Lido is located on the northern tip of the Great War Island, on the Danube. It is actually a small, pointed sandy beach without permanent residents, which covers just small fragment of the island, as the entire Great War Island is protected by the law and urbanization is not allowed.

Zemun je, zahvaljujući odličnom položaju na obali Dunava naseljen još u neolitu. Nekada zaseban grad, od 1945. je opština u sastavu grada Beograda. Posebni dragulji Zemuna su Veliko ratno ostrvo sa plažom Lido, oaza zelenila i rezervat ptica, kao i Zemunska tvrđava sa Milenijumskom kulom na Gardošu odakle se pruža najbolji panoramski pogled na grad. Zemun ima brojne kulturno-istorijske spomenike, ali i galerije, radnje zaboravljenih zanata ugostiteljske objekte, hotele, kafane, splavove.

Thanks to its excellent location on the banks of the Danube, Zemun has been inhabited since the Neolithic period. Formerly a separate city, in 1945 it was officially incorporated into the City of Belgrade. Some of the special gems of Zemun are the Great War Island with its famous Lido Beach, an oasis of greenery and an important reserve for birds, and Zemun Fortress on Gardos with its Millennium Tower offering the best panoramic views of the city. Zemun also has numerous cultural and historical monuments, as well as galleries, restaurants, accommodation, bars, waterfront rafts, shops selling forgotten crafts, and much more.
Serbia - Belgrad - Rzeka Sawa i Dunaj - 2016. w HD
Sawa – rzeka na granicy Europy Zachodniej (Kotliny Panońskiej) i Europy Południowej (Półwyspu Bałkańskiego). Największy prawy dopływ Dunaju. Długość – 940 km, powierzchnia zlewni – 95 719 km², średni przepływ – 255 m³/s w Zagrzebiu, 1722 m³/s u ujścia w Belgradzie.
Źródła Sawy znajdują się w Alpach Julijskich, nieopodal zbiegu granic Austrii, Słowenii i Włoch. Płynie w ogólnym kierunku południowo-wschodnim. Przepływa między innymi przez stolicę Słowenii Lublanę i przez stolicę Chorwacji Zagrzeb. W przybliżeniu od okolic Zagrzebia nabiera charakteru rzeki nizinnej – z powolnym nurtem, szeroką doliną i licznymi meandrami. W dolnym biegu dolina Sawy jest miejscami zabagniona. Uchodzi do Dunaju w stolicy Serbii Belgradzie, gdzie oddziela od centrum miasta dzielnicę Zemun, niegdyś odrębne miasto.
Sawa płynie przez terytoria Słowenii, Chorwacji i Serbii, a w środkowym biegu stanowi północną granicę Bośni i Hercegowiny. Do 1918 Sawa stanowiła granicę pomiędzy Austro-Węgrami a Serbią. Bieg Kupy, Sawy i Dunaju jest uważany za północną granicę Półwyspu Bałkańskiego.
Sawa jest trzecim co do długości (po Cisie i Prucie), a najdłuższym z prawobrzeżnych dopływów Dunaju. Jest najbogatszym w wodę dopływem Dunaju. Na całej swej długości Sawa zbiera liczne i obfite dopływy – prawe głównie z Gór Dynarskich, lewe głównie z panońskich gór wyspowych w Slawonii. Dorzecze Sawy wykazuje znaczną asymetrię – jego prawobrzeżna część jest dużo większa, również pięć najdłuższych dopływów Sawy – Kupa, Una, Vrbas, Bosna i Drina to dopływy prawostronne.
Sawa jest żeglowna od ujścia Kupy w mieście Sisak.

Veliko ratno ostrvo (Belgrade's Great War Island)
The movie “Belgrade’s Great War Island” was created as a short wildlife film with the idea of educating its viewers about the life which unfolds on the island, in the center of Belgrade.
The movie was filmed as a part of a student assignment and a final course project. The authors of the movie did not have any previous experience in filmmaking, particularly not in this genre. All work related to production was done by the authors themselves: from the initial filming to the editing process, the writing, sound design and music selection; as well as color correction and subtitles. Nevertheless, the final realization of the movie would not have been possible without the support of the professors, narrator and other students, and the college itself, which provided the filming equipment.

Највећи орао Европе, орао белорепан (Haliaeetus albicilla), распона крила од 2-2,4 м, гнезди се на Великом ратном острву, у самом центру Београда, на ушћу Саве у Дунав. Гнездо је удаљено 2,5 км од центра Београда па представља јединствену атракцију за европске метрополе.
Гнезде се на старијим високим стаблима у лишћарским шумама. Београдски орлови, Радован и Руменка, су своје гнездо направили на висини од 22 метра.
Гнездо је импозантна грађевина ширине два и по метра.
Због специфичне позиције гнезда, које се налази на острву које је плавно и на њему нема електричне енергије, поставити камеру за праћење активности у гнезду био је прави изазов.
Камера је постављена на стубу висине 23 метра, а струја која напаја целокупну опрему за видео стриминг обезбеђена је помоћу соларних панела и батерија.
Орао белорепан је угрожена и строго заштићена врста која насељава претежно Војводину у Србији. Убијања, тровања и уништавања њихових станишта су узроци пропaдања ове врсте. Видео надзор је једна од мера заштите гнезда орла у милионском Београду. Циљ преноса сигнала са гнезда преко интернета је да се приближити значај Великог ратног острва београђанима и да им се омогући да могу да гледају орлове без потребе њиховог узнемиравања.
The largest eagle in Europe (Haliaeetus albicilla) with wingspan of 2 to 2.4 m, nests on the Great War Island, in the city center of Belgrade, at confluence of Sava and the Danube rivers. The nest is located 2.5 km from the city center and represents a unique attraction for European cities.
Belgrade eagles, named Radovan and Rumenka, have made their nest in the deciduous forest on Great war island, on very high tree, at a hight of 22 meters.
Imposing structure of a neest is up to eight feet wide.
Due to the specific position of the nest, which is located on the island, sometimes affected by floods and there is no electricity, installing the camera to monitor activities in the nest was a real challenge.
The camera is placed on a pillar which is 23 meters high. Power for the whole video streaming equipment is provided by solar panels and batteries.
Haliaeetus albicilla is an endangered and strictly protected species that inhabits mostly Vojvodina in Serbia. Killing, poisoning and destruction of their habitats causes deterioration of this species. Video surveillance is one of the measures to protect the eagle nests in Belgrade. The objective of live video streaming from the nest is to emphasize the significance of Great War Island to Belgrade citizens and enable them to watch eagles without disturbing them.
