Pictures from the drive out west:
This road trip was done in a 7-person RV. It was a lot of fun. We had a rough plan, but not as much planning as many would think. There were some hairy moments, like the small, washed out roads on the edge of a mountain leading to the village of Mogollon, New Mexico. Which is in the middle of nowhere. We saw elk, deer, foxes, rabbits, various birds and even a B52 bomber, flying low over Amarillo, Texas!
“It’s in those quiet little towns, at the edge of the world, that you will find the salt of the earth people who make you feel right at home.”
- Aaron Lauritsen - 100 Days Drive: The Great North American Road
The journey was amazing. The scenery changes from east to west. Oklahoma and Texas are interesting. Sometimes amazingly flat. We saw huge Jesus crosses and heard The Word of God. Set foot near ancient Indian cliff dwellings, pictographs and the even ancestral land of Geronimo himself. We climbed cliff faces and searched out natural hot springs along the Gila River in pristine wilderness. We’re told stories of mountain lion and bear attacks, which helps keep one alert on the trails. We even saw a car flip over, right in front of us on a 16-lane super highway in southern CA. Ahhh, California.
The Pacific Ocean. Surfing. Sun. California!
We saw UFOs. At the Prophecy Watchers 1st annual Blessed Hope conference in Norman, Oklahoma we learned about what a UFO and aliens really are. This was an eye-opener that would set the stage for the bulk of the trip through the Wild West. We cruised along the old Route 66 and on roads barely visible on the maps. America and certainly west of the mighty Mississippi, is filled with beauty. Blessed with amazing landscapes.
The Heavens Above - Out in the open western states, the stars literally light up the night sky. The Milky Way can be seen, snaking through the evening skies and other constellations seem to come to life.
We hope our family, friends and whomever views enjoy these images. It warped into a video documentary of sorts, of traveling across this wonderful land. America is a diverse country. The differences from East to West are noticeable, yet there is a common-thread. It is more than just the English language, which some say the Founding Fathers adopted. Dare I say, it’s one Nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.

I am going to be changing my channel name and would like to involve you guys. I would like you guys to leave some suggestions in the comments. I have a couple of ideas but I would like to see what you guys come up with.
Finding Good Crappie Fishing Spots
Jason made a point in the fall and winter to look for new crappie fishing spots with his electronics. He started in some productive arms of the lake and idled along break lines looking for brush piles with fish.
These creek channel edges are often where fishermen like to drop their brush piles. So Jason scanned with Lowrance HDS 3D Structure Scan for likely looking spots and brush piles until he found schools of crappie holding on them.
Once he saw a good school of fish on a brush pile, he stopped and fished it. He would cast a jig over the top, when they quit biting that, he would pitch to the piles from a closer distance, and finally he would get right on top of them and fish vertically on the pile.
He had one of the best fall/winter periods for crappie fishing in recent years by getting out and hunting for fish more with his electronics.

Lake Overholser Dam in Oklahoma City
Lake Overholser Dam in Oklahoma City in the winter time ice on the Overholser lake,The overholser Dam The Overholser Dam was built in 1917 and 1918 to impound water from the North Canadian River west of Oklahoma City,
By 1910 the City's population was at 32,000, a growing meatpacking industry was in place, and the City had been newly designated as the state capital.
From the Land Run forward, Oklahoma City had depended on raw water from the North Canadian and a handful of water wells. But it was now clear to City leaders that wells would not produce enough water to satisfy the needs of future growth.
Overholser Railroad
A rail spur was run out to the dam site to
carry construction materials.
In 1913, the United States Reclamation Service (now the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation) recommended a dam and reservoir be built upriver from the City. USRS Director F.H. Newell visited the City and pointed out to civic leaders that Denver and Dallas had both recently begun projects to build reservoirs,This old dam was ready in 1924 the North Canadian River go's in to lake Overholser then though Oklahoma City heading east.
