One of entertainment's greatest sons, Frank Sinatra, has arrived at his final resting place at a Palm Springs cemetery on Wednesday.
About 4 (h) hundred close family, friends and former colleagues had earlier joined in a moving private funeral service which celebrated his life of show business.
Sinatra died last Thursday of heart failure aged 82.
Hollywood's brightest stars, including many of the old guard, joined 4 (h) hundred family and friends to bid farewell to the king of show business.
They packed the Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church in Beverly Hills to remember and celebrate the life of Frank Sinatra.
Many were overcome with grief.
They watched in silence as Sinatra's elaborate casket blanketed with gardenias, his favourite flowers, was carried out of the church.
Earlier, during the touching two hour service, Sinatra was remembered as a 'reckless, rogue, sentimental fella,' who graced the world with his talent.
Some of the guests wept as they listened to a recording of Sinatra's 'Put Your Dreams Away'.
After the ceremony, Sinatra's casket was carried out of the church to a hearse, amid the din of four media helicopters hovering overhead.
Outside the church thousands of fans lined the streets to get a glimpse of Sinatra's casket.
One fan said she felt at peace knowing that Sinatra lives on through his music and in their memories.

Famous Grave - THE THIN MAN'S Actor WILLIAM POWELL - Desert Memorial Park, Cathedral City, CA
Back in the 1960s, while watching actor William Powell in the Thin Man murder mystery movies on TV, I never could have imagined that some day I would be buried next to him. When my younger brother Bill died unexpected a couple of years ago, Jim and I purchased our pre-need niches at the Desert Memorial Park cemetery In Cathedral City, California. They're located just a few feet away from William Powell's grave and a half dozen rows from Frank Sinatra's grave. And I can see my grandparent's graves from our niches, as well. I can't think of a better neighbors to have for eternity.

Franky's Gravesite
Frank Sinatra's grave in Palm Springs, CA. Just to clarify: It is the famous gravesite of THE Frank Sinatra.
Like Sonny Bono, Frank is buried in Palm Springs, California. When I found his grave, I also found the graves of practically his whole family and friends. They almost took up the whole row, squeezing out Zsa-Zsa Gabor's mother and sister into the next row. First is Frank's dad, his mother, his uncle Vincent, then Frank, then a spot (perhaps for his current wife, Barbara), then his friend Jilly, and then his mother and father-in-law.

His way - Home Sinatra built from the ground up
(7 Dec 2015) LEAD-IN:
It's best wishes and birthday greetings for Ol' Blue Eyes. December 12 marks famed late crooner Frank Sinatra's 100th birthday.
The Rat Pack singer lived in various locations during his 82 years. His home in the Palm Springs Desert is now a popular rental property, frequented by music fans and Sinatra obsessives.
STORY-LINE:
Like so many things in his life, Frank Sinatra did it his way.
The Twin Palms Estate, set among the Palm Springs Desert, is the only house Ol' Blue Eyes ever built completely from the ground up.
Today, architectural historians say it's the personification of desert contemporary modernism.
In 2011, it was designated as a Class 1 Historical Site by the City of Palm Springs.
It's also a popular tourist destination, in an area once known as a playground for the rich and famous.
According to William Sayegh, a member of the concierge team at Beau Monde Villas, Sinatra was attracted to the area and felt it was his spot in the world.
The singer and actor commissioned the retreat at the height of his early fame after he made his first million dollars.
He originally paid 150,000 US dollars for the air-conditioned desert property. It remained his primary home from 1948 till 1957.
Sinatra named it the 'Twin Palms Estate' after the twin palm trees on the front lawn. They still remain there to this day.
One of the great aspects of this house is that Frank Sinatra bought the empty land and had the house built, says Sayegh.
And he was flying around in his plane looking for a site and saw the two twin palm trees in the backyard which are still here and decided this is where he wanted to build his house. He bought the two lots of land and built this wonderful estate with a swimming pool on one lot of land and the house of the other lot of land.
Sinatra arrived in the desert town in 1947, with him he brought the allure and sex appeal of glamorous Hollywood.
Soon Palm Springs became a jet set destination for Hollywood's royalty. Neighbours included comedian and actor Jack Benny, actor Cary Grant and singer Al Jolsen.
The sprawling one floor estate boasts two addresses - the swimming pool and cabana are on one lot of land, the house on the other.
Spanning 45-hundred square feet (4,180 square metres), the address boasts four bedrooms, seven bathrooms and a swimming pool shaped like a piano.
Now operated by Beau Monde Villas as a luxury rental property, it's claimed to be the most popular destination to rent in Palm Springs.
Architectural historian, Robert Imber, gets a kick out of the home's design. Specifically tailored to Sinatra's taste for Georgian architecture, he says.
He wanted a Georgian styled house. He was very knowledgeable of architecture - loved architecture apparently. They gave him drawings both for Georgian and for contemporary. The mid-century architecture, importantly, was simply the architecture of the day, the contemporary architecture of the day, says Imber, who is also the owner of Palm Springs Modern Tours.
He was then married to Ava Gardner, chose this, and lived here for a good number of years. When this house was built, it was in the middle of nowhere, open desert as far as you could see. There was a landing strip someplace nearby. You flew you're plane out, you looked for Frank's house in the desert and walked over for cocktails.
The property's current owners have gone to great lengths to keep as much of the home as possible, they've even added some extra Sinatra memorabilia. Sinatra himself designed the master suite.
Unique features include a piano-shaped swimming pool, Sinatra's original Valentino recording equipment, a self-playing piano and period furniture from the era.
Sinatra and Gardner were married in 1951 and divorced in 1957.

Famous Grave - Singer JERRY VALE's Crypt At Forest Lawn, Cathedral City, CA
Singer Jerry Vale died May 18, 2014, in Palm Desert, California, at the age of 83. He is interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, in Cathedral City, California. I grew up in the 1950s and 1960s listening to pop music groups The Beatle, The Rolling Stones and The Mamas And The Papas, but I also listened to singers like Jerry Vale. I would listen to Sinatra and Martin and Vale on our local desert radio station KWXY, which is now 107.3 MOD FM. And they're still playing Jerry Vale songs every day and I'm still listening. Frank Sinatra's Grave - About to Vanish
After nearly 5 years I revisited Frank Sinatra's Grave.
Birth: Dec. 12, 1915
Hoboken
Hudson County
New Jersey, USA
Death: May 14, 1998
West Hollywood
Los Angeles County
California, USA
Entertainer. Regarded by many as the greatest popular singer of the 20th Century, he was nicknamed The Voice, Ol Blue Eyes and Chairman of the Board. Born Francis Albert Sinatra in Hoboken, New Jersey, the son and only child of an Italian immigrant fireman, his mother Dolly was a midwife. Legend has it that one day he heard Bing Crosby singing and decided this would be the career path he was to embark upon. His initial break came in 1935, when he received first prize in a radio contest. He eventually caught the attention of bandleader Harry James, resulting in their collaboration, which included his first recordings in 1939 and moved onto the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra with whom he recorded the hit I'll Never Smile Again (1941).
His breakthrough role as an actor would be his playing the doomed Angelo Maggio in the Oscar-garnered From Here to Eternity (1953), for which he received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and earned respect as an accomplished dramatic performer. This was followed by Guys and Dolls (1955), The Man With the Golden Arm (1955, which earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor playing heroin addict Frankie Machine), The Joker Is Wild (1957), Pal Joey (1957) and The Manchurian Candidate (1962). His singing career was also back on track, this time with a richer vocal style heard in the hits In the Wee Small Hours (1956), Come Fly With Me (1956), Nice n' Easy (1960), My Way (1969) and Theme From New York New York (1980). By the end of the 1950s, he had divorced Ava Gardner and established an exclusive circle of friends unofficially called The Rat Pack, which included Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop (among the films they starred in are the original Ocean's Eleven (1960) and Sergeant's 3 (1962), becoming a bill-topping act in Las Vegas. During this period, Sinatra established the Reprise record label. He received Grammy Awards for the singles It Was a Very Good Year (1966) and Strangers in the Night (1967), also for the albums September of My Years and A Man and His Music (1967). While filming Von Ryan's Express (1965), he met actress Mia Farrow, whom he married in 1966 (until 1968). He had a brief retirement during the early 1970s, only to return and marry Barbara Marx (who was formerly married to Zeppo Marx of the Marx Brothers) in 1976. In 1988, there would be a brief reunion and tour of the Rat Pack and during the 1990s more success with his Duets recordings. Not long after celebrating his 80th birthday in 1995, his health began to decline as he suffered a heart attack in November 1996 and a fatal one on May 14th, 1998.

FAMOUS GRAVE TOUR: Frank & Barbara Sinatra, William Powell & Others At Desert Park Memorial
On this Memorial Day I remember my first visit to the Punchbowl, or the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific and the USS Arizona memorial in Honolulu, Hawaii. It was my first visit to a cemetery and I've been visiting cemeteries ever since.
I also remember my great grandfather, grandfather, uncle and brother who all served in the armed forces. Thankfully, none of them died during their service, but they have all passed on since, but are not forgotten.

Visiting 2-time Grammy winner Harry Nilsson's grave, at the Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Cemetery In Westlake, California, brought back lots of great memories from my teenage years. The singer-songwriter is one of my favorites. And even though he died too young, he will always be remembered, like his beautiful song Remember, which is also his epitaph.
