China constructed the Danyang–Kunshan Grand Bridge in just 4 years, employing 10,000 workers, at a cost of about $8.5 million. It crosses low rice paddies, part of the Yangtze River Delta, with just a few miles of the bridge actually crossing the open water of Yangcheng Lake in Suzhou. The bridge averages about 100 feet (31 meters) off the ground.
The world's longest road bridge is the 34-mile (55-km) long Bang Na expressway in Thailand, a six-lane elevated highway that crosses only a bit of water, the Bang Pakong River. Constructing the massive bridge required more than 1,800,000 cubic meters of concrete.
The world's longest continuous bridge over water is the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway in southern Louisiana. The causeway is actually two parallel bridges, with the longer of the two measuring 23.83 miles (38 km). The bridges are supported by 9,500 concrete pilings.
Louisiana's famous bridge faced a challenger in 2011, when China claimed that its Jiaozhou Bay Bridge was the longest spanning water. Guinness World Records decided to split the title into two parts, stating that the 26.4-mile (42.5-km) long Jiaozhou Bay Bridge is the longest bridge over water in aggregate, while the Pontchartrain is the longest continuous bridge. In Jiaozhou, land bridges and sea tunnels make up parts of the overall structure.

WUHAN -- Construction of a double-deck suspension bridge with the longest span in the world is expected to be completed in October 2019, said an engineer working on the project.
The bridge, with a 1,700-meter-long main span across the Yangtze River in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, saw the first steal beam installed for the bridge deck Thursday.
The main structure of the bridge deck consists of 49 steel beams that are each 36 meters long, 32.5 meters wide and 10 meters tall. Each beam weighs around 1,000 tonnes, the weight of about 200 adult elephants.
Liang Xianwei, an engineer with the project, said the project is expected to be finished in October next year.

Believe it or not, this 164.8 km (102.4 mi) viaduct is part of world's longest HSR line—Beijing-Shanghai Line in which three long bridges along this line listed in the 10 longest bridges in the world. Viaducts are common for high-speed train for a smooth ride on uneven terrain.

Jiaozhou Bay Bridge (or Qingdao Haiwan Bridge) is a 26.7 km (16.6 mi) long roadway bridge in eastern China's Shandong province, which is part of the 41.58 km (25.84 mi) Jiaozhou Bay Connection Project.[1] The longest continuous segment of the bridge is 25.9 km (16.1 mi)., making it one of the longest bridges in the world.
The Jiaozhou Bay Bridge transects Jiaozhou Bay, which reduces the road distance between Qingdao and Huangdao by 30 km (19 mi), compared with the expressway along the coast of the bay, reducing travel time by 20 to 30 minutes. The design of the bridge is T-shaped with the main entry and exit points in Huangdao and the Licang District of Qingdao. A branch to Hongdao Island is connected by a semi-directional T interchange to the main span.The construction used 450,000 tons of steel and 2.3 million cubic metres (81×106 cu ft) of concrete.The bridge is designed to be able to withstand severe earthquakes, typhoons, and collisions from ships.[4] It is supported by 5,238 concrete piles.[6] The cross section consists of two beams in total 35 m (115 ft) wide carrying six lanes with two shoulders.

10. Hangzhou Bay Bridge, China
The Hangzhou Bay Bridge opened on May 1st, 2008 making it the longest sea-crossing bridge in the world. It spans 22 miles or 35 km in length which took 4 years to complete. The bridge connects Ningbo’s Cixi to Jiaxing. This highway bridge features a cabled-stayed portion in the middle which was chosen to endure, earthquakes and typhoons that can occur in the region. The completion of the Hangzhou Bay Bridge reduced a trip from Ningbo to Shanghai by 112 mi or 180 km and reduced the time traveled by 2 hours. The challenging design of the bridge required over 600 experts a decade to design. Offshore construction, turbulent waters, and pockets of underground methane are just a few of the construction obstacles faced by engineers during this project. Half way across the bridge is a manmade island called Land between the Sea and the Sky which houses shopping, parking, restaurants and a hotel.
9. Yangcun Bridge, China
Opened in August, 2008 the Yungcan Bridge completed the Beijing Tianjin Intercity Railway. This high speed rail only bridge connects the 73 mile or 117 km path between Beijing and Tianjin. The bridge itself measure 22 miles or 35 km in length just as the previous bridge but this one is just 650 feet or 200 meters longer. The building of this bridge reduced the time between northern China’s two largest cities from 70 to 30 minutes.

The Manchac Swamp Bridge carries Interstate 55 almost 23 miles or 36.7km over Lake Maurepas in the southern US state of Louisiana. This 4 lane bridge spans ⅓ of the highway’s total distance is over water. It cost 7 million dollars per mile to build the bridge, piles were driven 250 feet, 76 meters into the swamp floor to make sure it was stable. An impressive feat of engineering this bridge opened in 1979 and features a Twin concrete trestle bridge design which took 120,000 ft or 36,000 meters of concrete to complete its construction.
7. Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, USA
The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway Bridge also in Louisiana runs a total distance of 23.8 miles or 38.4 km. This 4 lane bridge completed its first round of construction in 1956 being the southbound section and in 1969 the northbound section was complete. The idea for this bridge has been around since the 19th century, in the 1920s an idea for a long bridge hopping across multiple islands was proposed. In the 1930s a ferry service opened up and by 1948 a concrete plan was devised to build the Lake Pontchartain Causeway.

Completed in 2010, the Beijing Grand Bridge opened in 2011 and spans 29.9 miles or 48 km between Beijing and Langfang. This bridge is a high speed rail bridge or classified as a railway viaduct bridge that floats over the surface of the ground. The longest span on this bridge measures 354 feet or 108 meters.

The bridge is 49.5 miles or 79.6 km which crosses the Wei River twice as well as the Luofu River, Shidi River, Xi River, Ling River as well as highways and other railways.

China's Mind Blowing Pyramid Residential Building :Guangxi News Media Centre Strange Architecture
A massive residential building in China has shot to fame for its quirky, pyramid-like shape.
The futuristic 18-storey structure is situated in Kunshan, a city near Shanghai, and has gathered great interest from the public for its unusual design.
An impressive drone video released by China News Service shows how flats stack one on top of another on a 45-degree slope as if they were made with Lego blocks.
Standing 100 metres (330 feet) tall, the bizarre yet popular building in Kunshan's Huaqiao district is a part of a residential and commercial complex, which was completed in 2013 and has two other 12-storey structures.
All three buildings have a protruding and slanted surface on two sides, and from some angle the buildings look like pyramids. The other two exterior walls of each building are normal vertical ones.
Masters' Architectural Office, the firm that designed the complex, told MailOnline that its architects were inspired by the traditional Chinese terraced rice fields, which are built into mountain slopes.
The Shanghai-based firm said it also took ideas from parkour, an urban activity which sees people running and jumping between buildings and is loved by young Chinese city dwellers. Apparently, the firm hopes the buildings would be associated with the trending and modern sport.
One resident in the complex, known by his surname Huang, told China News Service the buildings' unique design means each apartment comes with a big terrace and he liked the feature especially.
Mr Huang who lives in a third-floor flat said: 'It is a special way of living. My friends often come to my house to hang out on the terrace. We would drink tea and relax.'
The Chinese public have been intrigued by the building trio, with many web users suggesting that the complex could serve as the set of sci-fi films.
Others find the design mind-blowing. One such user posted on Twitter-like Weibo saying 'I am a bit dizzy after looking at so many balconies'; while another wrote 'I would get lost in the building'.
The Guangxi New Media Centre, located in the autonomous region of Guangxi in south-eastern China, has taken nearly two years to build.
But locals in the Chinese province, on the border with Vietnam, have been less than impressed with the design of the structure.

The trains count with attendants (some speak a little English) and sell foods (also a restaurant cabin available), western style bathrooms that are mostly clean. The Danyang–Kunshan Grand Bridge is the world’s longest bridge. It is a 164.8 kilometres (102.4 mi) long viaduct on the Beijing–Shanghai High-Speed Railway where the geography is characterized by lowland rice paddies, canals, rivers and lakes.

The World's Highest Bridge Will Open in China This Year
Chinese engineers linked the two halves of the Beipanjiang Bridge in southwestern China on Saturday. Spanning the Beipan river, the bridge sits 565 metres (1,854 feet) above the ground. It is expected to be open for traffic by the end of the year, linking the cities of Liupanshui in Guizhou province to Xuanwei in neighbouring Yunnan province
The Beipanjiang Bridge suspends nearly 2,000 feet above the Beipan river, and extends 2,300 feet between China's mountains. When the construction is completed, the extension will cut the travel time between Yunnan and Guizhou, two provinces, in half.
Previously, China's Si Du River Bridge had taken the title. But that bridge is actually quite low in comparison, hanging 1,600 feet above the river.
But for bridge towers, Beipanjiang Bridge is only the 10th tallest.
