How an Average Family in Tokyo Can Buy a New Home
Coming to Japan from Canada (and the crazy housing market that is Vancouver), I was surprised to find out that the average family could afford a brand new house, even in the city of Tokyo. In this video I explore how this is possible.
CORRECTION: The stats I gave for median annual household incomes in the United States and Canada are not quite right. I explain why in this video

Food Halls in Tokyo: Takashimaya in Shinjuku, Tokyo
One of the things I always love to do in Tokyo is to pay a visit to one of the food halls in the basement of the department stores in Tokyo. This is a visit to the Food Hall in the basement of Takashimaya in Shinjuku Times Square. If you love food, design, and an insight into Japanese culture, this is one of the Top 10 Things you have to do in Tokyo!
What you NEED to KNOW when you First Arrive in Japan
This Japan guide reviews what to do in Tokyo when you first arrive at Narita Airport or Haneda Haneda Airport. First time travelers are confused what to do in Tokyo, where to go, how to get from Narita Airport to Tokyo, how to get from Haneda Airport to Tokyo as well as what to eat in Japan. I cover all these questions and much more. These are Japan Travel Guide tips I wish someone told me when I first arrived in Japan or even wish I knew before I came to Japan. This video is perfect for first time travelers who don't know the difference between Narita Airport or Haneda Airport. Also, I share with you how to Get a SIM a card and what useful apps you can download before arriving at the Tokyo Airport in Japan. I even provide some tips on Showers and Tokyo Capsule Hotels at both Tokyo airports.
----- Must Know things when First Arriving in Tokyo Japan -----
0:51 - #1 Difference Between Narita & Haneda Airport
Travelers flying into Tokyo for the first time, have an option to fly into Narita or Haneda Airport.
Narita is the larger of the 2 airports and is generally known to have more international flights while Haneda has more domestic flights. Both have lots of dining and shopping areas, but since Haneda is newly ren, I have to give Haneda the overall edge when it comes to attractions.
The biggest differentiator between both airports is the distance to Tokyo. Narita is about 1 hr away by express train, while Haneda is about 15-30 min train ride away. So it’s a little cheaper transportation-wise from Haneda.

JAPANTRIP「Azabu-Juban」Minato-ku, Tokyo【東京都港区麻布十番】 2015.3.23
Azabu-Juban at first glance retains the lively and artistic shitamachi (downtown) feel of Edo-period Tokyo. Yet dotted with modern skyscrapers and bustling with foreigners, it is quite an international area, too.
The greatest supporter of this energetic town, the Azabu-Juban Shopping District, has hosted the Azabu-Juban Noryo-matsuri Festival (noryo is literally “cool of the evening”) on Patio-dori Street and Zoshiki-dori Street for more than 40 years.

World’s largest Naruto and Boruto Theme Park in Japan
Japan Naruto Theme Park and Boruto Theme Park located in Nijigen no Mori Awajishima. This is first look at currently the World's largest Naruto amusement park and Boruto amusement park located in Shinobi Zato also known as ninja village area of the National Park of Awajishima. The ninja village hosts 2 main mission areas guided by maki-mono (scrolls) chi-no-maki (earth scroll) and ten-no-maki (heaven scroll). This anime theme park will take you on a puzzle solving adventures. This is perfect play ground for all Naruto manga and anime lovers alike.
Also, this anime theme park has recreated an outdoor version of Naruto's favorite ramen shop, Ichiraku ramen shop where you can get Hakata style ramen. Ramen ichiraku's Naruto Ramen was quite delicious and would love to have another bowl at anytime. The shop also serves Naruto themed food.
Nijigen no mori where the Naruto theme park is located, is originally a giant national park so it’s actually a perfect spot to just hang out, relax and have a picnic.
In fact, Naruto theme park video is the first part of a 2 part series for the Awajishima area so if you are deciding to visit this area, then definitely stick around for the 2nd part of this video series.

A Beginner's Guide to Azabu-Juban
Azabu-Juban is a low-key neighbourhood in Tokyo, but with lots to offer. It's got trendy shops and cafes, and a bit of European flair with its cobbled roads and Western-style architecture. It's also home to import shops and international business (and many foreigners as well).

Japan's Most Terrifying Bridge: Eshima Ohashi ★ ONLY in JAPAN #33
It's been nicknamed the ROLLER COASTER BRIDGE because of it's super steep slope and appearance of being a bridge to the sky.
That's the Eshima Ohashi Bridge straddling Shimane and Tottori prefecture in Japan.
Facts about the Eshima Ohashi:
★ 1,446 meters long
★ 250 meters of continupus concrete in the center (the third longest Ramen bridge in the world!)
★ 6.1% grade slope on the Shimane Prefecture side
★ 5.1% grade on the Tottori side
★ The bridge needed to be high in the center to allow large shops to pass under.
☆ From the Shimane side, you can get the optical illusion view at the end of the street by the sea.
☆ If you have a good telephoto lens, go even further to the other side of the sea for a better shot. (Map below)
The bridge has a good pedestrian footpath on both sides of the road.
Bicycles are not allowed on the footpath so stay on the main road with the car, to the left side.
There is an observation point on the top that offers sweeping views all the way to Daisen (mountain).
The closest major access point is Yonago Station and airport on the Sea of Japan. From there, take a train to Sakaiminato and rent a bicycle or grab a taxi.
Sakaiminato is also famous for Japanese anime and the main street is like a museum of monsters!
The bridge is a 20 minute ride from Sakai Minato.
Take food with you from the station.

ON SALE: Luxury Designer's 2-Story Condo Unit in Nozawa, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo
Fully upgraded 2-story, uniquely designed 3 bedroom with two loft spaces
Fully automated bath and toilet
System Kitchen with automated dishwasher and oven
Move-in Ready SPECIAL:
***Comes with all major appliances & furniture (Well worth over 1,000,000 yen),
including automatic all-in-one washer/dryer and flat-screen TV
***It is typical for Japanese units to not come with any appliances, including washer/dryer, etc.
This unit feels really spacious, with high ceilings (rare in Japan), state-of-the-art appliances, and most importantly, really sturdy construction. During the 3/11 earthquake, NOT A SINGLE OBJECT moved in the house. If you want a secure home, this is definitely one to consider.
You can utilize the unit as your home during your stay in Tokyo, whether it's long-term or short-term. When you are not here, you can use it as a rental unit, offering other visitors or locals the experience of this convenient, stylish way of living. The two-story construction makes use of space limitless and as creative as it best fits you!
Examples are in-home office, unit sharing (families, friends, homestay guests, etc.), and many more.
Ideal for kids with loft space, stairs can be easily child-proofed when children are younger.
The lists below explain the location, quality, and value of this real-deal condo unit on sale.
Here are the factors to consider when in Tokyo:
-Accessibility: Tokyo is a huge city, like none other. Divided up into areas with strong character and niche, have access to all parts without being constricted to one.
You can get to all major areas of the whole city within 20-30 minutes from this location, making it ideal for all your needs.
-Lifestyle Choice: Expanding from the explanation above about the different areas Tokyo has to offer, the lifestyle available at this location is very neutral.
-Compared to the more well-known ex-pat friendly areas of Minato-ku, this area of Setagaya-ku has the perfect balance between being international enough with import grocery stores and the traditional Japanese groceries and stores.
Comparison Chart:
Minato-ku: The Foreigner's Town of Tokyo
Minato-ku has its door open for foreigners living in Tokyo to continue their lifestyle as close to their home.
The other big reason foreigners in Japan choose to live in Minato-ku is the readiness of the rental units.
You really pay luxury prices to live luxuriously in Minato-ku, with less access to authentic Japanese culture.
Be a smart consumer, and at the same time, expand your horizon.
Here, you can indulge in the luxury Minato-ku has to offer, without being stuck in it to pay the unnecessarily high prices everyday, while being able to experience what true local living is like in Tokyo.
Summary:
You can live in an originally million-dollar condo (built December 2006) for an affordable price. It is really rare to find a uniquely designed space like this, in the more traditionally Japanese yet multicultural and sophisticated neighborhood of Gakugei Daigaku. The modern and chic two-story designer condominium is a one of a kind, with perfected quality of excellence. Friendly and distinctive security services, including a concierge, secured entries and surveillance. Superior comfort of living with a fully automated bath and bathroom, full upgraded and systematic kitchen, creative living style with 2 lofts and recreational area.
Great unit for investment opportunities and making your life in Tokyo a dream come true!
Owned by three English-speaking sisters - so please feel free to ask us any questions, and email us to set up an appointment for viewing.
Thank you for your interest, and we look forward to hearing from you!
