Camp Verde, Arizona
Camp Verde (Western Apache: Gambúdih) is a town in Yavapai County, Arizona, United States. According to 2006 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the town is 10,610.
The town is located along the I-17 freeway, and as a result most of the local economy involves service stations, restaurants, hotels, and the like. Nearby tourist attractions include Montezuma Castle National Monument and Fort Verde State Historic Park. It is also the site of Cliff Castle Casino, operated by the Yavapai-Apache Nation Indian tribe, making it an important gambling destination for north and central Arizona. The town also host a famous corn festival each year. It is put on by Hauser and Hauser Farms, which operates in Camp Verde.

5th Annual Labriola Center American Indian National Book Award Dr. Daniel Herman
Dr. Daniel Herman, professor of history at Central Washington University, is the winner of the 5th annual Labriola Center National Book Award for his 2012 book Rim Country Exodus: A Story of Conquest, Renewal, and Race in the Making published by the University of Arizona Press. Dr.Katherine Osburn from the School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies interviewed Dr. Herman about his award winning book and writing process in the Labriola Center on April 1, 2013.
About the Labriola Center American Indian National Book Awards: Arizona State University is committed to American Indian scholarship and offers several academic programs led by noted American Indian faculty including a Bachelors of Science degree in American Indian Studies, an Indigenous Teacher Preparation Program, an American Indian nursing program, and the Indian Legal Program.
