Quick change Kate: Duchess of Cambridge wears £50 frock to meet street children at New Delhi.
Quick change Kate: Duchess of Cambridge wears £50 frock to meet street children at New Delhi railway station – then steps out in £795 chic mint lace for lunch with Indian prime minister.
Just an hour or two earlier, the Duchess of Cambridge was playing games with India's most vulnerable children in a £50 frock and flat pumps
But after a swift costume change that would impress many a West End theatre, she was stepping out to have lunch with the Indian Prime Minister in an £800 lace dress paired with a formal chignon.
It was all part of another busy day on the Royal tour, which started with the Duchess looking radiant in a casual printed maxi dress as she joined her husband at a centre for street children in New Delhi.
The royal couple visited a facility run by the Salaam Baalak Trust, an organisation supporting some of the youngsters who arrive into the city's railway station each day in search of a better life.
Unusually on a public engagement, Kate, 34, opted for flat cream pumps which she paired with a long burgundy ethnic-style dress with a belt tied around the middle. She wore her hair in loose curls half tied up off her face to finish her relaxed look.
William and Kate, who are on the third day of their week-long tour of India and Bhutan, today met some of the 6,000 children who travel to New Delhi each year, often fleeing from abuse or appalling poverty.
Once they arrive in the Indian capital, the youngsters become a target for prostitution, people trafficking or sexual and physical abuse.
The royal couple heard how the Trust's outreach workers try to identify the most vulnerable young children as soon as they arrive, encouraging them to seek support.
The Duke and Duchess heard how some of the children have their eyes gouged out and hands hacked off to make them more 'attractive ' as professional beggars.
But the horrors of life on the street seemed far removed from the children's minds as they invited the visiting royals to join them for a round of carrom, a traditional table game.
William and Kate appeared in good spirits as they crouched down on the floor with the boys, who live in the nearby station.
Prince William, 33, asked one of the boys: 'What's the game you're playing? Ah, carrom board. Can you show us how to play?' Flicking the draught, he laughed as it went too far and invited his wife to have a go.
The charity's director Sanjoy Roy told the couple about the charity's work. 'The boys come here for four hours of lessons and some food every day,' he said. 'When they're not here, they're at the railway station.'
When Prince William asked whether it was dangerous, Mr Roy replied: 'Yes, so they try to stick together. We look after around 7,000 kids a year but every day around 40 to 50 new children arrive at the station.
Their visit comes at the time of the Bohag Bihu festival, the celebration of Assamese New Year. William and Kate will meet local people around a campfire and and watch dance and musical performances. They may even take part themselves.

Prince Charles attends Hindu ceremony by River Ganges
Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, attended a sacred ceremony on the banks of the River Ganges in India on the first day of their nine day tour of India.
The ritual took place at a temple in the holy Hindu city of Rishikesh, where the Beatles famously studied transcendental meditation in 1968.
The royal couple were welcomed by the Hindu guru Swami Chidanand and his leading disciple, Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati, who draped a garland of marigold blooms around their necks.
The Prince told gathered trainee priests and their leaders: It's a particular joy to join you here on the banks of the Ganges this evening because it is, above all else, my first visit to the Ganges and so from that point of view it is a very special occasion for both myself and my wife.
The couple will also travel to the capital, New Delhi, and to Mumbai, Pune and Kochi before they to head to Sri Lanka to represent the Queen at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Colombo.

Prince Charles’s India trip overshadowed by Paradise Papers leaks
Prince Charles’s India trip overshadowed by Paradise Papers leaks.
THE PRINCE OF WALES has travelled to India for a meeting with the nation's Prime Minister as details of his financial affairs were revealed in the leaked Paradise Papers.
Charles’s talks with Narendra Modi are likely to be overshadowed by reports by the BBC and The Guardian that the heir to the throne invested in an offshore carbon credit trading company then lobbied for two climate change deals to be altered.
India is the last leg of an 11-day trip, which has the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall tour Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei.
Although the stop to the Commonwealth country is brief, just two days, the meeting with the leader of the world's largest democracy is an important one.
Charles has spoken of his passion for the Commonwealth during the tour, and with a major gathering of leaders from the family of nations being staged in London next April, the meeting of the Prime Minister and the Prince will further strengthen UK-India relations ahead of the summit.
According to reports, the Paradise Papers show Charles’s private Duchy of Cornwall estate paid $113,500 (£58,000) in 2007 for 50 shares in the Bermuda-registered Sustainable Forestry Management Ltd in 2007.
Following the purchase, Charles lobbied for a change to two climate change deals that would have directly benefited the business, the BBC and The Guardian said.
A spokesman for Clarence House denied that Charles had spoken out on the two deals in order to benefit financially.

Royals Retrace Diana's Steps At Taj Mahal
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have evoked the memory of Princess Diana, by sitting on the Taj Mahal bench that became a symbol of her broken marriage.
William and Kate toured the iconic building after flying in from Bhutan, with the prince describing the building as stunning and beautiful
At one point the pair posed for pictures on the same bench that Diana sat on 24 years ago.
The picture of Diana sitting alone in front of the Taj became a defining image and by the end of 1992 it was announced the couple had decided to separate.
In temperatures of 41C (106F), William and Kate toured the grounds of the Taj and were given a guided tour of the mausoleum itself.
The Cambridges' communications secretary Jason Knauf said: The Duke of Cambridge is of course aware of the huge esteem his mother, the late Princess of Wales is held in India and he appreciates the status of the images that exist of the Princess at the Taj.
He feels incredibly lucky to visit a place where his mother's memory is kept alive by so many who travel there.
Twenty-four years on from her visit to the Taj, the Duke and the Duchess are looking forward to seeing this beautiful place for themselves and creating some new memories as they say thank you to the people of India at the conclusion of this tour.
The Taj Mahal was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the mid 17th century, a monument of love to his favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal.
It took 22 years and 20,000 men to erect the building from white marble transported from 200 miles away by elephants.
The visit brings to an end William and Kate's seven-day tour of India and Bhutan which has seen them not only visit slums in Mumbai and meet Bollywood stars but forge a friendship with Bhutan's Dragon King and his Queen.
Prince William and Wife Kate Join Indian Prime Minister for a Private Lunch
NEW DELHI (AP) — The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge joined Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a private lunch Tuesday at a former palace in New Delhi. Before going indoors, Prince William and his wife, the former Kate Middleton, strolled on either side of Modi, chatting and smiling before posing for cameras. The British royal couple is in India for a weeklong tour. They've already visited Mumbai, and were to travel later Tuesday to a wildlife park in the northeastern state of Assam that is home to various endangered animals.

William and Kate walk in Diana's footsteps
Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have left Bhutan and paid a visit to the iconic Taj Mahal as they wrap up their tour
The pair sat on the bench made famous by Princess Diana, whose picture there was beamed around the globe
The visit comes 24 years after Princess Diana's poignant trip and the iconic image of her sitting alone on the bench
They decided this morning they would sit on the bench 'because it is where everyone sits to admire the Taj's beauty'
As their week-long tour draws to a close, the pair will stop for dinner in Delhi before flying back to the UK tonight
Prince William brought the royal tour of India to a poignant close today as he sat down with his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, on the same marble bench as his late mother, Princess Diana, at the Taj Mahal.
The image, 24 years ago, of Diana looking forlorn and alone outside the glorious symbol of eternal love as her marriage to Prince Charles crumbled, became one of the iconic images of their failed relationship.
It could not be in starker contrast to today's tender display of affection between a couple still clearly in love as they prepare to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary on the 29th of this month.
William guided Kate and sat down for a small group of waiting photographers in a bid, he said, to 'create some memories of our own'. The couple's farewell to India could not have been more meaningful as they sat together, knees touching, beaming for the assembled photographers.
After a private hotel meal, the royal couple were tonight preparing to fly back to the UK
The couple arrived at the landmark monument at 3.40pm accompanied by a guide they earlier had lunch with at the nearby Oberoi hotel.
William looked pensive, or possibly slightly overawed, as they stood looking at the view for a minute or so as the guide talked through the history of the Taj Mahal.
Then they walked through the famous garden, before William guided Kate to the bench and they sat down.
As they left the prince told nearby photographers and workers: 'I'm glad you have got your hats on. It is beautiful, isn't it. It was overwhelming. '
Kate, 34, wearing a white dress with a royal blue embroidered motif by Indian designer Naeem Khan and her trademark nude high heels, followed her husband's lead in taking off her designer sunglasses before smiling warmly for the cameras.
She was wearing the £6.60 earrings she bought at a craft market in Bhutan after her mountain walk yesterday.
William, 33, quickly adjusted his blue linen jacket, which he wore over a crisp open neck white shirt with chinos and dark brown suede loafers.
They sat smiling together for 25 seconds before being given a 'thumbs up' by their director of communications, Jason Knauf, signalling that the much-anticipated photoshoot was over.
When Princess Diana sat in the same spot three days before Valentine's Day in 1992, she cut a forlorn figure outside the so-called 'monument of love', the spectacular marble mausoleum becoming a symbol of her loneliness.
Dressed in a purple and red outfit, a then 30-year-old Diana told reporters she found the experience 'very healing'.
When pressed to explain herself, the princess replied: 'Work it out for yourself.' Nine months later she and Prince Charles announced their separation in November 1992.

Prince Charles and his wife Camila visits the Folklore Museum Kochi, Kerala | Exclusive Video
Prince Charles, Camilla get a glimpse of Kerala culture.
Prince Charles and his wife Camilla Parker Bowles commenced their four-day Kerala visit on Monday by first taking a stroll down the State's rich cultural history at the Kerala Folklore Museum and Theatre at nearby Thevara.
The royal couple were garlanded by the museum owners, Jacob George and his wife Anne George and their two children, who took them on a tour around the private museum, which is a treasure trove showcasing the rich heritage of Kerala. Charles and Camilla were welcomed with flower garlands and a traditional tika on the forehead.
Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall removed their shoes as they entered the museum, declined to take the lift and climbed 50-odd wooden steps of the three-storeyed structure.
Two artistes performed Kathakali, the classical dance-drama of Kerala, depicting the slaying of demon Narakasura in Narakasura Vadham leaving the visitors mesmerised. This was followed by Kalaripayattu (martial art form of the State). The match even had Camilla wincing at one point when one man grabbed his opponent between the legs during a throw.
The show was organised by the Tourism department.
After the performance, Prince Charles asked the Kathakali artists about their costumes which weigh around 35 kg. He wanted to know how they were able to control all their muscles and their extraordinary expressions, the artists said.
The Prince of Wales told them he had enjoyed the programme, but that it was too short, the artistes said.
They also watched a Bharatanatyam performance by 'Paris' Laxmi, a French dancer who has made Kerala her home since 2011 after marrying Kathakali artist Pallipuram Sunil.
The royal couple were pleased with the footwork and facial expressions and they spoke a few words to me in French saying 'unbelievable', Laxmi told PTI after her performance.
The museum houses masks and sculptures in wood, stone and bronze, costumes of traditional and ritual art forms, musical instruments, traditional jewellery, manuscripts on rare medicines and stone age utensils.
Later in the evening, Prince Charles also joined urban planners and city dignitaries to view the signing of an MoU, marking the participation of Aluva, a town near Kochi, in the 'Future Cities' project.
The MoU was signed between Atkins, a British company, and Aluva municipality. The company would undertake a three-year study to prepare a masterplan for the project.
The royal couple also attended a reception for civic and business leaders hosted by the Kerala government.
They also met Head of the Travancore Royal family, Uthradom Thirunal Marthanda Varma.
