Ijen Miner Family Homestay + Air Terjun Jagir | irene ijoli
Ijen Miners Family Homestay

So please do consider about that ????

berburu Blue Fire KAWAH IJEN Banyuwangi Jawa Timur #Bluefire #kawahijen #travelvlog
The Ijen volcano complex is a group of stratovolcanoes in the Banyuwangi Regency of East Java, Indonesia. It is inside a larger caldera Ijen, which is about 20 kilometers wide. The Gunung Merapi stratovolcano is the highest point of that complex. The name Gunung Merapi means mountain of fire in the Indonesian language (api being fire); Mount Merapi in central Java and Marapi in Sumatra have the same etymology.
Many other post-caldera cones and craters are located within the caldera or along its rim. The largest concentration of post-caldera cones run east-west across the southern side of the caldera. The active crater at Kawah Ijen has a diameter of 722 metres (2,369 ft) and a surface area of 0.41 square kilometres (0.16 sq mi). It is 200 metres (660 ft) deep and has a volume of 36 cubic hectometres (29,000 acre·ft).
The lake is recognised as the largest highly acidic crater lake in the world. It is also a source for the river Banyupahit, resulting in highly acidic and metal-enriched river water which has a significant detrimental effect on the downstream river ecosystem. In 2008, explorer George Kourounis took a small rubber boat out onto the acid lake to measure its acidity. The pH of the water in the crater was measured to be 0.5 due to sulfuric acid.

[TRAVEL VLOG (EP.01) ] KAWAH IJEN: Hiking a volcano in Indonesia
My recent trip to Indonesia, where we hiked a active volcano!!! This place is still quite remote and undiscovered. I was pretty surprised to see LOADS of people there though. Both locals and foreigners.
Place is quite hard to get to, you definitely need a local driver/tour guide. Many go from Bali to Banyuwangi, its a lot closer than from Surabaya or Jakarta.
DEFINITELY recommend this hike, although if you are deathly scared of heights and get out of breath easily this might be a little challenging.
Feel free to comment with questions and I'll try to respond!

The Gunung Merapi stratovolcano is the highest point of that complex. The name Gunung Merapi means mountain of fire in the Indonesian language (api being fire);
West of Gunung Merapi is the Ijen volcano, which has a one-kilometer-wide turquoise-colored acidic crater lake. The lake is the site of a labor-intensive sulfur mining operation, in which sulfur-laden baskets are carried by hand from the crater floor.

Blue Fire Crater
Since National Geographic mentioned the electric-blue flame of Ijen, tourist numbers increased.[citation needed] The phenomenon has occurred for a long time, but beforehand there was no midnight hiking. A two-hour hike is required to reach the rim of the crater, followed by a 45-minute hike down to the bank of the crater. The blue fire is ignited sulphuric gas, which emerges from cracks at temperatures up to 600 degrees Celsius (1,112 degrees Fahrenheit).
The flames can be up to 5 meters (16 feet) high; some of the gas condenses to liquid and is still ignited. It is the largest blue flame area in the world and local people refer to it as 'Blue Fire'
Sulfur mining at Ijen
An active vent at the edge of the lake is a source of elemental sulfur, and supports a mining operation. Escaping volcanic gases are channelled through a network of ceramic pipes, resulting in condensation of molten sulfur. The sulfur, which is deep red in color when molten, pours slowly from the ends of these pipes and pools on the ground, turning bright yellow as it cools. The miners break the cooled material into large pieces and carry it away in baskets. Miners carry loads ranging from 75 kilograms (165 lb) to 90 kilograms (200 lb), up 300 metres (980 ft) to the crater rim, with a gradient of 45 to 60 degrees and then 3 kilometers (1.86 miles) down the mountain for weighing. Most miners make this journey twice a day. A nearby sugar refinery pays the miners by the weight of sulfur transported; as of September 2010, the typical daily earnings were equivalent to approximately $13 US. The miners often receive insufficient protection while working around the volcano and complain of numerous respiratory afflictions. There are 200 miners, who extract 14 tons per day - about 20 percent of the continuous daily deposit.

IJEN, THE BLUE FIRE VOLCANO. EAST JAVA, INDONESIA ????????
The crater of the volcano Gunung Ijen is home to the largest sulphur lake in the world. The phenomenon taking place within this crater is referred to as the 'blue fire' by local Indonesians, which is largely the site of an intensive sulphur mining operation, and only in more recent times, a niche tourist attraction in East Java.

Ijen Crater - Kawah Ijen - East Java - Indonesia
Ijen Crater is the biggest crater lake in Java. The sulfur crater lake lies between a natural dams of deeply etched rock. It is 200 meters deep and contains about 36million cubic meters of steaming acid water, shrouded in a smelling swirling sulfur cloud. Inside the crater the different color and size of stones are found. Indeed the crater of Ijen is beautiful garden of stone as well.
The view of sulfur miners who climb and go down to the crater is also amazing. A man puts about 10 kg of yellowish stone in to his basket, before he descends the mountain slope to sell his load, carrying the same basket, going in the same direction, digging the same mineral. It is the natural picture that can be seen everyday.

Juru kamera: Bruriy Susanto
Tracking Kawah Ijen Blue Fire Banyuwangi / Travel Video
Indonesia's Kawah Ijen volcano, located near the eastern tip of Java island, is a relatively ordinary volcano by day. OK so it's kind of terrifying, as most volcanoes are, but there's nothing about it that outwardly separates it from any of the other hundreds of volcanoes in this island country.
The Dark Side of the Blue Light
As you continue marveling at the azure beauty unfolding in front of you, you might notice dozens or even hundreds of men around you, moving feverishly—and without gas masks. These are sulfur miners, residents of small villages around the base of the volcano, employed by the Chinese company that owns the mine.
Think your trek was difficult? The miners carry approximately 88 pounds of powdery, toxic sulfur at a time, in two baskets connected by a beam of bamboo and suspended over their shoulders, over the same distance—and probably faster than you walked it. They also earn less than $7 (yes, that's U.S. dollars) for their effort, in spite of the fact that sulfur has an extremely high commercial value.
The miners won't mind you being there (although, again, you should probably take a guide) but it's customary to tip them 10,000-20,000 Indonesian rupiah so they can buy cigarettes—smoking is their favorite creature comfort, which is perhaps ironic given the damage the sulfur fumes almost certainly inflict upon their lungs. Hopefully, in the future, local people won't need to do this backbreaking work, and the only reason to go down into Indonesia's blue-fire volcano will be tourism.
Kawah Ijen Guided Tours
When it comes to guides, several Indonesian companies offer tours, but the best way to go about seeing the blue fire of Kawah Ijen volcano is to hire a local guide. One highly-recommend guide is Sam from Ijen Expedition, a young man who resides in the Taman Sari township at the base of the volcano.
Sam is not only passionate, professional and fluent in English, but invests proceeds from his tours into education in his village, which will decrease the dependency of locals on mining jobs, ultimately increasing the quality of their lives. One day, he hopes, there will be no sadness felt at Kawah Ijen volcano—only amazement!
To learn why, you'll need to head to the base of the volcano just after midnight, and hike up and into the volcano's crater. It's no easy task—you'll trek more than four miles and ascend to heights of nearly 10,000 feet, with only the light of the moon to guide you—and that's if it's out.
Inside Kawah Ijen Volcano
You'll also need a gas mask: When you begin your descent into the crater, toxic sulfur fumes blow over you, marring not only your ability to breathe but also your visibility. (It's for this reason that you should also probably bring a local guide with you—but more on that in a minute).
Around the time the clock strikes three or four, you'll have arrived at the bottom of the crater, and laid your eyes upon one of the most alien sights on our planet: Blue fire spewing out of the ground! The vibrant blue hue of these flames, which results from heavy sulfur deposits in the volcano, is best seen during the darkest part of the night, hence your needing to wake up long before the crack of dawn.

KAWAH IJEN | Hardest job on earth ( Sulfur crater lake) - Hiking a volcano in Indonesia
location : Kawah Ijen, Curah Macan, Kalianyar, Sempol, Bondowoso Regency, East Java
Blue Fire Ijen
Mount Ijen is an active volcano situated in Banyuwangi, Java island in Indonesia . Its famous for its unique blue fire and acidic lake .
Its a big source for sulpher as well.
To visit this one must reach Banyuwangi city widly connected by Flights from surabhaya and jakarta . Train and road connectivity as well.
With help of yr hotel u can book this trip. cause basecamp is around 1 hr distance from city and best time is to start hiking around 1 am so by 3 am u can reach to the point to see blue fire as its visible in night only with the sunrise it will fade out. after that u can hike up to crater rim and enjoy panorama and start decending to basecamp. total 8 to 10 hrs are required for this trip .
Moderate physical fitness is required cause its 8 km trip and its not so easy . But no special skills required , just take rest every 4 5 minutes and then start again yr hiking.
My tour operator was Mirja- +6285330775567
but if u can reach to basecamp on your own no need of tour guide as well as there is only one way so u have to just follow the trail.
Mount Ijen (Gunung Ijen), Java, Indonesia
In October 2013 we visited the Mount Ijen volcano. This was very impressive. The lake is the site of a labor-intensive sulfur mining operation, in which sulfur-laden baskets are carried by hand from the crater floor. The work is low-paid and very onerous. Workers earn around $5.50-$8.30 (Rp 50,000 - Rp 75,000) per day and once out of the crater, still need to carry their loads of sulfur chunks about three kilometers to the nearby Pultuding Valley to get paid. In this video you see the scenery, the lake and the crater. Also you can hear the local workers, who are very impressed with the zoom performance of my Sony HX100V digital camera.
