जियारत निजामुद्दीन औलिया दरगाह Why The world comes to Nizamuddin Tomb?
Nizamuddin Dargah is the Mausoleum of one of the world's most famous Sufi saints, Nizamuddin Auliya.Situated in the Nizamuddin West area of Delhi.
The tombs of poet Amir Khusro Favorite deciple of Auliya is also located within the Nizamuddin Dargah complex.
Muhammad Nizamuddin Auliya (Urdu: محمد نظام الدّین اولیاء; sometimes spelled Awliya; 1238 – 3 April 1325), also known as Hazrat Nizamuddin, was a Sufi saint of the Chishti Order and arguably one of the most famous Sufis on the Indian Subcontinent.[1] His predecessors were Fariduddin Ganjshakar, Qutbuddin Bakhtiyar Kaki and Moinuddin Chishti. In that sequence, they constitute the initial spiritual chain or silsila of the Chishti order, widely prevalent in the Indian subcontinent.
Nizamuddin Auliya, like his predecessors, stressed love as a means of realising God. For him his love of God implied a love of humanity. His vision of the world was marked by a highly evolved sense of religious pluralism and kindness.[2] It is claimed by the 14th century historiographer Ziauddin Barani that his influence on the Muslims of Delhi was such that a paradigm shift was effected in their outlook towards worldly matters. People began to be inclined towards mysticism and prayers and remaining aloof from the world.

Conserving Hazrat Nizamuddin Baoli - 13th century stepped well in Hazrat Nizamuddin Basti
Built in the early 14th century, the water from this step-well is considered holy by millions of pilgrims who visit here annually.
Following its partial collapse in 2008, the Baoli was repaired in a challenging and risky operation. The repairs to the step-well commenced after extensive technical review, discussions with the Dargah committee and on removing seven centuries of deposits requiring 8000 man-days to remove.
The Baoli conservation is an example of a complex urban conservation project with multiple requirements that could only be addressed by a multi- disciplinary team and partnership of several government agencies.
The challenge of keeping this holy water clean remains with plastic and other non-biodegradable waste finding its way into the baoli causing severe pollution.
Since 2010, conservation works are being undertaken on four monuments, standing of the Baoli and at least two, both in private ownership, being contemporary to the Baoli.

Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin dargah celebrates ‘Sufi Basant’
Hazrat Nizamuddin dargah in Delhi becomes vibrant with colour yellow to celebrate the spring festival ‘Basant Panchami’ every year. This festival is popularly known as ‘Sufi Basant’, here at the dargah, which dates back to the 12th century when Amir Khusro dedicated his poetry and sufi songs to his spiritual master Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya. As the tale goes, Hazrat Nizamuddin’s favourite nephew died and he was very upset over the loss. Basant is celebrated at Nizamuddin’s dargah every year to “mark the day Khusro got the master’s smile back from the depths of grief and depression”. The tradition has continued for over 700 years now. On Saturday too, the dargah donned a yellow look for Basant Panchami and devotees came in their thousands wearing yellow and carrying mustard flowers to greet the patron saint of Delhi, who, in his lifetime, found happiness in a Hindu spring festival. During this time, special performances are organised and qawwals sing songs related to spring season with fervour and zeal.

#SufiBasant #BasantPanchami
‘Sufi Basant’ has been celebrated in five of Delhi’s major Dargahs since the 18th century, in ode to Basant Panchami -- the festival of spring that is celebrated on the fifth day of Magha month of Hindu calendar. At this year’s celebrations at Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya’s Dargah in New Delhi on 29th January, devotees offered a yellow sacred ‘chaadar’ at the shrine as Qawwals gathered around to sing qawwalis.
