Micah Davis spoke with City Engineer Dave Solberg: This is the Carson Park Causeway Project, officially it's Grand Avenue, and it's one of two entrances into Carson Park.
The total cost was $2.9 million, out of that $900,000 is the approximate bridge cost, and we had a $900,000 grant from the state, and then the rest of it is city funds. This project started with a bridge replacement, there was an aged bridge that was built in the 1930's.
As part of the bridge replacement we looked at the causeway leading up the bridge. Countless number of improvements that were made with this over what was here previously.
We have erosion control along the banks. You'll be able to sit by the lake, you'll be able to fish. We included tree drops so there's actually fish habitat out in the water. There are two ADA accessible fishing piers. The railing is designed so if you catch a big fish, you can bring it between the slots of rail, you don't have to bring it up over the top. You'll be able to launch a kayak here if you want, sit on a bench, enjoy the trails. We've been working on it for three years, so to finally be at the stage where we're done with construction, there was a lot of thought that went into it.

Queen Califia's Magical Circle Escondido Ca. - Niki de Saint Phalle
Queen Califia's Magical Circle is a sculpture garden in Kit Carson Park in Escondido California built by a French artist Niki de Saint Phalle and was opened to the public on October 26, 2003.
At the time of the recording the site was undergoing some repairs due to the heavy rains from Winter of 2017.

Footage taken during the PASEO Arts Festival using the Yuneec Q500 4K Drone. 1080p 30fps video resolution.
This was a beautiful day in Taos, New Mexico - perfect for viewing the amazing art pieces installed in Kit Carson Park. The art is part of an exhibition at the PASEO Arts Festival.
The Yuneec Typhoon Drone flight was in coordination with Tizz Tizzdale a certified drone pilot with professional experience. You can see some of the flight of his drone during this video.
NOTE: Tizz was using a lighter drone equipped with blade shrouds for safety purposes.
Thank you to the Taos Police Chief for his safety guidance, education and support of drone videography during the PASEO Art Festival.
