Lake Wabby is the hidden gem of Fraser Island. It's not as popular as neither Lake McKenzie or Lake Birrabeen, maybe cause of the one or two-kilometer hike - but don't leave Lake Wabby just cause of that.
This beautiful oasis is hidden beneath a rain forest top and behind sand dunes high as houses. Lake Wabby is a oasis in every sense of the word.
Whether you drive to the lookout point over Lake Wabby and walk down from there, or make the walk from 75-mile beach. This place will NOT disappoint you.
Lake Wabby is a personal favourite of Tor, it's so picturesque. Don't miss out on it!

Day 1 part 2, our next stop was at Lake Wabby.
Such a unique spot that will not be around for long. We got lucky as there were not many people around and we had a lot of fun running down the steep dunes and into the lake. I would definitely recommend this spot as the tourist buses do not come here and, I would guess, be quiet most of the time.

Lake Wabby Hike - Fraser Island
Lake Wabby is a well known lake on Fraser Island. It's relatively small and is getting gradually consumed by the Hammerstone Sand Blow. At 12 meters it is the deepest lake on the island and unlike most of the others is full of aquatic life, particularly large catfish. There are 2 hiking tracks, one from the beach about 4.3 km north of Eurong which is 2.4 km long and the other is a shorter one from a carpark off Cornwell's Break Road which is 2.4 km long. This is the later. It includes a lookout with spectacular views.

Jumping Over Sand Dunes by Lake Wabby (Fraser Island, Australia)
While walking through the forest to Lake Wabby on Fraser Island we came across these sand dunes so thought it would be fun to jump over them. Sand got everywhere!
