moussaka - a traditional Greek dish that is a must-try on your visit. Be sure to watch Episode 2!

Santorini Island
Santorini is the most extraordinary island in the Aegean. The volcanic cliffs of Santorini are red, brown or greenish, surmounted by a string of white villages. Jetting out from the deep blue sea its volcanic sheer cliffs topped with gleaming white village homes and churches, resemble snowcapped mountains. The thunderous fury of nature left its mark on the island, the home of Greece's last active volcano which still smolders today. Layer upon layer of red volcanic rock interspersed with white buildings and specks of greenery form a visual demonstration found nowhere else.

Athens-Strike
Frankly, this is a great time to travel to Greece. The financial crisis — while making life difficult for most Greeks — is a boon for budget travelers. Hotel prices are down, the normally warm Greek hospitality has ratcheted up a few notches, and roads outside of Athens are essentially traffic-free, as higher gas prices have caused locals to cut down on inessential driving. The downsides (shorter hours at sights, reduced long-distance bus service, occasional strikes) are noticeable, but not reason enough for you to postpone a trip. All the things you're looking for in a trip to Greece — mouthwatering food, deep-blue water, striking scenery, and the thrill of connecting with ancient history — are all here waiting for you...at a cheaper price.
Greece is easy on travelers. Tourism makes up 15 percent of the gross domestic product. The Greeks pride themselves on a concept called filotimo — literally love of honor, but usually meant to connote openness, friendliness, and hospitality. Social faux pas made by unwary foreigners are easily overlooked by Greeks, and many speak English.
Despite the headlines, the major sights of this ancient land are open and relatively crowd-free. Athens, while sprawling and congested, has a compact, pleasant tourist zone capped by the famous Acropolis — the world's top ancient site. With its central location, it's also the perfect launch pad for farther-flung destinations. You can commune with ancient spirits at the center of the world — the oracle near the picturesque mountain hamlet of Delphi. Or travel farther to the Peloponnese, the large peninsula that hangs from the rest of the Greek mainland, and experience a wild, mountainous landscape dotted with the ruins of Mycenaean palaces, ancient temples, frescoed churches, and countless medieval hilltop castles. Most travelers like to take a vacation from their vacation on one of the famous Greek isles, such as traffic-free Hydra, whitewashed Mykonos, or volcanic Santorini.
It all sounds idyllic — and for the most part, it is. On a trip here a few years ago, if it hadn't been for the blaring headlines and shrill news reports calling the demonstrations riots, I probably wouldn't have been aware of them at all — I was too busy pondering the ancients at the Acropolis and nibbling olives at dinner. I found Greece to be the same old wonderful place...with, perhaps, a few more minor headaches.
Political protests are indeed a common occurrence, and not just in Athens. Demonstrating is woven into European democracies. And, while protesting is generally just too much trouble for most Americans, Europeans are quick to hit the streets when they want to raise their collective voice. I think it's healthy. It's my hunch that for many years to come, Europe will be sorting this out, and travelers will encounter parades and rallies in front of parliament buildings — and anarchists wanting to hijack these events to make their points and get on the news. As the TV news media loves vivid footage, this is easy to do. But most rallies involve zero violence. When violence has broken out in Athens, it's been between police and protesters, not bystanders...and certainly not tourists out for a stroll.
It's pretty easy to steer clear of any unrest. Protest rallies are generally scheduled in advance: Your hotelier can tell you if anything's likely to be afoot in a main city square during your visit. Strikes are another nuisance, but generally not prolonged — just a day or two here and there. (Strikes have long been a way of life in Greece; most Greeks see a general strike as an excuse for an impromptu holiday.)
What's the biggest impact of the crisis on visitors? It's the satisfaction you'll get from contributing to the economy of a nation dealing with tough times — and the joy that comes from a tourist industry that really appreciates your presence. Sharing a beer or a coffee with a talkative native can provide you with a lesson in contemporary Greece that's every bit as fascinating as the Classical stuff.
Greece has, it seems, more than its share of troubles right now. Still, Greeks are optimistic by nature. Most believe that they'll get through these tough economic times. They're quick to point out that, regardless of the economy, the olives remain just as tasty, the water just as blue, and the sun — like the Greek people — just as warm.Newspaper
