Doing Indy: Episode 61 - Indy's Historic Memorials
Indianapolis is second only to Washington D.C. with regards to the monuments and memorials erected to honor those who have served our country. On this Fourth of July it is not only important to respect and appreciate our freedom but to remember those who have served to keep us free. Seth Hancock and Zach Rutledge made a short film to show you these memorials, their importance and beauty and that we never forget those who have served.

New Orleans Pharmacy Museum
Remember when you could buy Absinthe, Cocaine, Arsenic, Morphine, and Belladonna legally? How about medical instruments like eye scalpels, a trephination drill, and rectal dilators. Neither do I.
One more New Orleans slideshow - this time of the phenomenal, if tiny, New Orleans Pharmacy Museum. I highly recommend anyone that visits the French Quarter spend an hour or two here - photographs are allowed and the self-guided tour is best as the guided one is quite claustrophobic.

Research and Creating Content for Historic Indianapolis.com
This is a brief introduction to researching primary source documentation, which is what we do at Historic Indianapolis.com for the content we create. We go to the State Library, Indiana Historical Society in this video and use clipping files, microfilm, collections (Indiana Historical Society has an amazing collection!) and other sources to find information. On this day, the search was on regarding the monument on the Circle. The almost inaudible thing Tiffany utters is Shaft of Stone, the title of the debut day article about the new Monument on the Circle in the heart of Indianapolis.

Long-lost picture turns up in Indianapolis library digital collection
Jim McGovern and his family have a lot of old pictures, but one was always missing - pictures of Jim and Terry's dad, Edward McGovern, who was an Indianapolis firefighter from the mid-30's through 1956. After Edward's wife died, their eight kids were raised by relatives or, like Jim, sent to an orphanage. None of them had a single picture of him. Then Jim's daughter Cathleen heard about a new digital collection the museum was working on with the Indianapolis library.
