Little Lakes Valley – Eastern Sierras – 4K
Here's a nice little drone flight up along the Little Lakes Valley in the Eastern Sierras. This trail is one of the easiest ways to see some spectacular high alpine scenery. The trailhead begins at around 9,500 feet, and quickly leads walkers to one lake after another.

Trout Fishing and Camping in Bishop Creek Canyon
Went up to Bishop Creek Canyon with Monica, David, and Don to do a little fishing and camping. The falls colors are just starting to turn in the Eastern Sierra and we were treated to some neat colors along the way. We camped out at Four Jeffery campground and fished North Lake, South Lake, and Lake Sabrina.

I highlight the short hike to Gilbert Lake from Onion Valley on the Kearsarge Pass Trail. I chat with backpackers and a hiker on the way.
John Muir Wilderness Sunrise at Little Lakes Valley
This is a video accompanied by pictures taken after a long hike up the Little Lakes Valley Trail-head in the Eastern Sierra in California at 10,000 feet altitude. It was raining during the hike down the trail. Despite the high altitude, rain and leaving the hotel at 4:15 AM, it was worth the beauty of the land.

Gold Lake 4x4 Camp Trail
Don't forget to check out Gold Lake 4x4 Campground.
Gold Lake is in Southern Plumas National Forest. This trail/road is accessed close to the entrance of Gold Lake Campground. Go through Sierraville and it take about 2 hours from Sac to get there. About half of the drive is through beautiful high country. It's well worth the drive!
I started this video right after where you would turn right to enter the campground, just continue straight ahead. You will then see the signs that are posted showing how to get to the 4x4 campground. The campground has maybe 10-12 sites, and they are first come first serve. Some are right on the lake, others are across the trail/road.
For for the most part, 4x4 will not be required to make it to the campground. I only used 4 low because my truck is stick, and didn't want to play with the gas/clutch all that much. That being said, there are at least 2 places where 4x4 should be used, no question. There is the little climb at the beginning and then there is a little, and I mean little, obstacle to get over when leaving the 4x4 campground back to the regular campground. Here is that obstacle from another video I took when leaving the obstacle is just some tree root sticking out of the ground.
This is almost a perfect setting for anyone who is a beginner wheeler. The trail/road in is easy, and I have seen people out there in stock rigs. If you want a little more adventure, you can keep driving the trail/road away from camp and there are plenty of trails and fire roads to keep anyone entertained!
The only downside to this campground is there is ZERO cell service, doesn't matter the provider. CB/Ham radio highly recommended! It is remote, but on weekends you will see people out there. So you will not be totally isolated if in a bind.
Lastly, there is a gate on each end of Gold Lake Highway that closes for the winter months. Check the website for Gold Lake Campground to make sure the gates are open.
I hope you get the chance to visit Gold Lake. On a hot summer day its one of my ideal places to be!

Fun Little Hike To Tungsten Peak - Bishop, California
This short hike to Tungsten Peak, in the Tungsten Hills, starts at a trailhead on a dirt road not far from the Mill Pond Recreation Area a short distance north of Bishop, California. There are many dirt roads in this area so you will have to scout around a bit to find the trailhead.
The scenic hike is 1.3 miles one way and climbs 1260 feet. There are good views of the Eastern Sierra Nevada, from the top, as well as the White Mountains and the Owens Gorge. The hike took us a total of about 1½ hours to complete.
White Mtns and Lundy Lake Camping
This is a trip I took July 27th to the White Mountains up above Owens Valley in California. We stayed for 2 nights and then drove 101 miles north to camp at Lundy Lake in the Eastern Sierras (Mono County). You can see more of the trip on the Methuselah Trail hike and Lundy to Lake Canyon hike videos.
Driving to Work in Bishop, California
My drive back to work at KIBS/KBOV in Bishop from a lunch break filmed almost exactly a month apart with quite a change in weather conditions. The drive starts a short distance south of West Line Street (SR 168) and continues for about a mile until I turn east onto Schober Lane past the Bishop Country Club and Brownstown Campground to Highway 395 where I turn into the radio station. Filmed with a GoPro Hero 2 set at medium wide setting (opening Main Street shot taken with a Canon HV40 HDV video tape camera).

Best Eastern Sierra Day Hike
One of my favorite Eastern Sierra day hikes - the Saddlebag Lake Loop. This is a remake to a previously released short film - filmed in August of 2017 with a Sony a6500 and GoPro. Enjoy!
Hiking in the Sierra Nevada: Horton Lakes Trail
This is another hike we’ve done in the Sierra Nevada region of California. The trailhead can be a little bumpy to get to but it’s definitely possible in a decent clearance SUV or Subaru. You just might have to dodge a few small boulders. You can also park and camp down from the actual trailhead and that will just add a little to your hike (less than a mile).
You can find this trail just off of highway 395 near the famous Buttermilk’s climbing area north of Bishop, CA.

Easter Sierra Backpacking and Fishing October 2019
Paul & Kat and the Camp Happy Trails Crew invited us to go back to Davis Lake in the Eastern Sierras. It was about as fun as anyone can have on the trail. Even JustinFromArizona tagged along! Check out the fish Paul smoked!
