Atwell searches for Headless Brakeman at Gurdon RR
me, Joan telling TRUE story what happened to us at the railroad track in Gurdon, Arkansas close to Crossett. Headless man, GHOST, looking for his head while swinging a lantern? Local folklore says so. Old historians say this is the ghost of William McClain who really did die at this very place in a killing or accident many years ago..
I just know this: It scared the living FIRE out of me and I never wanted to go back until now. Forty years have passed, my newspaper article stirred up some interest locally after the Unsolved Mysteries story plus others on TV. A book was written including this happening at Gurdon in the top 41 scariest stories in the world. Now quite a bit is on internet about what is called an unsolved mystery..
Dad Gum it..I might go back but I won't have Bonnie with me this time. Bonnie Jean was Bonnie Bennett from Spearsville and she married Little Roy Lewis of The Lewis Family from Georgia. You can see her pictures on The Lewis Family site. TheLewisFamilyMusic.com..
Well, what do y'all think? Would you if you lived within 2 hours of the Gurdon light? Forty plus years have passed and I now have grown sons who could take me. And of course we would have a video camera this time. Your comments would sure be welcomed..

THE GURDON LIGHT
One of the best-known phenomena in the state of Arkansas happens in this location. The Gurdon Light has fascinated people for years and baffled experts as to its possible cause. In this section of railroad tracks between Highway 53 and the interchange of Sticky Road and Highway 30, a strange light appears on or near the tracks, which does not seem to have a normal source or cause. It has been said to resemble that of a lantern and it swings from side to side, frequently changing size and colors and disappears only to reappear seconds later..
GHOST of William McClain?.
The most popular legend behind the light involves a murder that took place on these railroad tracks. In December 1931, Louis McBride approached his foreman Will McClain regarding getting more hours. They worked for the Missouri-Pacific Railroad during the Great Depression. At the time, the company was limited on how many days they could allow their employees to work. The argument got heated and McBride hit McClain over the head and knocked him down. He then killed him with either a spike hammer or spike maul. The story goes that the murder took place nearby on this line of tracks and that the light would be spotted for the first time shortly thereafter. The light is believed to be the burning of McClain's lantern as he walks the tracks; some say looking for his severed head..
NATIONAL ATTENTION
The Gurdon Light has attracted the attention of several popular television shows over the years and has been featured on Unsolved Mysteries and Real Scary Stories, as well as been covered in several books on ghosts and hauntings.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter (; born September 4, 1981) is an American singer, songwriter, actress, record producer and dancer. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Beyoncé performed in various singing and dancing competitions as a child. She rose to fame in the late 1990s as lead singer of the R&B girl-group Destiny's Child. Managed by her father, Mathew Knowles, the group became one of the best-selling girl groups in history. Their hiatus saw Beyoncé's theatrical film debut in Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002) and the release of her first solo album, Dangerously in Love (2003). The album established her as a solo artist worldwide, debuting at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart and earning five Grammy Awards, and featured the Billboard Hot 100 number one singles Crazy in Love and Baby Boy.
Following the break-up of Destiny's Child in 2006, she released her second solo album, B'Day (2006), which contained her fourth number one single, Irreplaceable, as well as the top ten singles Déjà Vu, and Beautiful Liar. Beyoncé also continued her acting career, with starring roles in The Pink Panther (2006), Dreamgirls (2006), and Obsessed (2009). Her marriage to rapper Jay-Z and portrayal of Etta James in Cadillac Records (2008) influenced her third album, I Am... Sasha Fierce (2008), which saw the introduction of her alter-ego Sasha Fierce and earned a record-setting six Grammy Awards in 2010, including Song of the Year for Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It). Beyoncé took a hiatus from music in 2010 and took over management of her career; her fourth album 4 (2011) was subsequently mellower in tone, exploring 1970s funk, 1980s pop, and 1990s soul. Her critically acclaimed eponymous album, released in 2013 with no prior announcement, was distinguished from previous releases by its experimental production and exploration of darker themes. Her sixth album, Lemonade (2016), also received widespread critical acclaim, with many referring to it as her most personal and political work to date, and subsequently became the best-selling album of 2016. In 2018, she released Everything Is Love, a collaborative album with husband Jay-Z, as The Carters.
Throughout her career, Beyoncé has sold over 100 million records worldwide as a solo artist, and a further 60 million records with Destiny's Child, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time. The Recording Industry Association of America recognized Beyoncé as the Top Certified Artist in America during the 2000s decade. In 2009, Billboard named her the Top Radio Songs Artist of the Decade and the Top Female Artist of the 2000s decade.Among numerous awards and accolades, Beyoncé has won 2 ...
