Lake of Pusiano, Como/Lecco, Lombardy, Italy, Europe
Lake Pusiano, or Eupili, is a lake located between the provinces of Como and Lecco, in Brianza, Lombardy. In his honor the most illustrious son (Giuseppe Parini) published his first book of poems (tone arcade), under the pseudonym Ripano Eupilino. Lake Pusiano has a maximum length of 2,700 meters, a width of 2,400 meters, a perimeter of about 11 kilometers, a minimum area (in lean times) of 5,250,000 square meters of up to 6.72 million square meters during periods of full. The water volume is 81 million cubic meters.
Powered by the Lambro River, which takes its name Lambrone the stretch immediately upstream of the lake. Since 1811 the lake is regulated at the outlet to the valley of the Lambro through a dam, Cable Diotti, now managed by the Regional Park of the Lambro Valley. On the shores of this stretch of water lie the towns of Pusiano, Eupilio, Merone Grass and in the province of Como, Cesana Brianza, Bosisio Parini and Rogeno in the province of Lecco. Not far from Pusiano, entirely in the territory of Lecco there is another body of water just over extended named Lake Annone, by the municipality of Annone di Brianza. The exclusive rights of fishing and navigation are managed by the company Egirent srl. Among the objectives declared by the board chair Egidio Motta, there are the redevelopment of the historic fisherman's house and a revival of the fishing in the lake. The activity was officially presented to the press on October 20, 2012 to deny any form of speculation. As of 1 January 2013 there will be a new regulation of fishing. By the summer of 2013 will finish all the works of cleaning of the banks already provided by the company Egirent. Thanks to a close partnership between Egirent and Shimano, Lake Pusiano host in 2013 fishing events of international character. The lake is the small Island of Cypresses, privately owned. Of particular importance for the development of the lake the arrival, in 1550, the family Carpani that despite appeals, lawsuits and legal battles will remain the owner from 1588 to 1765 when a new change in ownership will anticipate the arrival of the French. To preserve imperial basin became Napoleonic heritage. Here used to spend their holidays Eugene de Beauharnais, viceroy of the Kingdom of Italy Napoleonic, from which the current name of the building located in Pusiano. Legend has it that this building was preferred to others because here it was possible to reach the bedroom without dismounting; this was due to the real need to prevent the firing of potential bombers: so rapid entry, less time to take aim. The story also tells that in 1816 the mechanic Locatelli performed the first experiment of the ship inaufragabile, probably a boat equipped with special technical equipment that made it particularly resistant in case of rain or thunderstorms. Test not slightly information handed down in writing. However, it is certain that, in 1820, on Lake Pusiano you saw the first steamboat of Italy, experiment that the Austrians, the new rulers of the time, were soon set suspecting that behind that action there was a nest of conspirators. In 1870 the new transfer of ownership of the lake to the city of Bosisio, until the advent of the company Owners Lake Pusiano and annexes that took over the ownership of the lake and its dependencies. So up to 1922 when the Italian waters became state property as per government decree issued by Benito Mussolini in 1928 they were then attributed to the owners of Rights Fishing, sailing, make ice, cutting bones and aquatic plants. Lake Pusiano also binds the story of Angela and Teresa Isacchi two visionaries in the second half of the nineteenth century became a pilgrimage site not only from Lombardy, but Italy and the entire European nobles in transit. According to legend, some of their meditations, the result of direct talks with the Blessed Virgin Mary, were reported on books especially popular until the early '900. The story goes that predicted the fall of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the end of the temporal power of the Church, both facts that occurred after a little time. Literature and mythology have always been intertwined around Lake Pusiano as evidenced by the most famous legend, known to the public as St. George and the Dragon. Legend that is reflected in the medieval bestiaries (Liber Sanctorum notitie Medionalii) and back to the ancient times, with the existence in Pusiano a creepy dragon from Grass raged until the Valassina while polluting the air with his pestilential breath.
Not a day passed without the slaughter of cattle did until the people decided to appease his wrath and his greed with a dramatic tribute. So they were randomly selected young people of the villages surrounding the lake so that the dragon whereabouts satisfaction.

Pusiano Lake - Storm
Bouřka na Pusianu
Le Ballet du Vide: l'Eolienne by Fabio Raffaldi
This dynamic temporary installation was intended to be displayed for two weeks in the waters of the lake Pusiano (Bosisio Parini municipality) in Northern Italy.
Unfortunately, already during the third day, a strong wind storm partially damaged it, so the author decided to remove and restore it for a future, and hopefully longer lasting, display.

The stones ... and the idea of heaviness that arouse
The water
The shifting equilibrium
Natural materials
The dance
Mathematics
Finally (actually in the beginning), the mobiles of A. Calder
From this, a few years ago, the Ballet du Vide project was born: to free stones from their weight and let them dance freely in orbital motions governed by the laws of physics and the breeze that brings them to life gently touching them. Weight becomes emptiness and the dynamic balance is constantly changing. The initial and temporary denomination was Very Low Impact Calder's Mobiles as a tribute to the creator and master of the sculpture in motion and to the materials used... but the idea was to give levity to what we immediately associate with heaviness and to use natural materials, inspired by the Arte Sella exhibition ... initial failures and following improvements have come to the present: stones that dance in the void blown by the wind.
The work is dedicated to Ximo Cano, Catalan musician and composer, with whom I spent endless moments talking about the utility of the useless. Finally some special thanks to the Mayor and Administration of Bosisio Parini, as well as to his Kayak Circle, for the support and help in making this happen.
Last but not least a big thank to Luigi Dell’Oro for the logistic and technical support.

Distanza percorsa oggi: circa 27 km.
Distanza in linea d'aria dal punto di partenza a quello di arrivo: 4km.

Rose flower: sixth stage.
Mixed mountain-plain stage starting from Civate and arriving at Oggiono.
We cross the center of Civate, passing through the Church and the convent of S.Calocero, then taking decidedly uphill in the woods, towards the Abbey of S. Pietro al Monte.
From here, always on the path, you climb to the Marisa Consiglieri refuge and to Monte Cornizzolo, the highest point reached by the path of S.Agostino.
Staying on the ridge, you reach Mount Pesora and from here a steep descent, first on a path and then on an asphalted road, leads to the town of Pusiano, just above which we find the sanctuary of the Madonna della Neve.
We then descend to the shores of Lake Pusiano where the flat part of the stage now begins, which will lead us to skirt the lake to Bosisio Parini, and then bend decisively towards Annone.
A few glimpses of the lake of the same name and finally you reach Oggiono by walking along the path of the lake.
Unfortunately after Bosisio Parini the path is all on asphalt, even if bordered by greenery.
Distance traveled today: about 27 km.
Straight-line distance from the starting point to the arrival: 4km.
