TRRS 525: Chasing Marquette Rail's Turn Job
NEWAYGO, MICH - 03 July, 2017
The day before Independence Day, 2017, Marquette Rail's Turn Job was doing their thing along the rails north of Grand Rapids, Michigan. One of G&W's 5 Michigan Properties, the Mighty Marquette can trace it's 126 miles of track all back to Pere Marquette heritage from the late 1800s. Today, they're still running through the forested region north of the state's second largest city, serving a collection of customers including the paper, chemical and salt industries.
On point today are a trio of SD40-2s, which make up about half of the overall fleet, the remainder consisting of primarily GP38-2 locomotives.
