Places to see in ( Rapallo - Italy ) Lungomare Vittorio Veneto
Salotto buono of the city, the Lungomare Vittorio Veneto welcomes the visitor who arrives in Rapallo opening a perfect and fascinating setting in front of his eyes: facing the sea, the necklace of palms, tall and soaring, is a green counterpoint to the row of style buildings that surround it and that host the great names of restaurants and Rapallo hospitality in the dehors.
At the center, the Kiosk of Music differentiates our promenade from all those of the coastal towns and brings to mind the period of the early twentieth century, when Rapallo was among the pioneers of the new tourism of the time, one of the most popular destinations for stays of European and overseas travelers.
At the eastern end, the sixteenth-century castle recalls the baggage of history and culture of the city, while on the opposite side the tourist port, modern and frequented by large yachts, offers an image of a sought-after location and always in step with the times: in only one glance are condensed the two souls of a complete town, which lives on the sea, but has also managed to grow going beyond the image of summer resort.
The shops, both those of ancient tradition and those recently opened, offer a varied and quality shopping, always attentive to the latest trends. Thanks to a climate that allows you to organize outdoor events throughout the year, the Lungomare is the scene of the most varied events: from concerts of light music to sporting events, initiatives related to Christmas, Carnival and Easter at summer festivals, the red cloak of the promenade overlooking the rocks always proves to be the ideal setting to welcome the public.
Today the promenade is a prestigious business card for the city and for the whole historical center that is immediately next to the row of houses overlooking the sea, those same houses that until the mid-nineteenth century, when the tourist fortunes of Rapallo, were lapped by the waves or rested directly on the beach where the fishermen's fishing boats were pulled in dry. One of these houses is the Casa Garibalda, with its characteristic white and gray stripes, the object of a careful restoration completed in recent years. It is one of the most significant palaces of the ancient Rapallo area, also classified as a national monument. In the façade the coat of arms of the admiral Biagio Assereto indicates its dating to the fourteenth century, while the porticoed houses behind it must be considered more ancient.

Places to see in ( Rapallo - Italy ) Chiosco della Musica
Right in the center of Lungomare Vittorio Veneto is Il Chiosco della Musica , a unique Art Nouveau building that has no similar in the area and that recalls the elegant pavilions in the gardens of celebrated European Belle Epoque spas. Inaugurated in 1929 (precisely Sunday, November 3), it was wanted by Rapallo emigrants in Chile who wanted to give their home town a suitable venue for band music concerts: the Rapallo families transplanted to South America opened a subscription that in three years was a complete success.
The project developed by geom. Luigi Devoto developed on a diameter of ten meters and a height of nine, with twelve columns that supported the dome. To embellish the pretty kiosk, the splendid frescoes inside the dome contributed by the prof. Giovanni Grifo, an artist who had previously been so much appreciated for The Four Seasons of Rapallo Cosmopolitan, on the facade of the Hotel Savoia and for other works.
The fresco is an authentic anthology of the most famous composers: in the dome are depicted Verdi, Rossini, Bellini, Boito, Beethoven, Auber, Meyerbeer, Palestrina, Mozart, Berlioz, Gluck, who have behind the characters of their major works; embedded in medallions on the strings: Bach, Spontini, Pergolesi, Cimarosa, Bizet, Ponchielli, Gounod, Donizetti, Monteverdi, Händel, Haydn and Puccini. A true temple of music that in the thirties offered a large program of concerts for the band but also entertainments of classical music for piano and strings. The audience took their seats on the chairs arranged around the kiosk. During the second war the building was used by the German army to deposit cement sacks for the construction of the anti-shattering wall and a bomb exploded nearby, splintering the columns. Even more serious, however, the damage caused to the frescoes by salt and moisture.
A recent restoration has intervened to protect the frescoes, and has also affected the arrangement and recovery of the surrounding Piazza Martiri della Libertà, repaved in stone and pedestrian. During these works the remains of the ancient pier came to light, which have been returned to the city thanks to a glass pyramid that makes them partially visible. In fact, the area where the Music Kiosk stands has always been called '' Marina delle barche '' and the buildings surrounding Piazza Martiri della Libertà are the houses of the old fishing village, whose arcades were formerly lapped by the waves.

Antico castello di Rapallo circondato dal mare
Video Vittorioinnocente - Rapallo (Genoa) is located on the Gulf of Tigullio set among the green coasts of the Promontory of Portofino and the rocky cliffs that extend to Zoagli. Thanks to this location saw the birth of tourism since the mid-nineteenth century. Rapallo is still under siege in every season by tourists for its mild climate, its reception and completeness of the services we can offer. The old town of medieval origins, offers the possibility of a global shopping in the numerous shops and cultural visits to interesting monuments. The spectacular promenade Vittorio Veneto, with its long row of palm trees and terraces of the rooms overlooking the street, is the parlor where the rendezvous. Do not underestimate the presence of a large marina. In the medieval period the village of Rapallo was enclosed by a wall: the only access was allowed through five doors. In the sea there is a castle, a fortress built close to the average small fisherman's beach. Built in 1551, following the frequent invasions of the pirates, now houses cultural events promoted by the civic or private organizations. Symbol of the city was declared a national monument. On 3 November 1929 was inaugurated the kiosk on the promenade Vittorio Veneto of Music. Launched by Rapallo emigrants in Latin America (especially in the area of Chile and Argentina) as a gift to the city of origin to accommodate band concerts. In the dome, painted by local artist John Griffin, depicts musicians and composers of the most famous Italian and foreign history.

RAPALLO under cloudy skies
A pretty, lively town on the Gulf of Tigullio, which has its charm also with dark clouds in the sky.A heavy storm with up to 9 meters high waves, has completely destroyed the port of Rapallo end of October 2018.
Meanwhile the port facility has been restored, but the cleanup along the Vittorio Emanuele promenade is still in progress.
