The Kamogawa (鴨川) or Kamo River crosses Kyoto from North to South. The symbol Kamo (鴨) means wild duck in Japanese and gawa (川) is the symbol for river. Kamogawa's riverbanks are full of life, especially when the sun is shining and the temperature is rising. Many different animals can be seen going about their daily business, including wild ducks, and the luscious flora is one to be admired. Picnicking or just chilling around the river is one of the favorite pastimes of Kyoto residents as well as the many tourists that make it to this beautiful city. I just love biking up and down this beautiful stream. This video is dedicated to the beauty and diversity of the wild duck river.
