La Valette Underground Military Museum - Guernsey
Guernsey's La Valette Underground Military Museum is housed in a World War 2 German tunnel complex. It houses many exhibits from World War 1, World War 2 and the Royal Guernsey Militia. It is situated next to the Aquarium and was built to be used as a fuel store for refuelling submarines. It has four main tunnels with a long corridor running along the back of them and an unfinished fifth tunnel.
There were four large fuel tanks in there each weighing 60 tonnes empty and held 30,000 gallons of fuel each adding an extra 120 tonnes to each of them. After World War 2, each of the fuel tanks were found to be full of fuel. The Germans produced this fuel oil using coal. The tomato growing industry were desperate for heating fuel for their greenhouses and the fuel was quickly used up by the growers.
The tunnel entrances were level with the road, but after three of the tanks were removed in 1946 they were blocked off and a large earth bank built in front of them. In 1987 work started on turning them into a museum. They had to dig down through the earth bank to reach the tunnel entrance The museum entrance was extended to protect visitors from possible rockfalls above and the museum was finally opened in August 1988.
Guernsey was the most fortified place in the whole of the Atlantik Wall. During World War 2 the Channel Islands were occupied for five years by Adolf Hitler's German Nazi forces. They bought in thousands of Organisation Todt slave workers which were forced to build this and hundreds of other fortifications around Guernsey and live in terrible conditions.
Guernsey was liberated on the 9th May 1945 and Liberation Day is celebrated every year on the 9th May. This video will be one of many uploaded during 2010 to celebrate 65 years of the Liberation Day.
This museum is well lit and is well worth a visit.

Guernsey Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia
Guernsey is the second largest of the Channel Islands. Just twenty-five square miles in area, this pocket-sized British Crown dependency is big on sunshine, serenity and history.
St. Peter Port, is one of Europe’s prettiest harbor towns. Standing guard over the capital for over 800 years is Castle Cornet, which houses some of the island’s finest museums.
Continue your history lesson back in town, at the Guernsey Museum and Art Gallery.
Just outside in Candie Gardens, stands a tribute to the literary giant, Victor Hugo, who fell under Guernsey’s spell in the 19th century.
Follow coastal paths, which pass coastal forts like Clarence Battery and sheltered beaches like Petit Bot Bay. While Guernsey’s coastline often steals the show, you’ll find plenty to explore inland too, such as the nature trails and floral displays of Saumarez Park and Sausmarez Manor.
Step into the damp netherworld of the German Underground Hospital, a maze of tunnels hewn from solid rock during World War Two. On the outskirts of St Peter Port, a former U-Boat fuel depot houses the La Vallette Underground Military Museum.
After the war, German equipment littered the island. The German Occupation Museum displays an incredible array of this wartime memorabilia, and pays tribute to the resourceful islanders who endured the years of occupation.
After spending a few hours wandering through the shadows of war, stepping back into the island’s sea air and sunshine is all more the sweeter.

Sausmarez Manor Sculpture Trail HD 1080p
Visited the surreal sculpture trail at Sausmarez Manor and felt as though I'd stepped into The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus. Curiously seductive, must go back and have another look.

Trip to Malta - Voyage à Malte - DAY 2 Part 3 - Lascaris War Rooms Entrance (and Satan???)
And of course, I'm aware that Malta as a country has actually never faced any war (during WW2 Malta was part of the United Kingdom) but in this video I'm talking about the island itself when I talk about Maltese wars .
Just a little precision before people start whining that Malta is independant since 1964 and a republic since 1974 you fool, go home with your Maltese wars lol .
A little surprise at the end of the video... SPOILER ALERT: don't worry, it's only a drawing near the entrance lol
