Visiting Oahu in a Day - Oahu Day Tour
Get my free travel guide now! (CLICK LINK) Going Solo: a Complete Guide to Help You Plan Your Trip of a Lifetime.
Hi Federico. Your guide on travelling solo is awesome!! I can't stop reading it. Thanks x!-Agness, reader.
In this episode I join a circle island tour of Oahu, giving me the opportunity to see some of the best of the island in just one day. While the island is not very big there are indeed many things to see and do in Oahu, and an Oahu day tour makes this process much easier. Sure, you might not spend as much time as you'd like in each of the spots you visit, but if you do have a few days (which you probably do) you can always come back!
There is one thing that I really enjoyed about this day tour versus others I have been in and that is that besides learning what there is to do in Hawaii's main island the driver is enthusiastic, fun and knowledgeable. Many of the things he will explain are difficult to learn if you're on your own, so paying attention does make the trip more fun.
My favourite spots of all those visited were Hanauma Bay and the Byodo temple. Just a couple of days before I had snorkelled in Hanauma Bay (check my other video about my experience here and visit my blog for more information on these and other places visited in thw tour) and it's something you must not miss as the bay is so close to Waikiki beach.
The places to visit in Oahu that this tour covers are a good selection, considering how much is being covered, but I highly recommend you do go again on your own. For example, the tour does not stop in Turtle Bay, probably the easiest place in Oahu where to conveniently spot and swim with turtles without having to pay for a tour (check my other video of this place There is a nice hotel and a few surf breaks nearby if you want to ride some waves while here.
I was less impressed with the Dole pineapple plantation; this is obviously a marketing stop to get tourists to spend some money. Sure, you will learn a few things about pineapples but like me you probably did not come to Hawaii for this. On the other hand, by the time you get here you will have already endured about 10 hours or more of the Oahu day tour, hence it's an opportunity to stretch your legs.
Finally, make sure you also read this post from my budget travel blog with 5 tips that I guarantee will save you money when there, from where to find the cheapest surfboards for rent to the cheapest car rental agency in the island

Welcome to #Honolulu, Hawaii’s capital found on the island of Oahu. Whether you’re here to live the life of a beach bum or want to explore the city’s lush tropical surroundings, you’ll find everything you’re looking for on your Honolulu #vacation.
Hawaii had a pretty explosive inception—Diamond Head Crater, also called Leahi, started life as an active volcano. Don’t worry; it’s since gone dormant, which means you can climb to the rim and take in a truly brilliant view of the coast.
Head to the water and go paddleboarding or swimming; “Honolulu” means “sheltered bay,” and the beachfront here lives up to its name: It’s calm and sheltered year-round.
Honolulu #sightseeing must include a day at Pearl Harbor, and a #visit downtown to take in Honolulu’s history.
For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

When ready, browse vacation packages to Hawaii’s Big Island:
A #Hawaii #vacation means days filled with natural wonders: wander around a lava field, stroll through a tropical rainforest, and take a dip in the warm waters of the Pacific.
The Onomea Bay Scenic Drive, located along the Hamakua Coast, will take you past shimmering emerald rainforest and astonishing glimpses of the tranquil Pacific Ocean. It’s the perfect place to get some pictures and see what the beauty of Hawaii is really about.
No #tour of Hawaii’s Big Island is complete without meeting the sea turtles of Kahalu’u Bay. Strap on your snorkel and swim around the warm, blue-green waters of the bay to meet turtles and thousands of other sea creatures.
Try out paddleboarding, jet skiing, or a variety of other watersports. Alternatively, spoil yourself in the time-honored indulgence of relaxing on the black lava sands, soaking up some of the legendary Hawaiian sunshine.

Exploring HONOLULU, HAWAII: Walking to Waikiki Beach
Honolulu - City Video Guide
Honolulu is located on the Polynesian island O'ahu, in the middle of the North Pacific Ocean. It is the capital of Hawaii, The 50th American state.
Surf and sun are Honolulu's two main draws. Waikiki is the most vibrant downtown beach (swimming, paddle boarding and sailing are favourite activities). Ala Moana Beach Park and Kailua Beach offer quieter alternatives.
Kapi'olani Park boasts ancient banyan trees and an attractive beach front. It is also home to the historic Honolulu Zoo.
Iolani Palace is America's only royal palace. The Bishop Museum tells of the Polynesian voyagers who came to Honolulu long before Captain Cook. Downtown has a statue of fearless warrior King Kamehameha, who unified the Hawaiian islands in the late 18th century. Pearl Harbor is a favourite site with history lovers.
The Lēʻahi (Diamond Head) crater serves as a reminder of Hawaii's explosive beginnings, and has commanding views over the island. The Aloha Tower provides more great vistas of the city.

Honolulu - Oahu #13 in World's Best Places to Visit
Oahu blends cosmopolitan luxury and breathtaking scenery more than any other Hawaiian island. The state's capital city, Honolulu, showcases the island's urban appeal. Nearby you'll find a host of cultural and historical sites, from the austere USS Arizona Memorial to ornate 'Iolani Palace. In the nearby Waikiki neighborhood, a skyline of high-rises and resort hotels contrasts with sprawling white-sand beaches. For a taste of rural Hawaii, visit the North Shore. Here, you'll find the most brilliant blue waters and meandering hikes. But those three spots aren't all Oahu offers. Its high-class restaurants, vibrant cultural events, and wild nightlife further showcase this island as a Gathering Place of Hawaiian culture.

Shock! Camping on Oahu | #31 Travel Guide, Hawaii
Oahu has a lot to offer. There is the famous Waikiki Beach, Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head and the northern and eastern beaches to name just a few.
But first we talk about camping. Because accommodation is so expensive on all of the Hawaiian Islands we decided to go camping. Everything you need you can buy at Walmart for about 120 USD. Including a tent, an airbed, a stove and some other camping gear. But as we learned later, camping on Oahu is not like camping in Europe or Africa. There are only cold outdoor showers, no lights, no electricity, no camping store or restaurant and mostly there is not even a mirror. We were a bit disappointed but in case you don’t mind having low comfort, it’s a good option to stay at a beautiful beach at a reasonable price.
Enjoy a Waikiki Sunset:
It’s the place of the rich and the surfers. It has a beautiful beach which is divided by all the top hotel brands but it still has the cool surfer vibe of all the surfers hanging out in the waves. We stayed for two nights in a hostel and besides the immense traffic absolutely loved this buzzing city.
Climb up Diamond Head:
This is the name of the crater rim right next to Honolulu. The view on the way up and from up there is unique and definitely worth the hike. But be prepared to share it with some others. As even on a Monday it was quite crowded up there.
Become a Pineapple Addict:
Hawaii is one of the biggest pineapple producers in the world and Dole one of the key players. In its “World of Pineapple” you can learn everything you want to know about pineapples and even take a trip with the Pineapple Express.
Get Brain Freezed with Shave Ice:
Shave Ice is as much Hawaiian as somehow possible. So, grab yourself a cup and enjoy. But make sure you don’t get brain freezed.
Watch the Surfers at the North Shore:
The place to be for all surfers and those who like to watch them. As we both tried and failed at surfing on previous trips, we belonged to the second group. We grabbed ourselves a shaved ice and watched them doing their tricks. And afterwards we went wave jumping which was a lot of fun too.
Relax at the eastern beaches and snorkel Hanauma Bay:
Probably the most beautiful beaches on the island are on its east side. They are perfect for relaxing and snorkeling and the best place to do that is Hanauma Bay. The reef there is very healthy with lots of fishes and the rangers there are doing an excellent job protecting it. Besides many colorful fishes we saw a species of trigger fish we have never seen before.
Explore the History of Pearl Harbour:
A must do while on Hawaii because it is a place where history has been wrapped up. Interestingly the story of the attack is not only shown from the US perspective, but also from the Japanese perspective and of the Japanese descendants living on Hawaii. It also gives you the opportunity to inspect a gigantic battle ship from up close and to see the place where the 2nd world war has ended. When we were there it was mostly gray and rainy but that gave this dark place of history even more atmosphere.

Honolulu (Hawaii) Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination Honolulu in the Unites States of America.
Honolulu Airport is world famous for the novel way in which it welcomes its visitors. A sweetly scented floral chain is placed around the neck of all those who arrive and the friendly smiles of the local people are irresistible. Normal routine is cast aside and dreams become reality.
The Hawaiian Islands are located in the Pacific Ocean and make up the 50th state of the United States of America. The island of Oahu is situated in the centre of the archipelago. The modern city of Honolulu is the capital of both Oahu and all the other islands. It is also the starting point of numerous excursions.
King David Kalakaua had the Iolani Palace built, a magnificent Victorian structure situated in the centre of Honolulu and the only royal palace in the USA.
The Nu'uanu Pali Valley is of great importance in Hawaiian history. It was there that a decisive battle took place when King Kamehameh arrived from Maui and triumphantly drove the troops of the O´ahu chief into the mountains, a battle that gave rise to the political union of the Hawaiian Islands.
Close to Honolulu, Pearl Harbor was the scene of a major military tragedy. During an unexpected attack, practically the whole of the American Pacific fleet was bombed by the Japanese and destroyed. The attack on the U.S. naval base was the ultimate reason that the United States eventually took part in the Second World War.
In winter, the most dedicated surfers collect on Sunset Beach to experience the world's most sought-after waves, some of which are as high as the tallest church steeples. Between Kawela Bay and Haleiwa, each winter the best surfers in the world meet for the Surfing World Championships.
'Aloha!' is Hawaii's magical word. It means 'Welcome', 'Good-Bye' and also 'Love'. Life is so simple in paradise!
