Tbilisi - Georgia: The Dry Bridge Market (Great Flea Market!)
The Dry Bridge in Tbilisi is one of the best Flea Markets I have ever strolled through. Almost worth a trip to Tbilisi just to wander around it. The following short film is just my visual journey with a camera through the rows of bizarre items. There is also an Art Bazaar here as well, with some fairly decent art. It starts off slow but eventually some absolutely strange stuff appears before the lens. To examine the contents of the street more carefully download the high definition version and pause the film anywhere.
This footage was taken in April of 2012 while I was in Tbilisi investigating the music , dance and puppets of Georgia.

One of the most famous places in Tbilisi visited by all tourists from different countries is the Flea Market on the Dry Bridge. Here you can find antiques of the times of the Russian Empire and the USSR, as well as other peoples and cultures (China, Japan, Vietnam ...).

DRY BRIDGE Soviet Antiques Market (Budget Travel Georgia) {Tbilisi, GEORGIA}
Budget Travel Georgia #1
How best to describe the Dry Bridge Soviet Antiques Market in Tbilisi, Georgia? A three-ring circus encircled by an omnipresent Communist hammer-and-sickle symbol.
Like antiques? Good. Prefer them with Communist flavor? Even better.
Matt soaks up some USSR nostalgia while scouting for bargains at the famed Dry Bridge Flea Market in Tbilisi.

This extraordinary flea market will keep you entertained for hours. There is a mesmerising assortment of antiques, jewellery and bric-a-brac on sale. In the tough days of Perestroika and the early years of independence, the Dry Bridge is where hard-up citizens of Tbilisi would come to sell their possessions in order to make a little cash. For some people that is still the case today, though for others this is their main business. Everything is laid out on the ground, often carefully arranged on on sheets of material, other times it is a haphazard collection. One person might be trying to sell you twenty-year-old batteries or an old toothbrush, while their neighbour will be touting antique amber and silver jewellery. If you want to buy anything remember to haggle. Prices may be inflated, especially for tourists. Open daily if the weather is good, from 10:00 - 17:00. At weekends there are usually more sellers, but more tourists too.

(Mtkvari Right Bank, Tbilisi,Georgia)
Mshrali khidi (Dry bridge, geo. მშრალი ხიდი) formerly known as Mikheil small bridge, was built in 1849-51 by Giovanni Scudieri.
The open-air Dry Bridge Market by the Mtkvari river (on the “Dry Overpass” and surrounding areas) has become the city’s unofficial art bazaar. Here you can find paintings, sculpture, beautiful carvings, exquisite icons, pottery and fabrics. The work is amazing and prices are reasonable.

Dezerter Bazaar in Tbilisi
At the lively market with fresh food you can get a good picture of the Georgian cuisine. Here you can get many vegetables, fruits and fresh good smelling herbs. Many local seasonal ones and some are imported. It is a busy marked and the food is fresh. The selections of cheeses, nuts and spices are huge and the full market also offers meat and fresh fish. This video is made at my very first time at “Dezerter Bazaar” and during a 45 minutes guided tour - It was inspiring and fascinating. Do not miss it if you are in Tbilisi. I could have spent hours here ❤
