My Luxurious Train Ride On The Rocky Mountaineer
What's better than flying first class? This luxury train service in the Pacific Northwest known as the Rocky Mountaineer. Seems to me like it must be the highest level of service you'd find on a train in North America!
In this video, I take you along with me and my wife for a slightly more than five hour trip from Seattle, Washington to Vancouver, British Columbia in a special rail car that far exceeds the level of service and pampering you'd get on Amtrak.
We boarded at the King Street station in Seattle and headed north on a beautiful route along Puget Sound. The tracks ran right along the water for hours! The views were fantastic and the food, drinks, and level of service provided to the passengers was, too!
This Seattle-Vancouver journey is known as the Coastal Passage, and it's a good alternative for people that can't afford the ultimate Rocky Mountaineer experience: the 2-day journey from Vancouver to Banff.
Some of the points of interest in the video include the Seattle Space Needle, Fairhaven, Bellingham, Surrey, Crescent Beach, and the border between Canada and the United States.
Because we booked the Gold Leaf service rather than the less expensive Silver Leaf class, we rode in a 2-level rail car with a dining room on the bottom level and a glass-domed viewing area on the upper level.
I'll be riding the Rocky Mountaineer again in July of 2020, following an Alaska cruise. If you think you might be interested in coming along with me for that vacation, take a look at for details.

3 Tricks To Catch More Fish With Finesse Swimbaits
Finesse swimbaits are awesome! These little paddle tails get bit every month of the year and they catch way bigger bass than most anglers realize. If you aren't using them, you're missing out on some of the easiest bites you can get. Simple adjustments to cadence and head design will make the baits even more effective. Come along as Tim explains exactly how to maximize your time with small swimbaits.
Tim has a handful of heads he uses to really dial in his finesse swimbaits. He adjusts head selection with the size of the bait, depth he's fishing, and water clarity. (Underspin for muddy water, Okashira for Ultra finesse tactics, and a mix of Guppy and TacticalBassin Finesse swimbait heads for all the standard clear to murky water fishing.) He combines those heads with 3 different cadences that help him maximize his time on the water. By adjusting cadence he is able to keep catching fish on small swimbaits when most anglers have given up.
The finesse swimbait is truly deadly in Winter. It will work today and will continue to work all the way through the spawn. Below is a breakdown of the baits, heads, and Gear Tim is using to catch bass on finesse swimbaits.

San Francisco to Portland via the Oregon Coast -INTRO
Purchase the DVD (49 minutes includes two extra videos) for $14.99
This is intended to show you what YOU can do on a vacation, not what a cooking star can do on vacation... Enjoy
Our trip started in San Francisco and ended in Portland with the entire Oregon Coast squeezed in between.
We ate authentic Chinese food in the USA's largest China Town, as well as sampling Ghirardelli Chocolate, Dungenous Crab, Boudin Sourdough and Tillamook Cheese, and even some Carl's jr (when I basically begged Janet to dine at the Carl jrs, she said ok, then muttered i'm a lucky girl ha)
We saw the Castro, Haight Asbury, Golden Gate park and bridge, Fisherman's Wharf and the beautiful bay.
We dropped in at Coppalas Winery after strolling through Muir woods. We visited a famous jewelry maker in Arcata, CA
drove through a huge tree and hiked the RedWood Forest. We saw elk, deer, sea lions and hand fed squirrels.
Our trip took us up the most gorgeous rocky coast we have ever seen through small towns and river inlets.
We walked the beaches, hiked to see the largest Myrtlewood tree in Oregon, visited with a lighthouse keeper and a got to go behind the scenes of a famous wood worker.
After touring the famous Tillamook Cheese factory we headed inland to catch up with a great friend that gave us a tour of Portland. We ate at Pok Poks, hiked the Columbia river area, saw incredible views and quirky folks. We ate at the famous french restaurant featured in NBC's Grimm and fell in love with the genuine kindness of the people there.
We hope you enjoy our trip and find it inspiring enough to take a trip of your own.

Caviar Schemes: Sturgeon Poachers On The Columbia
Wildlife cops say the high value of black market caviar is driving poachers to target giant sturgeon in the Columbia River, putting the whole population of these fish at risk.

Paradise Cafe
Paradise Cafe is a country style restaurant on the Oregon coast in the town of Port Orford. Port Orford is the westerly most town in the continental United States and just celebrated it's 150 year anniversary making it the oldest town on the Oregon coast. Also unique to Port Orford is it's Port. Due to the rough seas boats are not parked in the water, rather they are lifted onto trailers and parked on the dock. There is only one other 'dolly dock' in the USA located in southern California. A look into the daily lives of local fishermen can be experienced on a good weather afternoon by visiting the port and watching the fishing boats unload their daily catch of Tuna, crab and many other types of seafood including exotic varieties shipped live to China town in San Francisco.
