Places to see in ( Oahu - USA ) Kapiolani Park
Places to see in ( Oahu - USA ) Kapiolani Park
Queen Kapiʻolani Regional Park is the largest and second oldest public park in Hawaiʻi, located in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi on the east end of Waikīkī just beyond Kuhio Beach Park and the Waikiki residential neighborhood. The 300-acre (1.2 km2) park, named after Queen Kapiʻolani, the queen consort of King David Kalākaua, is home to the Waikiki Shell and the Honolulu Zoo.
Prior to being used as a public space, the area was a mix of swamp land and arid plain unsuitable for building. In the 1870s, Kalākaua was charged to find a permanent, dry course for horse racing. Since Waikiki was popular with wealthy racing fans, Kalākaua chose the unoccupied and dry plain at the foot of Diamond Head where the park now stands. On June 11, 1877, the park was dedicated as the first Hawaiian public space. Scotsman Archibald Scott Cleghorn was Vice-president and later president of the Kapiʻolani Park Association, a group of businessmen, who convinced Kalākaua to give them a 30-year lease for $1 per year. Cleghorn was a Hawaiian citizen married into Hawaiian Royalty. Cleghorn planned the park's landscaping, including the majestic ironwood trees. Money was raised with $50 shares in the association. Shareholders could lease a beachfront lot near the park, and many had cottages there by the 1880s.
A lease was granted to the Honolulu Cricket Club in 1893. Top cricket players from San Francisco's California Cricket Association played for local teams. During the 1893 overthrow of the Kingdom of Hawaii, most of these became privately owned, and most were later given back to the city or condemned. Now the park consists of open green space, lilyponds, the Honolulu Zoo and the Waikiki Shell entertainment venue.
After the overthrow, the land was conveyed to the Republic of Hawaii and managed by the Honolulu Park Commission. The legislation provided that the park be set aside permanently as a free public park and recreation ground, forbade the sale or lease of land in the park, and prohibited charging of any entrance fees. Since 1913, the park has been maintained by the City and County of Honolulu's Department of Parks & Recreation.
Besides the zoo and the Shell, the park includes tennis and basketball courts, soccer, baseball, lacrosse and rugby fields and an archery range. The park hosts many international lacrosse and rugby tournaments a year. Its bandstand serves as an entertainment venue. It is also a popular course for joggers who utilize its two-mile (3 km) circumference. The park also serves as the site, as both the starting and finish lines, of road races in Honolulu including the Honolulu Marathon.
Kapiʻolani park is also home to Honolulu Cricket Club, the only cricket club in the Hawaiian Islands. Founded in 1893, it is the oldest sporting club in the Pacific according to Guinness World Records. As Kapiʻolani Park continues south it becomes Kapiʻolani Beach Park, adjacent to Kuhio Beach and Waikiki Beach. The park itself also serves as a natural border between Waikiki and Diamond Head neighborhood.

Hawaii 2015 Day 3 | Manoa Falls and Waikiki Beach
Aloha Cousins,
Today we hiked the rainforest to see Manoa Falls! A 150ft waterfall waited for us at the end of our journey through film sets of Hunger Games and Jurassic Park! I also became a walking buffet for mosquitoes, even though I took precautions =(
Mahalo for watching=)
DJI Osmo in Honolulu, Hawaii on Top of Diamond Head State Monument Crater 4k
While in Oahu, near Honolulu, Hawaii I took the hike to the top of Diamond Head! No need to make the hike! I've done it for you. Enjoy the view.
It takes about an hour to reach the summit, and half that time for the return. The trail climbs the inside slope of Diamond Head for about 0.6 miles (about one kilometer). It’s a switchback trail with the mountain on one side and a railing on the other. After a lookout point that doubles as a rest stop, the trail takes a steep upward ascent through a series of stairs and tunnels. The last set of stairs is a 99-step climb—just take it slow and steady—that eventually leads to a World War II bunker. From there, the stairs reach an end and you step up to some of the finest panoramic views on Oahu.

Hawaii '15
Even though I’ve been to Hawaii when I was a lot younger, I didn’t quite know what to expect from Hawaii this time around except for being lazy at the beaches. I quickly realized that both Oahu and Maui have way more to offer than I first thought. After 19 days of being in Hawaii, I felt like I barely scratched the surface of the things you can do here. Oahu and Maui definitely both exceeded my expectations of Hawaii.
Oahu - Maui
Oahu (7 days): Oahu is a perfect combination of city-life and paradise. It is filled with delicious restaurants (especially ramen and sushi), a decent nightlife scene, scenic hikes, and awesome beaches. Oahu Highlights: Seaside Hawaiian Hostel, Olomana Trail, Pillbox Trail, Diamond Head Trail, Waimanalo Beach, Hanama Bay, Lanikai Beach, Waikiki Beach, boating to the sand bars, Marukame Udon, Agu Ramen, Leonard’s Bakery, Helena’s Hawaiian Food, Ono Seafood, Lucky Belly, Duke’s, Doraku Sushi, Goma Tei Ramen, Side Street Inn, Rainbow Drive-In, spam breakfast at McDonald’s, Jon’s aftermath next to the Denny’s entrance, being awesome at that spearing game in Dave n’ Busters
Maui (12 days): Originally planned for 5 days in Maui, but I eventually decided to cancel my flight home and stayed an extra week. Maui definitely has a different vibe than Oahu as it seems more natural and has more of a town feel, but still just as amazing. I stayed in the city of Paia, which some consider to be the beachy hippy town of Maui. Also, since it was breeding season for humpback whales, you can almost look out in any direction in the ocean and see humpback whales jumping around or flipping their tails. Maui Highlights: Aloha Surf Hostel, Road to Hana, Paia Beach, Baldwin Beach, Black Sand Beach, Red Sand Beach, Hookipa Beach, Iao Valley Needle Hike, snorkeling with sea turtles near Black Rock, Lahaina, Blowhole, Dragon's Teeth, humpback whale watching, attempting to hitch-hike (semi-fail), Masquerade party at MACC, Sunday party at Little Beach, Paia Fish Market, Flatbread Company, Cafe Des Amis, Charley’s, Geste Shrimp Truck, poke at Tobi’s Shave Ice, poke at Safeway, poke at Foodland, spam musabi at Minit Stop, a stapling incident on the hostel’s table

Honolulu, on the island of Oahu’s south shore, is capital of Hawaii and gateway to the U.S. island chain. The Waikiki neighborhood is its center for dining, nightlife and shopping, famed for its iconic crescent beach backed by palms and high-rise hotels, with volcanic Diamond Head crater looming in the distance. Sites relating to the World War II attack on Pearl Harbor include the USS Arizona Memorial.
The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
