Hamburg, Stadtpark, Alster Canal Tour - Germany 4K Travel Channel
The Alster canal tour by boat starts at Jungfernstieg, a street on the southern shore of the Binnenalster Lake in Hamburg.
Across the Binnen and Outer Alster Lake we reach the Alster canals. Past the best residential areas and through wildly overgrown channels, you experience Hamburg from a completely different side.
Despite the fact that the weather is not always the best in Hamburg, the people in Hamburger use the first sunrays to have fun on and around the water.
This huge recreational area offers a variety of water sports such as boating, canoe paddling, sailing, windsurfing or swimming.
The canal tour leads us along the Osterbeck channel, the Barmbeker branch canal, past the bay with the Cafe Sommer-Terassen. On the Goldbekkanal the boat makes a short side trip to the Stadtparksee, the lake in the city park, before we reach the Rondeelteich, the first address of Hamburg.
We return to the Outer and Inner Alster Lake before we reach the end of our Alster canal tour at Jungfernstieg.

Hamburg, AIDAluna and AIDAsol leave the Port of Hamburg - Germany 4K Travel Channel
AIDAluna and AIDAsol belong to the so-called Sphinx class and can accommodate up to 2,500 passengers and 600 crew members.
The cruise ships were built by the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg. Owned by the Costa Crociere SpA which in turn is part of Carnival Corporation & plc.
To see both ships at the same time is quite impressive, especially the maneuvers carried out in the not too broad Hamburg harbor.
Shortly before the AIDAluna set sail the container ship Yang Ming Uniformity reached the harbor and was towed to its mooring.

Hamburg, Harbor and Elbe Cruising - Germany 4K Travel Channel
In bright sunshine we set off in Hamburg harbor which is already in hectic operation. At first we saw the Queen Elizabeth of the Cunard Line, lying in dry dock for maintenance purposes and a cruise ships sailing in front of the Elbe Philharmonic Hall. In addition ferries and cruise ships, the Louisiana Star a Mississippi paddle steamer is crossing our course. The museum ship Cap San Diego is still at anchor. Built in 1942, the gaff schooner Godland now serves for diving excursions or seminars.
At its launch in 2013, the container ship NYK Hyperion with 13200 TEU belonged to the biggest container ships worldwide. The CMA CGM Jade and the Gunvor Maersk, also two major container ships were currently loaded and unloaded.
Past the picturesque village of Blankenese we sail towards Wedel; here the ships are welcomed with their national anthem. Before the beach of Wittenbergen a historic three -master lies at anchor. The return journey takes us past the Airbus plant Finkenwerder. Some Airbus A380 are ready for delivery, especially for the Emirates.
We were allowed to watch the captain of the Elb-Hüpfer (Elb-hopper) at his work on the bridge where he as well competently answered all questions of his passengers . In Burchhard Kai he maneuvered skillfully past the container ship MOL Competence, Beijing COSCO, CMA CGM Cassiopeia, Morsum and ZIM Los Angeles.

Hamburg - Our trip to Hamburg, Germany in Summer 2014
Hamburg in Germany is a great city. Especially the port district, called Hafencity, is very beautiful.
Things to do in Hamburg:
Eat a Crab Sandwich (or Fish Sandwich) at Brücke 10. If your are at Hamburg your have to eat at least one and this is the best place to do that. In my opinion the Salmon Sandwich with pepper was even better, so give both a try. You can see the Crab Sandwich at 0:52
Visit the Hamburg Hafencity. A mix of a lot of new and old buildings.
Visit the Hamburg Fish Market (Hamburger Fischmarkt). Its only on sunday and you have to wake up very early. The market is open from 5 AM to 9:30 AM. But it is very cool and you can buy a lot of things (not only fish) very cheap, e.g. plants. I ate there delicious calamari and drank a very good coffee. In the Video at 1:05
If your come to Hamburg its a good idea to visit a Musical. We watched The Lion King (Der König der Löwen)
A boat tour through the Hamburg Port is also very cool. There are lot of boats where you can do that.
Visit the Reeperbahn, the red light district in Hamburg. A must when you are there. In the Video at 1:03.

Elbe River ferry ride Hamburg City Tour: to St. Pauli-Landungsbrücken fähre station HVV Student Card
Ferry ride on the Elbe River approaching St. Pauli-Landungsbrücken farhe station using HVV Student card
Short note on the destination seen being approached:
The floating dock - called the Landungsbrücken (landing stages) – is 700 metres long. Harbour tours and the HADAG steamers to Finkenwerder, Oevelgönne and Blankenese leave from this water station. Impressive luxury cruisers also dock here from time to time.
Standing here - the water on one side, and on the other colourful souvenir shops with waterfront memories and quaint fish restaurants with fresh cutter plaice or North Sea shrimps - it is easy to forget that you are walking on a floating platform. The first pontoons were built in 1839 and served as docks for steam ships because the coal they needed for their engines could be stored here. Similarly, the fire in the boilers, as a potential hazard, was kept far away from the actual harbour. From 1907 to 1909, the facility was greatly expanded - and heavily damaged in the Second World War. Today's pier area has existed since its reconstruction from 1953 to 1955, and a car once drove at extremely high speed across the bridges for a movie thriller. The water tower on the east side of the water station shows the time and the water level and also rings the ship's bell every half hour.
Nearby Places to visit includes :
The Elbphilharmonie is a concert hall in the HafenCity quarter of Hamburg, Germany, on the Grasbrook (de) peninsula of the Elbe River. It is one of the largest and most acoustically advanced concert halls in the world. It is popularly nicknamed Elphi.
The new glassy construction resembles a hoisted sail, water wave or quartz crystal; it sits on top of an old warehouse building (Kaispeicher A, built 1963) near the historical Speicherstadt and is designed by architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron. It is the tallest inhabited building in Hamburg, with a final height of 108 metres (354 ft).
The Elbphilharmonie was officially inaugurated with concerts of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra and a light show on 11 January 2017.

LEGOLAND Visit and review videos:
The city of Hamburg has a well-deserved reputation as Germany's Gateway to the World. It is the country's biggest port and the second-busiest in Europe, despite being located astride the River Elbe, some 100 kilometres from the North Sea. It is also Germany's second largest city with a population of over 1.8 million and the Greater Hamburg Metropolitan Region has a population of over four million. Hamburg is proud of its status as a Free and Hanseatic City and thus shares the same status as a province, making up one of Germany's 16 federal-states or Bundesländer.
Top tip: Most hotel offers you a travel card that allows you to travel on bus, tram and metro for free including the famous ferry 63 ride.
Townhall:
Hamburg's impressive city hall (Rathaus) was built in 1897 out of sandstone in Neo-Renaissance style, including a 112 m tower. Inside there are several magnificent halls used for representative purposes and sittings of government and parliament.
Harbour:
Landungsbrücken (landing bridges), the most touristy part of Hamburg's harbour, close to the metro station with the same name. Piers connected with several bridges swim on the water adapting to the tide. There tourism boats land and you will find tourist shops, restaurants, and snack bars. The sailing ship Rickmer Rickmers can be visited.
Reeperbahn Red Light District:
Another Hamburg landmark is the Reeperbahn in Sankt Pauli. It's probably one of the most famous red-light districts in the world. From vaudeville to prostitutes, from bars to sex-shops, you can find an assortment of attractions. Plus, it is frequently visited by a lot of travelers to go shopping for a huge variety of sex-related articles and toys. This is probably one of very few places worldwide where all shopkeepers give you serious and open advice on all kinds of sex-related articles.
Planten un Blomen is a park in the city with an emphasis on flower displays. Subway station Dammtor.
St. Michaeliskirche Protestant baroque church, the building as it is known today was built in 1786.

The outer Alster , which is about 164 hectares and up to 4.5 meters deep, is the larger, northern part of the Alster lake. It is fed by the Alster in the north and the Osterbek and Wandse in the east. It flows in the south into the Binnenalster.
Alsterpark is situated around the Außenalster , the western part of which was expanded at the same time as the International Horticultural Exhibition (IGA) in 1953. Here you have - with a few exceptions - a clear view of the Alster. This is particularly appealing at the annual fireworks on the occasion of the Cherry Blossom Festival of the Japanese community in Hamburg. This fireworks display was first held in 1968 to commemorate the planting of around 5,000 cherry trees in the city, donated by Japanese firms based in the Hanseatic city. [6]
Footpaths and cycle paths that are popular with hamburgers for recreation and jogging are located around this reservoir . The almost continuously located on the shore path was marked for joggers and runners with half kilometer stones and is 7.4 kilometers long. [7] The outer Alster itself especially for sailing and rowing as well as for pedal boats used and standup paddleboarding. As a sailing area, it is considered not so easy, since the frequently changing wind conditions by the edge development and the merging streets require a lot of skill of the sailors - also applies here on the water basically right before left ( Alster steamer excluded, the commercial shipping always has priority).

St. Michael's Church - Walking Tour, Hamburg, Germany 4K UHD
St. Michael's Church - Walking Tour, Hamburg, Germany 4K UHD
St. Michael's Church (German: Hauptkirche Sankt Michaelis) is one of Hamburg's five Lutheran main churches (Hauptkirchen) and the most famous church in the city. St. Michaelis is a landmark of the city and it is considered to be one of the finest Hanseatic Protestant baroque churches. The church was purposely built Protestant unlike many other Hamburg churches which were originally built by Roman Catholics and were converted to Protestantism during the Reformation. It is dedicated to the Archangel Michael. A large bronze statue, standing above the portal of the church shows the archangel conquering the devil.
The 132-meter high Baroque spire totally covered with copper is a prominent feature of Hamburg’s skyline and has always been a landfall mark for ships sailing up the river Elbe.
The present church building is the third one at this site. The first one was built from 1647 to 1669. It became the church of the new town (Neustadt), which was created in 1625 inside the new city walls, and which grew steadily since. In 1687, the Michel became the fifth chapter church (Hauptkirche), as the new town (Neustadt) became a parish. That church was destroyed on March 10, 1750, by a lightning strike. The original church has been replicated and built in 9 different cities around the world.
In 1786, a new construction following the design of Johann Leonhard Prey (de) and Ernst Georg Sonnin (de) was completed. This is the church as we know it today. It was reconstructed twice in the 20th century: after catching fire in 1906 during construction work and after the bombings of 1944 and 1945. Since 1983, renovation is ongoing: first the spire and then the roof.
The composer and pianist Johannes Brahms was baptized on May 26, 1833 in this church and confirmed at the age of fifteen by Pastor von Ahlsen, who had married Brahms's parents.
