HUGE TURKISH FOOD TOUR IN ISTANBUL | Foodie Heaven!
Vlog #527 Istanbul, Turkey // THANK YOU Latif & Istanbul on Food! We had the most DELICIOUS day eating all kinds of traditional Turkish foods that we had never even heard of before! We LOVE learning about a country and it’s culture/history through it’s food, and this tour is one of the absolute best food tours we’ve ever done! We started out at the local market where we picked up cheese, olives, and bread, then had a massive Turkish feast for breakfast with tea and a few other traditional morning dishes. Next we had breakfast part 2 which was a hearty lamb stew. Other highlights include street mussels, “turkish tacos,” a trip to the sweets shop, RAW meatballs, and making our own Turkish pizza!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before Nate turns 30 (which is March 20, 2019)! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)
Turkish Food Tour in Istanbul - BEST Kebabs of My Life, AMAZING Seafood, and Turkish Ice Cream!
►Check out my Istanbul Travel Food Guide:

►Camera gear I use:
The first thing we did in the morning in Istanbul was drive over to Beşiktaş to eat an amazing Turkish food breakfast at a restaurant called Çakmak Kahvaltı Salonu. From there we took the ferry across the Bosphorus to Kadiköy, where we had an incredible Turkish seafood meal for lunch. Finally, we enjoyed some Turkish ice cream, and the show, and had the most incredible kebab I’ve ever had in my life at Zübeyir Ocakbaşı Restaurant. It was an amazing day of Turkish food in Istanbul!
1:27 Turkish breakfast at Çakmak Kahvaltı Salonu - For breakfast we headed to Beşiktaş, one of my favorite areas of Istanbul, and went to a restaurant known for serving breakfast. The breakfast was amazing, and I ate a dish of eggs with beef and butter. The side dishes were also fantastic. Total price - 29 TL ($9.73)
7:40 Boat to Kadiköy and Kadiköy Market - During our trip so far to Istanbul, we hadn’t had a chance to go to the Asian side of Istanbul. So today, we took the ferry over to Kadiköy pier on the Asian side across the Bosphorus. The views of Istanbul from the Bosphorus were stunning. On the other side, the main thing I wanted to do was explore Kadiköy Market, which was every bit as colorful as I had imagined. The fresh vegetables and seafood were fantastic, and I tried a cup of pickle juice.
1 Week Ago in Mumbai:
12:45 Seafood lunch at Balıkçı Lokantası Restaurant - Of all the meals I ate in Istanbul, this was one of my personal favorites, being a seafood lover. Not a far walk from the market, we went to a local family run seafood restaurant called Balıkçı Lokantası Restaurant. The owners were really friendly, and I ordered a plate of hamsi (which are anchovies), and I’m not sure of the name of the other dish, but I got Black Sea salmon braised in olive oil and butter I think with herbs and spices. It was one of the best Turkish foods I ate the entire trip to Istanbul. Wow, it was amazing.
20:50 Turkish Ice Cream - After spending some time exploring the Asian side of Istanbul, we took the ferry back to the European side, and since Istiklal Street was on our route, we stopped to have Turkish ice cream. You also see Turkish ice cream vendors playing with their customers, but when you’re the victim, it’s so confusing and funny. They have some serious skills playing with Turkish ice cream. Do you like Turkish ice cream?
23:49 Zübeyir Ocakbaşı Restaurant - For our final Turkish food meal of the day, we headed over to Zübeyir Ocakbaşı Restaurant. Ocakbaşı is a type of Turkish grill, and they served all sorts of different meat included kebabs and lamb chops in particular. We also got a bunch of side dishes and they cooked the kebabs and lamb chops right in front of us within the center of the restaurant. The kebab was the best I’ve ever had in my mouth, with an amazing mixture of minced meat and spices. Total price - 100 TL ($33.55). Thank you to David from for the recommendation.

Istanbul Tour Program - 4
Byzance & Ottoman Relics of Istanbul
Fullday Istanbul Tour ( Duration Approximately 8 hours )
Join us on this introductory excursion to explore the essential attractions of Istanbul, pearl of the Bosphorus. Board your air-conditioned private vehicle and cross the Galata Bridge to the Old Town of Constantinople. It takes little effort to imagine thundering chariots and the cheers of excited spectators as you view the remains of the Byzantine Hippodrome. Rome's great Circus Maximus inspired the huge square. You will also glimpse the pink granite Obelisk of Theodosius and the Serpentine Column, Istanbul's oldest Greek monument. Sultan Ahmet Camii, better known as the Blue Mosque, takes its nickname from the cerulean cast of its intricately tiled interior. Take a moment to view the impressive minarets that soar skyward. Then, remove your shoes at the mosque's entrance and cross rich layers of carpet that have been donated by the Muslim faithful over the years. Then, walk thru Topkapi Palace. The Topkapi Palace sits atop one of Istanbul's seven hills and commands superb views of theBosphorus Strait, the Sea of Marmara and the Golden Horn. Your walking tour includes the imperial courtyards of the palace, which were in use for nearly four centuries. After perusing the remarkable collection of porcelains and china in the kitchens, view the Ottoman Sultans‘ lavish imperial treasury. Among the priceless displays of 15th- to 19th-century Ottoman grandeur are 86-carat diamonds, solid gold candlesticks weighing over 100 pounds and items adorned with jade, emeralds and rubies. You will also see a meticulously maintained collection of royal fabrics and clothing. A one-time visit can only cover a fraction of this fabled palace. From Topkapi Palace, we will give you a lunch break. Our next stop is famous is the ancient Basilica of St. Sophia. Now a museum, the great church was built by Constantine the Great and reconstructed by the Emperor Justinian in the 6th century. As you approach on foot, observe its immense dome, which rises to a height of 150 feet. For 1,000 years, this dome earned the distinction as the world's largest. Frescoes and mosaics adorn its antique interior. Next, visit the famous Grand Bazaar with over 5,000 shops located in a maze of lanes and alleys. It is filled with thousands of curios, including carpets, fabrics, clothing, furniture and gold jewelry. Opposite the famous museum is the Undergound Cistern. Visit the cistern. Built by Justinian after 532, the Basilica Cistern stored water for the Great Palace and nearby buildings. Lost to memory, it was rediscovered by Petrus Gyllius, who came to Constantinople in search of Byzantine monuments. From the cistern, proceed to the Grand Bazaar where handicrafts from throughout Turkey are displayed in 5,000 shops. Within this bustling maze of lanes and alleys, you will find glittering jewels, the sweet scent of incense, radiant Turkish carpets and the vivid sheen of brass and copper. A short walk along one of the main alleys will provide you with a glimpse of this amazing place.End of the this private Istanbul shoretour, board the vehicle and return to your hotel or Istanbul cruise port.

Istanbul Street Food - DELICIOUS Turkish Kofte and Breakfast on Turkish Airlines!
►Check out my Istanbul travel food guide:
►Subscribe to my videos:
►Camera I use: (affiliate link)
Day 8: Istanbul, Turkey - On Day 8, we flew on Turkish Airlines and from Muscat to Istanbul. The flight on Turkish Airlines was fantastic, and I had my first ever Turkish breakfast while in the sky. We then checked into The Ritz-Carlton hotel, and had some amazing Istanbul street food kofte for lunch. Istanbul is a city that I’ve always wanted to visit, and I can’t wait to explore and eat more Turkish food!
0:15 Turkish Breakfast on Turkish Airlines - To begin this day and video my wife and I were on a flight with Turkish Airlines (member of Star Alliance) from Muscat, Oman to Istanbul, Turkey. Turkish Airlines is an amazing airlines, and on business class they served us Turkish breakfast since we happen to fly into Istanbul early in the morning. Bread, olives, cheese, honey, and then the main dish included eggs and vegetables. Great flight with Turkish Airlines!
2:42 Istanbul Atatürk Airport - We arrived to Istanbul very early in the morning and after grabbing our bag, we found the bus outside the terminal to go to Taksim Square. The bus cost 11 TL ($3.73) per person.
4:57 The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul - Marriott Hotels sponsored my stay in Istanbul, and it was an honor to have the opportunity to stay at the The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul, which is located just a 5 minute walk from Taksim Square, with a fantastic view of the Bosphorus. We got all checked in, and the room was fantastic.
7:44 Istanbul Street Food - Kofte Sandwich Stall - After taking a little rest in the hotel and drinking some coffee, Ying and I were both pretty hungry. There’s a small Istanbul street food stall that serves amazing grilled kofte, just down the street from The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul, and that’s exactly where we headed, right at lunch time. Before ever arriving I could smell the aroma of the meat on the grill and then I could see the colorful display of peppers and parsley surrounding the grill as well. I ordered a kofte sandwich, and after toasting the bread, he added in a bunch of little meat kofte patties, some tomatoes and onions and peppers, seasoned with some spices and chili powder and handed it to me. For 10 TL ($3.40) for sandwich and drink, this was about as good as it could possibly get for Istanbul street food! Wow it was so good.
12:17 Taksim Square and Turkish Coffee at Mandabatmaz (Istiklal Street) - After that amazing kofte sandwich, we continued walking through Taksim Square, one of the most famous landmarks of Istanbul and then on to the walking Istiklal street. The highlight for me was stopping at Mandabatmaz for a cup of the most amazing Turkish coffee I’ve ever had. Turkish coffee - 5 TL ($1.70).
17:04 Fish and Meat House - At this point Ying and I were starting to get really sleepy - we hadn’t really slept the night before. So we stopped for an early dinner at Fish and Meat House to have some grilled fish. I had the grilled sea bream, which was simple and plain but excellently fresh and cooked perfectly. The salad was also delicious. Total price for everything - 74 TL ($25.12).
Disclaimer and Thank You:
This trip was made possible by Star Alliance and their Round The World tickets ( who sponsored my business class flights.
The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul sponsored my stay in Istanbul.
Thank you to Star Alliance, Marriott Hotels, and Turkish Airlines for making this trip happen.

Istanbul Adventure Trips
Istanbul adventure trips is hot. And we're not talking about the weather. These days, there are more happening restaurants, bars, galleries and clubs around town than there are exquisite Ottoman mosques (and that's a lot). The international fashion and design press have been talking up Istanbul ad nauseam, but the most significant thing about the accolade 'World's Hippest City' is that Istanbullus themselves have come believe it. The creeping sense of decrepitude that had fallen like a pall over their once-all-powerful home town has vanished, replaced by a sense of energy and innovation not seen since the days of Süleyman the Magnificent.
Istanbul adventure trips. The city's over-abundance of important historic buildings and exciting new art galleries and museums provides visitors with more than enough to see during the day, but it's at night that the place swings into high-velocity, mega-stylish action. Locals are flocking to see and be seen at an ever-growing array of bars, clubs and restaurants, bringing with them an infectious sense of joie de vivre and a discerning ability to judge these places on their standard of service, drinks, music and food as well as their position in the what's-hot-and-what's-not stakes.
Enjoy this amazing Istanbul adventure trips and coment below please!
Turkey Vlog 9 | Bosporus River Cruise | Indians in Istanbul
Having heard some rave reviews about this route, we arrived at the Eminönü station and bought our tickets for the long Bosphorous tour. We hadn't had breakfast and ended up eating potato chips our entire 2&1/2 hours of the boat ride. The Bosphorous is beautiful, turquoise in colour, with seagulls soaring overhead. Although a bit chilly, the boat is heated and fairly comfortable. We made a lot of stops at small villages enroute all the way to the Black sea. We then stopped by a fishing village for lunch. This was a let-down for us since we were both vegetarians. The views were good, but the food was very basic and almost obnoxiously expensive. We sat out in the ferry docking house (without heating) for almost an hour since there was nothing to do in this village for 3 hours in winter. The weather was dull and we were freezing by the time we hopped back on. By now, all we wanted was to get back to the mainland. We headed back to our Airbnb and made some steaming hot Maggi for a late lunch. We then watched some shows on Netflix for a bit before going out to get dinner at a Vegan place called Falafel Zone. (which turned out to be one of the more decent Vegan places in Turkey we happened to visit) Istiklal was our night jam every night in Istanbul and the energy was just brilliant as always. Called it a night early!
Mini-tip: Take the Short Bosphorous tour, it costs ~ 12 TL and is a nice way to spend a morning if you've packed a picnic to eat on board. Take a book with you. If it is in winter, make sure you bundle up nice & proper.
Bosphorous Tours info: Tickets will have to be purchased at the ferry terminal.
