AMAZING! Old 1984 Mitsubishi Traction Scenic Elevator@MS Bldg. 2, Kamata, Ota, Tokyo, Japan
Filmed in January 2016. This is yet another amazing mid-1980s Mitsubishi scenic elevator in Kamata, Ota Ward, Tokyo - what a beautiful scenic elevator design! It's still original, and it's in quite a good shape and it still feels quite modern! For some reason, floors 5-8 are locked-off. The building was completed in November 1984! This elevator is considerably older than I thought - I thought it was from the late 1980s or early 1990s, but it dates back to 1984!
Location: MS Building 2 (MSビル2, 〒144-0051 Tōkyō-to, Ōta-ku, Nishikamata, 7 Chome−7−4), Nishikamata, Ota Ward, Tokyo Metropolis, Japan
Brand: Mitsubishi
Type: Traction, Scenic
Year installed: 1984 (Completed in November 1984)
Floors served: 8 (1, 2, 3, 4, (5), (6), (7), (8))
Serial: Unknown
Capacity: 9 persons or 600 kg
Note: This elevator makes some werd sounds when starting - like there would be water on top of the cab or something. Anyway, it's really amazing - what a beautiful scenic elevator design!

Ikegami Honmonji temple Mitama festa Night of Bon Dancing
On August 4th in Ikegami Honmonji temple,
Mitama Matsuri festa was held and started at twilight.
I visited this temple to shoot the scenes of twilight and
Mitama Matsuri festa.
In Mitama Matsuri festa, people gather around the tower and join in Bon dancing.
Bon dancing is a type of dance in which people dance along the rhythm of a drum
in a round queue around the tower which a man plays a drum on the top.
It is a typical event during the season called Bon.
Bon is not a bonfire,we refer to a particular time in August as Bon盆.
In Japanese Buddhism,Bon is a season when we believe that our ancestors
come to the world we live again in the form of the souls and we do something
enjoyable in order to welcome them.
Bon dancing is one of those customs to spend nights of the season
to welcome ancestors souls.
It’s the first time for me to shoot Bon dancing festa.
I don’t say I could do my best then but it is so fun and
meaningful experience for me.
I could have the best time.

Oeshiki Festival of Light, Ikegami Tokyo
Oeshiki festival of light, Ikegami Tokyo
Oeskiki is an annual buddhist festival held on the 13th of October that commemorates the death of Nichiren in 1282. He was a revered buddhist teacher who lived during the Kamakura period until about 700 years ago. Although celebrated throughout Japan, the main Oeshiki festival is held at Ikegami Honmonji Temple located in the Ota ward in suburban Tokyo - the place where Nichiren died.
The festival lasts all week and reaches its peak on the night of 12th October with a long illuminated parade of Mando along a two-kilometer route from Ikegami Station to the celebrated temple. Mando, which literally means “10,000 lanterns”, is a rite where some 3,000 worshippers carrying sacred lanterns decorated with beautiful cherry blossoms.
Another highlight of the ceremony is Matoi. Matoi is referring to the Edo period’s firemen. In the ceremony, Matoi will play flutes and drums to accompany the Mando.
The mando are something like a parade float, which are about 5 meters (16.4’) in height. In its structure built in the form of a five-story pagoda with the Odaimoku (Namu Myoho Renge Kyo) or pictures of Nichiren Shōnin’s life depicted on the sides.
The whole structure is lit from the inside and rows of artificial cherry blossoms are hung from the top on an umbrella to from a cherry tree, because it is said that when Nichiren Shōnin passed away the cherry trees came into bloom out of season.
Nichiren Shōnin’s studies of the various Buddhist teachings convinced him that the true and only doctrine, the quintessence of Buddhism, was the Lotus Sutra (Hokke Sutra, the Sutra of the Lotus Flower of the Wonderful Dharma, or Saddharma Pundarika Sutra).
He resolved that henceforth all Buddhist scripture should be judged in its light. His devotion was so deep that he changed his name to Nichiren. Nichiren means “Sun Lotus.”
He described his name as follows:
“There is nothing so clear and serene as the sun and the moon, and nothing purer than the lotus flower. The Lotus of the Perfect Truth is like the sun and the moon and the lotus flower.”
