Hello and welcome to the Gunsan Modern History Museum. The museum was founded in 2011 with an aim to preserve and promote the historical and cultural heritages of the Gunsan region. The museum is divided into different halls, each with different themes. In the Main Hall under the theme “Past, Present and Future of the International Trade Port in Gunsan,” you will find relics that show Gunsan’s history from the Prehistoric to the Modern Age. The themes in other halls of the museum include “Life and Culture,” which presents the way of life of Gunsan residents throughout the city’s history; “Sea Logistics,” showing the city’s geographical importance as a lively port for distribution and trade; “Sea and Culture,” which introduces the ways the sea has influenced the culture and history of Gunsan and Gogunsan; and “Relics Exploration,” highlighting the various relics uncovered in Gunsan and its surrounding areas. This was one of the rare occasions where we were able to actually stay in one place for a few days! It was nice, I was able to edit two of the vLogs here! But, moving right along, we actually ate at an awesome Bakery called Lee Sung Dang, visited the Gunsan Modern History Museum, and saw a Japanese Built Buddhist Temple that's now ran by Koreans called: Dongguksa. 군산은 국내 최대의 곡창지대에서 나는 쌀과 곡식이 모이는 곳이다.
조선시대에는 경제 군사의 요충지 중 한 곳이었다.
일제강점기 미곡수탈이 절정에 달했던 1934년, 200만석 이상의 쌀이 군산항을 통해 빠져나갔다.
일제의 수탈 증거로 남아있는 근대건축물 조선은행 군산지점.
미곡수탈과 농지수탈을 위한 자금 관리를 위해 세워진 근대건축물들은 어떻게 변신했는지 살펴본다.
조선의 쌀을 수탈하기 위해 일본이 만든 군산항 뜬다리 부두.
조수간만의 차를 극복하기 위해 근대과학의 원리로 만든 뜬다리 부두의 비밀에 대해서 살펴본다.

#3_군산 해망굴(HAEMANG TUNNEL IN GUNSAN) 360 VR영상
군산 해망굴
군산시의 월명산 자락 북쪽 끝에 자리한 해망령을 관통하는 터널로서 수산물의 중심지인 해망동과 군산시내를 연결하기 위해 만들어진 것으로 1926년에 시작된 제 3차 축항공사를 통해 화물하차장 확대, 부잔교 추가설치, 창고건설 등이 수행되었고 해망굴도 이 과정에서 완공된 것이다.
한국전쟁 중에는 군산에 진주한 인민군 지휘소가 이곳에 자리하여 매일 같이 연합군과 공군기들의 기관총 폭격을 받아 총알자국이 남아 있었다고 한다.
현재는 자동차의 출입을 막아 보행자만 통과가 가능하다
군산항의 제3차 축항공사 기간이었던 1926년 10월 16일 당시 구시청 앞도로인 명치통(중앙로1가)과 수산업의 중심지인 해망동을 연결하고자 건설했다. 길이 131m 높이 4.5m이다.

Gunsan is the city that well-preserved historical sites of Japanese colonial period. so you can visit Gunsan Modern History Museum and Japanese style houses in Sinheung-Dong. It is traditional houses of Japanese style, which was constructed by Hiroth, a Japanese fabric dealer of large scale during the colonial era. It has a great architectural value as the roof, finishing touch of an outer wall, and the inner garden is kept as they were when it was first constructed. It is also a place of filming the movies, such as The son of the general and Tajja.

대한제국(1908년/순종 2년 6월)에 만들어졌으며 당시 전하는 말에 따르면 불란서 사람 혹은 독일 사람이 설계하고 벨기에에서 붉은 벽돌과 건축자재를 수입하여 건축했다는 설이 있다.
군산세관은 많은 부속건물이 있었으나 현재는 모두 헐리고 본관건물만이 남아 있으며, 국내에 현존하는 서양고전주의 3대 건축물 중의 하나로 현재는 호남관세전시관으로 활용되고 있다.
1905년 기울어가던 대한제국의 자금으로 시작된 제1차 군산항 축항공사기간 (1905~1910) 중인 1908년(순종2년) 6월에 만들어졌다. 서양식 단층 건물로 건평은 약 69평 이었다.
전하는 말에 의하면 불란서 또는 독일 사람이 설계하고 벨기에에서 붉은 벽돌과 건축자재를 수입하여 건축했다고 한다. 건물의 지붕은 고딕양식이고 창문은 로마네스크 양식이며 현관의 처마를 끄집어 낸 것은 영국의 건축양식으로 전체적으로 유럽의 건축양식을 융합한 근세 일본 건축의 특징을 지니고 있다.

군산 근대역사의 굴곡과 그럼에도 꿋꿋했던 민중들의 생활상까지 다양하게 담고 있는 근대역사박물관. 안녕하세요? 반갑습니다. 이곳에 오니까 군산의 과거 속으로 쏙 들어온 것 같아요. 우리 군산 근대역사박물관은 ‘역사를 잊은 민족에게는 미래가 없다’라는 주제 하에 1930년대 시간 여행이라는 테마로 1930년대의 생활상을 둘러볼 수 있는 많은 볼거리가 준비되어 있습니다. 박물관 내에서 가장 인기 있는 곳이 이 근대생활관인데요. 1930년대 군산에 실존했던 12곳을 고스란히 재현해 두었습니다. 그 시절 문화공간의 모습도 슬쩍 엿볼 수 있는데요. 영화와 연극을 번갈아 상영했던 극장. 군산전입니다. 근대식 문화가 꽃 피었던 1930년대. 하지만 그보다도 민족적 아픔이 컸던 시기인데요. 근대골목을 거닐다 마주친 쓰라린 역사의 장소들. 연간 약 200만석의 쌀을 일본으로 실어 보내야 했던 군산항과 부잔교입니다. 개항 이후부터 광복 이전까지 끊임없이 일제에 시달려야 했던 수탈의 상처는 지금도 아프기만 한데요.
