Katie's Wekiva River Landing - Sanford Florida
Katie's Wekiva River Landing - Sanford
Wekiva River Lower Falls, Katie's Landing, Sanford, Florida
Good spot to put your kayak in the river, picnic, relax with a book.
Katie's Landing on the Wekiva River
Gather your kayaks and make a lunch, then take a leisurely ride up the Wekiva River on a beautiful Sunday morning. Start at Katie's Landing (it's $3.00 a vehicle) and head into almost heaven and a very peaceful ride.
If you head South, you will intersect SR46 and cruise under the rumble of the cars and trucks. Later you will pass the entrance to Wekiva Falls (a good canoe and kayak rental source). Watch out for the locals on their skiffs and noisy swamp buggies.
For access to the Wekiva River to fish from the bank or launch your own canoe or kayak, an excellent location is Katie's Landing at Lower Wekiva River Preserve, 262 Wekiva Park Drive, Sanford, FL 32711. Katie's does offer restroom facilities, picnic tables and grills however there is no potable water at this location.

Katie's Landing to Highbanks (Lower Wekiva): 6/15/2019
After traveling through the construction chaos to get to Katie's Landing (which road is barely recognizable anymore - I think they can take the bear crossing signs down now), we enjoyed a beautiful day on the water with a great group of people. We had a playful manatee follow us, saw lots of big gators and celebrated three birthdays!!!
The most beautiful place I've ever dived! (Breathtaking!)
What's up guys Jake here! I hope you all are having a wonderful day and had a great memorial day. In this video, I traveled to Florida and visited Rainbow springs and Devils Den. The view was incredible!! If we can get 100 likes on this video I will get scuba certified and revisit both of these places in a few weeks and make another video!!
Don't forget to smash that subscribe button on the way out! Big things coming soon, in the meantime, keep swimming!

Devil's Eye and Ear at Ginnie Springs in Gilchrist County Circa 2000.
Please excuse the quality. I'm posting this for historical reasons because some of the places I dived back in the early 2000's do not look the same anymore. I am a professional videographer and I'm aware the color and quality of this footage is sub par. This was shot in standard def on a consumer grade Hi-8 camera in a Top Dawg underwater housing back in 2000. This is the mouth of Devil's Ear and Devil's Eye cave systems. It was originally edited on a Fast Silver NLE.

We followed the red trail which is about 4.5miles (not including walking to Kelly Park). Its a great hike but it doesn't have much tree coverage so make sure you are hydrated and wear sun screen.
