Survival GILL NETTING (Usually ILLEGAL!) | Rare Underwater Footage
I test out the cheapest fishing survival gill net on Amazon in a private stocked pond. Originally, we tried to fish out all our trout, but this got to be quite the job since the fish shied away from worms, and lures (preferring pellet feed). As the season wore on, we decided to try to bowfish, spearfish and now, since it iced over, gill net the pond in effort to harvest all our stocked fish.
I will show you rare underwater video from a go pro of a fish actually being caught in the gill net. I will teach you exactly how to hang and use a gill net to catch fish and the size of the mesh you should use. Should you ever find yourself in a survival situation, a gill net is a huge asset. This gill net is super illegal in most areas, so please be careful using them. Even better, let me test out the gill net! If the nets are legal in your area, you might want to have one nearby in case you are in a survival situation. My Gear (Shop and Support):
I will use an ice auger to drill a channel right through the middle of the pond. Next, we put the gill net underwater. One end of the gill net has floats, the other sinkers, so the idea is to float the gill net in the water column and the fish will try to swim by and get caught in the net and twist all around getting more and more caught up.

As a guest at The End of the Trail, you don't have to drive to go for a walk or hike in a beautiful spot, it's right out your door. I love the view from the pool! I love that we can use the home year-round and enjoy different aspects. The property is so large, you can easily spend all day there with friends or parents and not feel like you're on top of each other. I love that there is a play area for our kids and dog. I am looking forward to spending many happy days of my life, lounging on the roof deck and reading in that casita! I have always dreamed of having a home with pool and hot tub! October-November and February-March are 'said' to be the best time to go to the desert, also it's lovely in mid-late September and April-May. June-July-August can be over 100 degrees every day with August being the hottest month, although we have air conditioning and fans and we have the top of the line full pool mister system installed to help with the heat. December and January can be cooler at night but significantly warmer than northern climes and pleasant during daytime (think shorts or light slacks with a fleece sweater), affording wonderful time for tennis, golf and hiking, not to mention shopping and tourist attractions such as Joshua Tree, the Date Plantation, going olive oil tasting, to the limoncello cafe, tasting scrumptious foods at area restaurants and toasting (poolsafe glasses) in the hot tub. Sometimes there is wind or even a little rainshower, but are very popular months in the desert for northerners to escape colder temperatures. All months are mostly sunny!
La Quinta is one of the premier golf meccas of the United States. Thousands of miles of walking, hiking, biking out the front door. Lots of games on-site: croquet, soccer, badminton, paddleball, kids' books, water toys: the pool is so fun. Sheephead Mountain - Peak #26 - A Cold Morning in Mount Laguna

After the holidays and a lengthy battle with the flu, I was ready to get back on the trail. It was a chilly pre-dawn morning, but alive with the promise of sun and beautiful blue skies. On the road to the trail head in Mount Laguna, the sun started to peek out behind the eastern mountains, bathing Sheephead Mountain in a beautiful orange glow. The smoky mountains to the south seemed to go on forever.
I was also excited to be completing a peak on the Sierra Clubs Hundred Peak Section.
I got to the trail head, and once again, I was the only other people within a few miles. Although the sun was shining a little on me, it the icy wind chilled me to the bones after leaving my heated car. I put on some layers and headed out on the trail.
I headed out on the trail, happy to be warming up with the exertion. The trail went downhill, out of sight of the sun, but I was warm enough by then and the trees and canyon shielded me from the wind. I have read that this trail skirts and plunges through private property, so I was on high alert, as I dont want to recommend anyone entering private property on the way to a peak.
I rounded a corner and saw Sheephead Mountain in front of me, with the boulders on top that look, to me, like an entire sheep, not just the head. I followed the path, getting used to the idea that any elevation gain would be in the last .4 miles. I came across a gate that said I could be arrested if I went into the property. All of the trail reports online instructed me to head on through. After pouring through some online maps after Ive returned, I think the true property line for the private lane is further along the road, and if you follow a very slight trail where there is a stacked rock, you will avoid private land altogether. I am going to research more on this for the book, so I dont get anyone arrested.
I, however, found the bottom of the wash as described in other trail reports and headed on up. And by up I mean up. I gained 624 feet of elevation in .4 miles. With the sandiness of the trail, my loss of conditioning due to the flu, and the manzanita tearing at the skin on my shins, it seemed like a lot longer than .4 miles. I turned around and could see the valley below where I came from.
The winds continued to increase, the further up I got, and I realized how close we were to Monument Peak, where I got blown all over the place. I made it to the top and was presented with a view of Cuyamaca Peak and Stonewall Peak and most of the southern section of Cuyamaca Rancho State Park. I briefly scrambled to the stop of the sheep boulder, but quickly descended, as I was being buffeted by high winds.
I found some shelter in the lee side of the stone before I made my way back down.

As a guest you will have access to the entire resort, which is remote and private. There is no local transportation that comes directly to the dome as it is very remote, but there is plenty of parking, so please plan accordingly.

Silver Strand, or simply The Strand, is a low, narrow, sandy isthmus or tombolo 7 miles (11 km) long in San Diego County, California partially within the Silver Strand State Beach.[1] It connects Coronado Island with Imperial Beach. Together with the Point Loma peninsula it shelters and defines San Diego Bay. State highway 75 runs the length of the strand and is a popular site for jogging and bicycling. The Silver Strand Half Marathon is run along the route each November.[2]
Silver Strand State Beach, which encompasses both the San Diego Bay and Pacific Ocean sides of the strand, is a little farther off the beaten path of the highly popular beaches in Ocean Beach and Mission Beach, offering more solitude for those who wish to avoid beach crowds. Dr. Karla Turner died of cancer on January 10, 1996, after being threatened for her work. She was just 48. Since then, several other people involved in UFO investigation have also experienced threats followed by highly unusual cancers. Several of her case studies are now dead.
Karla was widely respected in the UFO community for her research on alien abduction. A scholar and professional educator, she earned a Ph.D. in Old English studies and taught at the university level in Texas for more than ten years. But in 1988, she and her husband and son endured a shocking series of experiences and recollections that forced them to recognize that they were all abductees.
Karla's response was to drop her professional university career and turn her full attention to abduction research. Her first book, Into the Fringe (Berkley Books, 1992), told of her own experiences and those of her family.
Her second book, Taken - Inside the Alien-Human Abduction Agenda (Kelt Works, 1994), profiled the abduction stories of eight women whose experiences included both alien and human intrusions, and both benign and negative elements, illustrating the profoundly complex nature of the abduction mystery.
Her most recent book, Masquerade of Angels (Kelt Works, 1994), was co-written with psychic Ted Rice and recounts Ted's lifelong encounters with strange entities whose identity hovered in a shadowland between angelic and demonic. Karla was working on another book when she became ill in early 1995.
