KAWAGOE Festival - Japanese Matsuri near Tokyo
Exploring Kawagoe and the annual festival in an older area less than an hour from Tokyo - a perfect day trip from Tokyo.
Kawagoe is known for the Warehouse District, an area with beautiful old Edo-style buildings called Kurazukuri. The famous landmark of the area is the bell tower. In October they have their annual Kawagoe Matsuri, with floats, music, dancing and Japanese street food. We were lucky to be able to experience a Japanese festival, which was even more magical at night time!

KAWAGOE - A Daytrip from Tokyo 【Koedo Kawagoe Matsuri】
On the last days of the Golden Week in May (national holidays in Japan) I visited my host family.
I came to them for the first time in 2009 and now it's been 10 years. We meet around once a year and I'm positively surprised we still keep contact.
For that reason I lived some months in Kawagoe and I really want to show you more of that place. However, it wasn't a good weekend for filming. The weather wasn't on my side and until the end of May I had a lot of things to deal with.
So, partly I like this video. And partly I wish, I could have made it bettter and shown you more. I'm definetely planning on doing more videos on Kawagoe or Kamakura in the future, two of my favorite places.

The Magical Kawagoe Festival, Japan
Once a year, a town of beautiful warehouses holds the Kawagoe Festival, a magically glittering two days!
●The Kawagoe Festival is held on the third weekend of October every year in the city of Kawagoe, Saitama Prefecture (Near Tokyo)
●The sound of traditional festival music, graceful dancing, and festival floats that never fail to impress!
●The festival climaxes after night falls, offering even more beauty and fun

【4K】Walking at Kawagoe festival
Not a vlog, no intrusive faces or talking, pure Japan only.
Last weekend there was a festival in Kawagoe city. I wanted to go there someday anyway so it was good opportunity. It's a big tourist place so there are a lot of people in usual days and even more during the festival. After walking a bit I started understanding I will not be able to get to the Bell Tower in 1 hour because of crowds. Also, it began raining and I had no gimbal protection on. So I had to walk faster and even run to the shelter where I put protection on. Then I could calm down and walk slowly.
You can see a lot of food stalls in the beginning of the video, and old part of Kawagoe in the end. I passed multiple performance stages and even wheeled dashi

I couldn't believe how many food stands there were - and a huge variety of types of street food, including yakisoba, sweet potato fries, kara age (fried chicken), choco bananas and lots more. It was a treat to try them all, and see what type of food they have at a Japanese festival.

I was lucky enough to capture a Japanese wedding ceremony in Japan! Shrines, Wind Chime Festival, Street Food, and Edo-period architecture! in Kawagoe, Japan!
A day trip from Tokyo! Kawagoe is a small city in Saitama prefecture. It's about an hour train ride from Shinjuku. Kawagoe is also known as Little Edo. This Edo-period castle town is perfect for a small get away from the big city.

Spectacular festival floats carrying exquisitely crafted dolls are pulled around the center of Koedo-Kawagoe’s landmark Kurazukuri (traditional architecture) Zone. Spectators will be overwhelmed by the sheer scale of the many festival floats as they pass by each other when meeting at an intersection.

Kawagoe Trip Episode Series:
Candy Alley is a little shopping street adjacent to the Warehouse District. It is lined by stores selling traditional Japanese sweets and cakes, which gave the alley its name. Among the treats sold are various candies, rice crackers, karinto (sugar coated, deep fried cookies), ice cream, and cakes made of red bean paste and sweet potatoes. Also available are small toys and accessories which make nice souvenirs to take home.
