Everest Base Camp Trek - City to EBC Full Trek
I hiked to Everest Base Camp from Dec 17-27th, 2017. It was the experience of a lifetime and also one of the hardest things I've ever done.
The total trip was $1,450 for guide, housing, 3 meals a day. I needed to pay extra for my own daily expenses which equalled about $200 USD equivalent in Rupees for the entire trip. Water ended up costing a lot of money as I only drank bottled.
The trek took 10 days from start to finish, but the 10th day was actually only the return flight back to Kathmandu. So really it was 9 trekking days. Most people prefer to do 13 or 15,16 day tours, I wanted a shorter time. I also skipped 1 extra acclimatization day.
The journey is tough, but all kinds of people can made it. A lot also quit or got sick with altitude sickness. It only affects 1 in 100 people, I was told, so hopefully you are not that person.

The Three Royal Cities Of Nepal Travel Guide (Nepal) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Kathmandu Valleyin Nepal.
With its three ancient Nepalese royal cities, Kathmandu Valley at the foot of the mighty Himalayas contains some of the most precious treasures in Asia along with a truly unique and mediaeval atmosphere. However, the beauty of this country and its historic buildings have for many years been out of the reach of most foreigners. And even today Nepal is full of mystique. Kathmandu became increasingly important during the reign of the Malla sovereigns who created one of the city’s main landmarks, Durbar Square. The Taleju Temple is located in the heart of the Durbar district. It is believed that in the tenth century King Gunakamadeva The Second founded the town. He moved his residence from PATAN to today´s Kathmandu. However, little of the architecture of that time has survived to the present day. The heart of Durbar Square, the richly decorated and spacious Hanuman Dhoka Palace, dates back much earlier. Not only because of its famous carved peacock windows but also due to its museum, Bhaktapur is the centre of traditional Nepalese wood carving. Compared to other royal cities in Patan and Kathmandu, Bhaktapur is the most original and is without a doubt the most historically authentic. The city owes its remarkable buildings and renovations to comprehensive donations from several countries. Only essential work and modernisation were undertaken and they eventually contributed to an improvement in the daily life of the local population. According to legend the founding of Patan, with a population of over a hundred thousand the second largest royal city in Nepal, dates back to Pre-Christian times. As opposed to the Malla cities of Khatmandu and Bhaktapur that were mainly influenced by the Hindu religion, Patan was for many years a major Buddhist city. It is believed that it was founded in the third century B.C. by the famous Buddhist emperor, Ashoka, who visited the town while on a pilgrimage from Northern India. Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Patana are the three legendary royal cities of Nepal that still possess a mysterious and ancient power and continue to be the sacred sanctuary of Himalayan art.

SwissTravelChannel is a YouTube channel of my holiday’s trips videos, taken all around the world since 2008. Some are for pure tourism and others are more of an adventure. The videos usually show the top best tourist attractions, the top things to do and top places to see. The goal is to inspire others on their next vacations. The videos can also be seen as a guide to have an idea of the main highlights and places to explore. I love to take pictures of the nature, traditions and different cultures, to search the must-see spots and show the essentials in my videos, for this reason I always try to create the perfect vacation. Traveling is more than a hobby for me, is a way of life.

EVEREST BASE CAMP (source Wikipedia):
Everest Base Camp is either of two base camps on opposite sides of Mount Everest (It could also be any Everest base camp on a given route, but this is less common since the two main routes became standardized). South Base Camp is in Nepal at an altitude of 5,364 metres (17,598 ft), and North Base Camp is in Tibet at 5,150 metres (16,900 ft). These camps are rudimentary campsites on Mount Everest that are used by mountain climbers during their ascent and descent. South Base Camp is used when climbing via the southeast ridge, while North Base Camp is used when climbing via the northeast ridge.
Supplies are shipped to the South Base Camp by sherpas or porters, and with the help of animals, usually yaks. The North Base Camp has vehicle access (at least in the summer months). Climbers typically rest at base camp for several days for acclimatization to reduce the risks and severity of altitude sickness.
KALA PATTHAR (source Wikipedia):
Kala Patthar, meaning 'black rock' in Nepali and Hindi, is a notable landmark located on the south ridge of Pumori in the Nepalese Himalayas above Gorakshep. Although not a proper mountain, with a prominence of only 10 m (33 ft), the ascent of Kala Patthar is very popular with trekkers in the region of Mount Everest since it provides the most accessible closeup view of Everest. Due to the structure of the Everest Massif, its high summit is blocked by Nuptse from much of the surrounding region. The views of Everest, Nuptse and Changtse are spectacular from Kala Patthar and there are glimpses of the northern flank and summit of Lhotse. The world's highest webcam, Mount Everest webcam, is located here.

3 Weeks in Nepal (Chengdu, Poon Hill solo hike, The LEADER Project in Kathmandu)
Finally a new video after a year!!
If I could describe my trip concisely, I would say it was filled with a lot of “Firsts” and was pretty outside of my comfort zone. Although it wasn’t all smooth sailing at the time, the trip was ultimately very transformative.
I chose the song “Let Me” because I think it’s a really sweet song, both lyrically and melodically. It captures the vibe of my entire trip well because I will always remember the trip fondly, as something sweet & warm & happy.
All the people I met during my trip (the Nepalese but also the Canadians and some Chinese and Americans) caused me to re-evaluate myself and my worldviews. I guess I started a tradition last year of taking a transformative trip at the end of each university year during which I somehow go through great personal growth, and therefore close a chapter of my life and start a new one. This trip carried on the tradition. Anyway, enough mushy stuff – that’s the context behind all the pretty Nepali mountains & temples :)
Here's another montage dedicated exclusively to The LEADER Project experience in Kathmandu, Nepal:
