Bosphorus Tour by boat. Cruise between Asia and Europe | Istanbul Travel Guide
I started the Bosphorus tour in Üsküdar by taking a regular transport ferryboat. It was a beautiful, warm and windy day.
The Bosphorus is called in Turkish Istanbul Boğazı (Throat). This busy waterway, the Bosporus strait is connecting the Black Sea and the Marmara Sea. It is 19 miles (31 km) long and has a maximum width of 2.3 miles (3.7 km) and a minimum width of 2,450 feet (0.75 km). One side is Europe and on the other Asia. Both shores are lined with beautiful Yalıs. A Yalı is a Bosphorus seafront mansion. I cruised along the Asian shore of the Bosporus that day.
We stopped in
-Beylerbeyi
-Anadoluhisarı
-Kanlıca
-Çubuklu
There are many options to do a Bosphorus Tour. What i did was a cheap version of a cruise. You can do a private Bosphorus trip, a circle Bosphorus cruise or a full Bosphorus cruise. Another option is called Bosphorus by night tour, cruising and having a magical experience of the city by night.

THE PRINCES' ISLANDS TOUR Islands in Istanbul Turkey, Istanbul City Tour, Adore Tourism
There is no better way to escape the bustle of Istanbul for a day than with a visit to the idyllic Princes' Islands. Enjoy cool breezes and charming sights along the way to Büyükada, the largest Island in the chain. Famous for their mild climates, lush vegetation, and ornate Ottoman Houses, all the islands are unspoiled by traffic. Instead of cars there are carriages, called phaetons, which we will use to tour the island and its beautiful scenery studded with elegant mansions draped with purple bougainvillea, reminiscent of a more leisured and graceful era. We will enjoy our lunch at the best of one of the many excellent fresh fish restaurants that line the waterfront, gazing across the Asian shore of Istanbul, so close - though it feels worlds away.

Bosphorus Tour in Istanbul / Turkey
One of the worlds most strategic waterways, Bosphorus is the strait between the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara; it is an inundated valley that follows an irregular northeast-southwest course 32km (20 miles) long, 730-3300m (800-3600 yards) wide, 30-120m (100-395ft) deep.
Bosphorus comes from a Tracian word of unknown origin, interpreted in Greek as meaning “Ford of the Cow”, from the legend of Io, one of the many lovers of Zeus, who swam across the sea here as a cow chased and continuously disturbed by flies sent by Hera.
Known in Turkish as Bogazici (the Strait), it links the Black Sea with the Sea of Marmara and, with theDardanelles (in Canakkale), separates Europe from Asia. It is a former river valley which was drowned by the sea at the end of the Tertiary period. This is a very busy strait with many ships and oil tankers, as well as local fishing and passenger boats.
The current flows north to south; however, a strong subsurface countercurrent with numerous points and coves sets up swirls and eddies that make navigation dangerous to the inexperienced.
There are two suspension toll bridges on this Strait: The first one over the Bosphorus between Beylerbeyi and Ortaköy, opened in 1973, is called as Bogazici Bridge, 1074m (1175yards) long, 6 lanes, 165m (540ft) height of piers. The second one between Anadolu Hisari andRumeli Hisari, opened in 1988, is called as Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, 1090m (1192yd) long, 8 lanes, 65m from the water.
With the shores rising to heights up to 200m (650ft), lined with palaces, ruins, villages, and gardens, this is one of the most beautiful stretches of scenery in Turkey. The best way of seeing the Bosphorus in all its beauty is to take a trip on one of the coastal boats, in this way you can also admire many of the old Ottoman wooden houses (called as Yali in Turkish). You can also stay in some of the best hotels or eat in some of the best restaurants along its shores during your stay in this magnificent city.
Some of the interesting palaces, buildings or neighborhoods on the Bosphorus are: Galata tower, Dolmabahce Palace, Ciragan Palace,Yildiz Palace, Besiktas, Ortaköy, Arnavutköy, Bebek, Rumeli Fortress, Tarabya, Yeniköy, Istinye, Sariyer, Uskudar (Scutari), Kanlica, Beykoz,Anatolian Fortress, Beylerbeyi Palace and Kuleli Military High school.

As I say in the video, there are literally hundreds of places to go out in Istanbul, between the mega clubs of Ortakoy to the rooftop bars of Taksim and Galata.
If you have other nightlife suggestions for Istanbul, please leave them in the comments below and I will add them to the full guide on my travel blog - Tourist2Townie.com.

Bosphorus Cruise in Istanbul, Turkey
No visit to Istanbul is complete without taking a Bosphorus cruise because it features so many interesting sights. The 20 mile long strait, which joins the Sea of Marmara to the south with the Black Sea to the north, is a key waterway in Istanbul. We saw a lot of important landmarks including palaces, mosques, and schools.

Istanbul Travel Guide - Turkey Charming Experience
Istanbul Travel Guide - Turkey Charming Experience
Istanbul (İstanbul) is Turkey's most populous city as well as its cultural and financial hub. Located on both sides of the Bosphorus, the narrow strait between the Black Sea and the Marmara Sea, Istanbul bridges Asia and Europe both physically and culturally. Istanbul's population is estimated to be between 12 and 19 million people, making it also one of the largest cities in Europe and the world.
Istanbul is divided in three by the north-south Bosphorus Strait (Istanbul Bogazi), the dividing line between Europe and Asia, the estuary of the Golden Horn (Haliç) bisecting the western part and the Sea of Marmara (Marmara Denizi) forming a boundary to the south. Most sights are concentrated in the old city on the peninsula of Sultanahmet, to the west of the Bosphorus between the Horn and the Sea. Across the Horn to the north are Galata, Beyoğlu and Taksim, the heart of modern Istanbul, while Kadıköy is the major district on the comparatively less-visited Anatolian side of the city. The Black Sea forms the northern boundary of Istanbul.
Expanding the ancient Roman colony of Byzantium by the order of the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great, the imperial city of Constantinople was for nearly a thousand years the last remaining outpost of the Roman (later termed Eastern Roman or Byzantine) Empire. It was finally conquered by the Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II on 29 May 1453, an event sometimes used to mark the end of the Middle Ages. It was the nerve centre for military campaigns that were to enlarge the Ottoman Empire dramatically. By the mid 1500s, Istanbul, with a population of almost half a million, was a major cultural, political, and commercial centre. Ottoman rule continued until it was defeated in WWI and Istanbul was occupied by the allies. When the Republic of Turkey was born in 1923 after the War of Independence, Kemal Atatürk moved its capital to the city of Ankara. However, Istanbul has continued to expand dramatically; today its population is approximately 14 million and increases at an estimated 400,000 immigrants per year. Industry has expanded even as tourism has grown.
Istanbul has a temperate oceanic climate which is influenced by a continental climate, with hot and humid summers and cold, wet and occasionally snowy winters. There is an extensive bus system, including city-run and private buses, as well as one high-speed Metrobüs line; an extensive light rail system including six Metro (underground) lines, four Tramvays (aboveground), three Fünikülers (ascending/descending), two mini-lines called Teleferik, and the Marmaray (underwater) lines; and the ferries which travel the Bosphorus. Buying an Istanbulkart is a good idea if you are in Istanbul for more than a day or two, and intend to use public transport. Basically it pays itself if you take more than 4 times of bus, metro, ferry etc.
With its long history at the center of empires, Istanbul offers a wealth of historic and religious places to take in. The bulk of these ancient monuments, dating back to Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman periods, including the Hagia Sophia, Topkapı Palace, Sultanahmet Mosque (Blue Mosque), and Basilica Cistern are located around Sultanahmet Square, while some others are dispersed throughout the peninsula of old city, such as Church of St Savior in Chora (Kariye Müzesi), entire inside of which is covered by mindblowing frescoes and mosaics. An impressive section of mostly intact Theodosian walls, which mark the full length of western boundary of the peninsula.

Istanbul In A Day with Bosphorus Cruise, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque & Basilica Cistern
See all of Istanbul in one day (or 1 min 49 secs) on this small group full day tour, with an expert local guide to show you the best secret rooftops and to teach you the history behind Istanbul's top attractions. Check out Walks of Italy's 'Istanbul In A Day' tour here:
Your tour starts at the Blue Mosque, Istanbul where you meet your expert local tour guide. They'll lead you inside for a guided tour, where they'll point out the stunning tile work, columns and stained glass windows of the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, explaining how locals came to refer to it as the Blue Mosque.
Next up is a Hagia Sophia tour. With pre-reserved tickets you'll skip long lines to get straight inside this beautiful structure. Your Istanbul tour guide will explain to you how how the building was once a church, then a mosque and is now the official Hagia Sophia Museum, also know as the Aya Sofya; demonstrating the power the rulers of the Ottoman Empire held.
Next stop is the Basilica Cistern where you'll once again have privileged access. Your local Istanbul guide will lead you through a special entrance here, past long lines for Basilica Cistern tickets, and straight into its cool, dark interior. Here you'll learn about Constantinople in the time of the Romans and spot eerie underwater Medusa heads (the meaning of which your tour guide will make clear).
You'll take a break for lunch next (included in the price) at an authentic Turkish restaurant, where you'll chow down on kebab meats, salads and local desserts. Then it's on to the Grand Bazaar, Istanbul.
Traveling with a Grand Bazaar guide has its perks, as you'll quickly learn. They'll teach you how to navigate the 61 streets of the bazaar and point out the different shopping areas - giving you tips on bartering with locals. We'll take a special detour after the bazaar to a secret rooftop view, known only to locals, then it's on to the Spice Bazaar for a special pre-organised experience of the local produce; where you can touch, taste and smell teas and spices without the pressure to buy (a rarity in Istanbul's Spice Bazaar!)
The next activity is a Bosphorus cruise by private boat. Traveling the distance between Europe and Asia, your guide will point out top sights like the Bosphorus Bridge, Dolmabahce Palace and countless mosques. With only 30 people MAXIMUM on your boat and an expert Istanbul guide on hand, you'll get so much more from your Bosphorus cruise.
You'll disembark on the other side of the Bosphorus Bridge and walk the beautiful streets of the area up to the Galata Tower. Lines here are long and impossible to skip so we won't go inside, opting instead for yet another of the best rooftops in Istanbul, for stunning views over the Bosphorus and all the city.
This Istanbul in a day tour showcases the top attractions of Istanbul in just one day; with small groups and authentic local Istanbul guides to ensure that you get the most from every precious second.
