Hi Federico. Your guide on travelling solo is awesome!! I can't stop reading it. Thanks x!-Agness, reader.
In this episode I join a circle island tour of Oahu, giving me the opportunity to see some of the best of the island in just one day. While the island is not very big there are indeed many things to see and do in Oahu, and an Oahu day tour makes this process much easier. Sure, you might not spend as much time as you'd like in each of the spots you visit, but if you do have a few days (which you probably do) you can always come back!
There is one thing that I really enjoyed about this day tour versus others I have been in and that is that besides learning what there is to do in Hawaii's main island the driver is enthusiastic, fun and knowledgeable. Many of the things he will explain are difficult to learn if you're on your own, so paying attention does make the trip more fun.
My favourite spots of all those visited were Hanauma Bay and the Byodo temple. Just a couple of days before I had snorkelled in Hanauma Bay (check my other video about my experience here and visit my blog for more information on these and other places visited in thw tour) and it's something you must not miss as the bay is so close to Waikiki beach.
The places to visit in Oahu that this tour covers are a good selection, considering how much is being covered, but I highly recommend you do go again on your own. For example, the tour does not stop in Turtle Bay, probably the easiest place in Oahu where to conveniently spot and swim with turtles without having to pay for a tour (check my other video of this place There is a nice hotel and a few surf breaks nearby if you want to ride some waves while here.
I was less impressed with the Dole pineapple plantation; this is obviously a marketing stop to get tourists to spend some money. Sure, you will learn a few things about pineapples but like me you probably did not come to Hawaii for this. On the other hand, by the time you get here you will have already endured about 10 hours or more of the Oahu day tour, hence it's an opportunity to stretch your legs.
Finally, make sure you also read this post from my budget travel blog with 5 tips that I guarantee will save you money when there, from where to find the cheapest surfboards for rent to the cheapest car rental agency in the island

Support The Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles. =) When in Hawaii the turtles gave us lots of smiles and memories.. so I thought I'd share a lil vid. It's all iPhone footage so sorry bout the quality..

Hawaii - Snorkeling with Turtles, Pearl Harbor, Turtle Bay Resort, Kauai Helicopter Ride
Our trip to Hawaii starting in Oahu with Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona (0:16), and a two days at Turtle Bay Resort (0:52).
Then we traveled to the north coast of Kauai (2:13) including Tunnels beach, Ke'e Beach, and snorkeling with turtles at Anini Beach (3:36). We also snorkeled at Poipu Beach (4:09) and finished our trip with an awesome helicopter tour (5:00) which landed at the Jurassic Park Falls and also did several amazing flybys over the Na Pali Coast. I would recommend them for the Jurrasic Falls Tour!

TOP TRAVEL TIPS:
*We got the top floor room at Turtle Bay because we got there very early (around noon) and we were only staying one night. They wanted to accommodate, so they gave us the only room that was ready, which happened to be one of the largest and on the top floor.
*The locals told us turtles are guaranteed when snorkeling at Anini Beach on Kauai, where we saw several Turtles.
*The most beautiful beach in Kauai (or possibly in all of Hawaii) was Ke'e Beach as it's right by the Na Pali Coast. It's only swimmable in summer though because of the dangerous winter currents.
*Island Helicopter Tours are the only ones who land anywhere, so it's worth the additional $70-$90 to land and for the longer experience (90 minutes long). The landing was amazing, and a helicopter tour without it would not have felt complete.
*Make sure to wear black for the helicopter tour, as the reflection will be reduced.

Turtle Beach in Hawaii - Laniakea Beach, North Shore, Haleiwa, Oahu
Aloha!
Today we take you to the North Shore to visit Laniakea Beach, otherwise known as turtle beach. The reason for this video is to, as much as possible provide education about our island's Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle.
Many tourists visit our islands and don't know that touching or harassing a turtle in Hawaii is illegal. As Honu Guardians for Malama Na Honu we hope you enjoy this video.

I selected classical music to listen to on the way. Forgive me to all the supporters who like natural sounds, it doesn't sound good with sped up wind sounds for 35 minutes. It's a 75 minute drive from Waikiki or 55 minutes from the Airport. If you don't like the music please turn the sound down and listen to whatever your heart desires. There's a all natural walk in the next video so watch for that! Enjoy!

Hanauma Bay Tips | Oahu, Hawaii
Come explore one of the best places to snorkel on Oahu. We'll show you how to get there, how to find turtles, and answer all your questions along the way.
First things first, Hanauma Bay is CLOSED ON TUESDAYS. Always. No exceptions. Plan accordingly.
Also, make sure your sunscreen is reef safe.
Hanauma Bay is on the far southeast corner of Oahu. It's some of the best snorkeling and one of the best beaches in all of Hawaii, not just on Oahu. It was voted Best Beach in the US in 2016. And we can vouch for the snorkeling - it's incredible! So many fish and such a large area to explore so it doesn't seem overcrowded. There are also plenty of areas that are shallow enough to stand if you're not a strong swimmer (only stand on the sandy areas, never stand on rocks or coral). But there are lots of deeper areas to explore as well. Such a great variety of fish, coral, and depths.
GETTING THERE
Shuttle:
You can book a shuttle straight from Waikiki hotels. Check out their site for that info.
Taxi:
It's like $40-$50 from Waikiki. Hard pass.
Drive yourself:
If you have a rental car, it's $1 to park. There are only 300 spots and it will be full by 8am for sure. If you can't go early, go after lunch when people start to leave.
Take the bus:
Buses are $2.75 per ride or $5.50 for an all-day pass. Tell the bus driver what you want (one way or all day) before you pay.
The only bus that goes to Hanauma Bay is Route 22. We suggest getting on as early in the route as possible. It starts in Waikiki near the intersection of Ala Moana and Kalakaua. The bus was completely full before we got to the zoo and we started skipping bus stops that were full of people wanting to get on. The bus will take about 35-45 minutes from Waikiki. See all the bus details here:
If you're not in Waikiki, you can take the Route 2 bus from Honolulu to Waikiki. Get off at Kalakaua and walk over a block to the first bus stop. You should see a few other people who are obviously going to the beach.
Snorkel with turtles:
We showed this in the video, but in case you didn't catch it, if you want to see a turtle while snorkeling in Hanauma Bay, look for groups of people hovering in the same spot. 9 times out of 10, they're all staring at a turtle. Feel free to swim near the turtles, but do not touch them.
