They know your legal name, where you live — even if you're about to fall in love. Now, Facebook wants to know your credit score. Facebook has just received a patent that would allow lenders to use your social graph when examining a loan application. What does that mean in practice? If your friends have low credit scores, you could get denied for your loan. Of course, this hasn't come to pass yet. But with more and more lenders moving towards these updated algorithms, the likelihood of discrimination gets higher. Better Qualified CEO Paul Oster is featured on Arise Entertainment 360 explaining us how Facebook can affect our Credit Scores. Better Qualified, LLC is a company that uses a dynamic approach to ensure that their clients are maximizing the benefits that are associated with higher credit scores. Sweet and Spicy Libations: Wine in the Ancient Near East
Andrew Koh, Assistant Professor of Classical Studies, Brandeis University, and Joseph A. Greene, Deputy Director and Curator, Harvard Semitic Museum.
In 2013, a team of archaeologists working in northern Israel unearthed the storage magazines of a Canaanite palace from 1700 BCE containing remnants of what is considered to be the oldest--and largest--ancient wine cellar in the Near East. Chemical analysis of the jars found at the site suggests the Canaanites drank a strong, sweet wine flavored with an exotic mix of honey, spices, and berries. Join archaeologist Andrew Koh and Phoenician specialist Joseph Greene as they discuss this discovery in the context of the social and cultural history of wine's emergence in the ancient Near East and the Mediterranean world.

The National for Tuesday March 6, 2018 - RCMP Review, Trump's Tariffs, Housing Crisis
A clarification about the first story in this newscast: One of the details in this report suggests that after first arresting Gerald Stanley, the RCMP released him from custody before taking a formal statement. We have since obtained new information that shows, while his statement was not taken until the day following his arrest, he was not released from custody. We also reported that there was no indication Stanley's clothing was seized. However, new information shows us that his clothing was in fact seized. We contacted the RCMP prior to our reporting and they declined our repeated requests to confirm or deny that information.

How to Inventory the Environmental Waters of the World, One Atom at a Time
Speaker: Timothy G. Bromage, New York University College of Dentistry
Abstract: Given the importance of water to all life, it is astonishing that no systematic research has ever been undertaken on absolute element concentrations across the breadth of the chemical periodic table in any environmental water. Recently simultaneous-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (si-ICP-MS) has been developed to measure the full relevant inorganic mass spectrum, which includes 71 of 90 elements from lithium (3rd element) to uranium (92nd element) with as little as 1 mL per fluid sample, in seconds, and at relatively low cost. This universal capacity to “fingerprint” water far more cheaply and at higher sensitivities than conventional methods will enable any individual or state or federal agency to detect trends in their environment and to find solutions to predicaments before they become hardened into resilient complex systems.
About the Speaker: Timothy G. Bromage directs NYU's Isotope Facility, employing currently the one of only six si-ICP-MS instruments in the US. Using his Max Planck Prize in Life Science, he developed the method to allow si-ICP-MS to quantify the complete relevant inorganic spectrum.

Taiko Drumming in Asian American Los Angeles
Ethnomusicologist Deborah Wong offers a vivid introduction to the Japanese American and Asian American taiko scene in the greater Los Angeles area. Taiko is a contemporary form of ensemble drumming that is built on the foundation of traditional Japanese festival music. This new tradition is called kumi-daiko, or group taiko, because taiko ensembles usually feature numerous drums of at least three different sizes played in a fast, loud, virtuosic, athletic style. Taiko is very old, but in most of the ways that matter, it is a modern, transnational, globalized, dynamic heritage tradition that changes by the day.

From Oxus to Euphrates: Sasanian Empire Symposium
Several experts participated in an all-day symposium on the legacy of the ancient Persian Sasanian empire (224-651 A.D.). The Sasanians ruled a large empire in Central and Western Asia, stretching from the Oxus River to the Euphrates and from the Hindukush to Eastern Arabia, for over 400 years (224-651 B.C.). Known as Iranshahr (the Domain of Iran), it was a powerful empire that engendered much of what came to be known as the Iranian culture in the medieval and modern periods.
