To conclude my Fall 2017 road trip I arrive in Florida coming from Georgia. I stay at Fort Clinch State Park, on Amelia Island, near Fernandina Beach. The sunset and sunrise were amazing.

Although no battles were fought here, it was garrisoned during both the Civil and Spanish-American wars. 61 campsites in two separate and unique campgrounds. Across the north tip of the park, just steps from the ocean, the 21 sites at the Atlantic Beach Campground are typical of the Florida beach atmosphere surrounded by snow white sand dunes and sunny sites. 6 primitive tent only sites are also available. Fort Clinch State Park Tour & A Yank (RV Camping On Amelia Island, FL) Episode 3
This episode we travel to the Northeast Corner of Florida, to Fort Clinch State Park on Amelia Island. This location had so much more to offer than we would've imagined in a state park. The weather didn't completely cooperate, and we have to do a better job of slowing down to enjoy the journey, but Ft. Clinch will remain a family favorite for the seasons ahead.

I drove 3 and 1/2 hours to get to this place. By the time I fininshed taking my drone footage the park's admin comes to me and say that I cannot use the drone. I happily agreed not to use it since I already got the footage I wanted lol. Now I do my due diligence by checking the state park's website and DJI's geo zones and there was nothing stating that I cannot use a drone. I think the guy was bull $#!tting me but that ok I respected his request and brought the drone down...........Kinda since I sneaked on the nearby dunes and did the GA/FL line drone shot. It was a fun trip to say the least and I hope you guys enjoy this video.

Our stop at Fernandina Florida's Fort Clinch State park was one of our favorites! Situated on the Florida/Georgia line and Amelia River, it has a lot to offer including a beautiful Atlantic beach! The park has two separate camping areas; one on Amelia River, and another on the beach. We stayed in Amelia River area and loved it so much we're planning on going back someday!

Hiking Fort Clinch on Amelia Island Florida
In an area located in the north east corner of Florida, is another fantastic State Park! We were here in February of 2016, so we really didn’t get to enjoy any good sunbathing activities, but we did get to enjoy the various hiking trails that the park offers.
Follow our hiking adventure, as we take in the ocean, and one of the Fort Clinch Willow Pond trails.

Great visit to Amelia Island, Florida. Fernandina Beach is a quaint town. They had a band playing in the street the night we went out to dinner. Great ice cream shop and restaurants. Fort Clinch State Park is on the northern tip of the island. Camping sites are available on both the ocean and the river. Fort Clinch was built in 1847 and is interesting to explore

A row of cannons staring across the St. Mary’s River into Georgia are silent testimony to the strategic importance of Fort Clinch during the Civil War. Visitors can explore the fort’s many rooms, galleries, and grounds and experience unparalleled living history programs as they learn about the life of a Union soldier. Make plans to visit on the first weekend of every month, a soldier garrison fires cannons and demonstrates other battlefield skills.
The historic fort is only one aspect of this diverse 1,400-acre park. Maritime hammocks with massive arching live oaks provide a striking backdrop for hiking and biking on the park’s many trails.
The park is known for its gopher tortoises, painting buntings and several other species of wildlife. Camping, fishing, shelling and shark-tooth hunting are also popular activities.
Join us on our journey back in time as we walk the brick covered walkways and powderkegs of a shining example of Old Florida History and a great representation of the United States colonial military might.
