Missouri's Underground Marvel - A Trip Through Marvel Cave
Visiting Branson, Missouri a must stop is Marvel Cave at Silver Dollar City. While most feel as though it s one of the attractions of the park, the park was in fact a product of the cave itself, which was discovered far before the entertainment was brought to Branson through the theme park. Hiking some 700 steps downward into a giant cathedral room tall enough to fit the Statue of Liberty, the cave is one of the most impressive Marvels of Missouri!

The cave offers two types of tours. The Traditional Cave Tour is a one-hour guided tour through a half mile of lighted passageway. Throughout the tour, geological and historical information is explained. The Lantern Light Tour is a one and a half-hour guided tour through a little over a half mile of unlit passageway. A narrow gauge funicular railway is employed to take visitors from the far end of the cave back to surface level.

Marvel Cave - Missouri Caves Project
Like other show caves in Missouri, Marvel Cave in Branson comes with its own fascinating history -- but few caves actually have their history come to life around them. Marvel Cave is at the heart of Silver Dollar City, a historical theme park built around the pioneering people in Branson circa 1869 (the first recorded expedition into the cave).

Celebration City was a theme park located in Branson, Missouri, United States. It was themed after America in the 20th century, with areas based on Route 66, Small-town America in the 1900s, and a beachside boardwalk in the 1920s. As a sister park to Herschend Family Entertainment's Silver Dollar City theme park located nearby,

Silver Dollar City Ozarks Theme Park in Branson Missouri 9-26-1979
These are some 35 mm Kodak Kodachrome color slides my father, Lester W Les Pierce (1928-2004) took of a trip he took my mother, Lenora Catherine (Bolander) Pierce (1931-2009), on to Silver Dollar City outside of Branson, MO. This popular amusement park has attractions depicting an Ozarks theme and is best enjoyed when the leaves are changing colors in October. From his ledger it states a mule-powered cane press, a boat ride by Echo Rock, an outhouse, hillbilly store, arm in a whirlpool, a tree house, a man operating a steam powered saw, diving bell in lake, steam tractor, the B.V.D. Crazy Show, train ride, train robbery by a mountain hillbilly, city from across the lake, Mine ride, Zeke's Ozark Animals duet singers, brass band, Brown Candy Factory, craftsmen working a steam powered wood lathe, the Great Wheel wood lathe, and Dad taking a break on top of his functional purchase.
Silver Dollar City [4K] - USA 2016 Day 6
FULL STORY -
Silver Dollar City is one of those parks that make you re-evaluate what goes into making a great theme park. Originally built as a sideline attraction to the incredible Marvel Cave which sits hundreds of feet below and still attracts crowds for the daily tours underground, Silver Dollar City today hosts world leading rollercoasters such as Outlaw Run from RMC, beside craftsmen and women exhibiting traditional crafts.
I travelled with the European Coaster Club on their North America 6 trip 4th-18th June 2016, on a coach travelling from Chicago, Illinois to Atlanta, Georgia and taking in 14 theme parks and over 100 rollercoasters on the way. This video series documents a fortnight of theme park fun, and visiting some of the best rides currently operating in the USA including Goliath, the new RMC, and Raging Bull, the B&M Hyper Coaster at Six Flags Great America; Monster, the just-opened Gerstlauer Infinity Coaster at Adventureland; Prowler, the amazing GCI woodie at Worlds of Fun; Outlaw Run, another new RMC, at Silver Dollar City; the new Virtual Reality version of Ninja at Six Flags St Louis; Thunderbird, Voyage, Legend and Raven at Holiday World; Storm Chaser at Kentucky Kingdom, one of the best new RMCs yet least talked about; the incredible Banshee, The Beast and Diamondback at Kings Island; Fury 325 and Intimidator at Carowinds - why have one Bolliger and Mabillard Hyper Coaster when you can have two?; the brand-new Lightning Rod RMC at Dollywood; along with all the usual Batman B&M Inverted clones, Vekoma Boomerangs, classic woodies, Arrow mine trains and the rest. Come on along for the ride!

Places to see in ( Branson - USA )
Places to see in ( Branson - USA )
Branson is an Ozark town in southwest Missouri known as a family vacation destination. Its 76 Country Boulevard is famously lined with theaters, which once hosted mostly country music performers but today present diverse entertainment. Also along the strip are the Marvel Cave, the Wild West-style Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede Dinner Attraction and Silver Dollar City, an 1800s-themed amusement park with live music.
Branson has long been a popular destination for vacationers from Missouri and neighboring areas. The collection of entertainment theaters along 76 Country Boulevard (and to a lesser extent along Shepherd of the Hills Expressway), including Dolly Parton's Stampede, has increased Branson's popularity as a tourist destination. Branson now draws visitors from all regions of the country and even internationally.
Besides the numerous entertainment theaters for which Branson is famous, other local attractions include Hollywood Wax Museum Branson, Silver Dollar City, White Water, Mount Pleasant Winery, Curling Vine Winery, Ride the Ducks, Dolly Parton's Stampede, ziplines, cave tours, go-karts, mini golf, and more. Ripley's Odditorium is housed in a building that has been made to look as if it is cracked wide open by an earthquake or other disaster, while the Titanic Museum is a half-scale replica of the famous ship and iceberg.
Branson Landing opened in the summer of 2006 on the Lake Taneycomo waterfront in downtown Branson. The lakefront project includes retail space with Bass Pro Shops and Belk as anchors in an outdoor shopping mall of stores and restaurants. It also features a scenic boardwalk along the lakefront with the Branson Landing Fountains at the heart of the property as well as a Hilton Hotel. Branson Landing has been known to host summer concerts and other special events throughout the year. The convention center, situated between Branson Landing and Historic Downtown Branson, opened September 7, 2007. The Branson Scenic Railway is located in the old depot, across from Branson Landing.
Hokey Branson is a cheerfully shameless tourist resort. The main attractions are the more than 50 theaters hosting 100-plus country music, magic and comedy shows. The neon-lit '76 Strip' (Hwy 76) packs in miles of motels, restaurants, wax museums, shopping malls, fun parks and theaters. Drive just a few minutes out of town, however, and you'll find yourself in pristine Ozark wilderness.

Fantastic Caverns - America's Only Ride Thru Cave!
A visit to Fantastic Caverns located in Springfield, Missouri. By the end of the tour it was storming outside, be sure to watch until the end to see everyone get soaked lol. Thanks for watching!
From Wikipedia:
Fantastic Caverns is a show cave located in Springfield, Missouri. Fantastic Caverns is the only cave in North America to offer a completely ride-through tour, which lasts 55 minutes and is held in a Jeep-drawn tram. The trams drive along the path left behind by an ancient underground river.
The cavern was discovered by John Knox and his hunting dog in 1862. Knox did not want the cave to be exploited by the Union or Confederate governments as a possible source of saltpeter, so he kept the cave's existence quiet until 1867. Knox put an advertisement in the Springfield paper for someone to explore the cave, and it was first explored on February 14, 1867. On February 27, almost two weeks later, the Springfield Women's Athletic Club explored the cave. These twelve ladies are considered the first explorers of the cave, since they carved their names into the rock as graffiti and are mentioned in an article published in the Springfield Tri-Weekly Patriot newspaper. The cave was renamed Fantastic Caverns in the 1950s.
The caverns were used as a speakeasy during the Prohibition years and hosted music concerts during the 1950s and 1960s. The shows were broadcast on KGBX radio in the 1970s.
The temperature inside Fantastic Caverns is about 60 °F (15 °C) year-round. In the winter and fall, billboards advertise that the cave is a warm 60 degrees, while in the summer and spring, billboards advertise the caverns to be a cool 60 degrees. The cave hosts over 100,000 visitors a year.
Fantastic Caverns is 6 miles from Jefferson Avenue 562-foot Footbridge and near Ritter Springs Park.

Situated at the site of one of the Ozarks' oldest attractions, Marvel Cave, Silver Dollar City figuratively sprang from the ground. The cave, which has been designated a National Natural Landmark by the U.S. Department of the Interior, is important not only because of its subterranean features but also because of its role in the origins of Silver Dollar City.
The first oral record of Marvel Cave comes from the Osage Nation, while the first written record dates from an 1869 expedition. Henry T. Blow of St. Louis, a lead mining magnate, explored the cave with six miners. They found no lead before returning to St. Louis, but convinced that the flat ceiling of one room was composed of marble, they originally named the cave Marble Cave,More Info

Silver Dollar City is Branson’s centerpiece attraction...a stunningly beautiful, multi-award-winning theme park! Repeatedly recognized for excellence on an international scale, this 1880s-style theme park features more than 40 thrilling rides and attractions, ongoing live shows and special performance concerts, 100 resident demonstrating craftsmen sharing America’s heritage crafts, a wide variety of award-winning foods, and 60 shops carrying everything from jewelry to toys. It’s got the thrills of an amusement park while enjoying gorgeous topography that perfectly blends careful landscaping with nature’s own beauty. It’s one of those rare theme parks where you can enjoy rides and music shows non-stop, or simply stroll from shop to shop, from one yummy treat to the next, stopping along your way to enjoy the fascinating craftsmen demonstrating their special talents and unique art forms. And the charming yesteryear theme is carried throughout the park; employees all dress in 1880s attire, and special touches are everywhere, creating the sense of stepping back to a simpler time...a time free of all those electronic devices that rule our lives, and filled with amazing sights, tastes, and sounds that’ll have you stashing the cell phone and immersing yourself in this magically memorable moment in time!
Silver Dollar City artfully structures its entire year into several amazing festivals and special events, with many bringing out new foods to try and interesting gift items to purchase! They host a Bluegrass & BBQ Festival, a Star-Spangled Summer, Moonlight Madness, a Southern Gospel Picnic, the National Crafts & Cowboy Festival, and An Old Time Christmas. And, all new in for April in 2017, the phenomenal Festival of Wonder! This new and exciting festival showcases “fantastical acts of curiosity,” that include William Close & The Earth Harp Collective, the world’s longest playable stringed instrument - it stretches the entire length of Red Gold Heritage Hall. You may remember William Close when he won a slot as a finalist on the popular television show, America’s Got Talent! You’ll also enjoy the spectacular footwork and acrobatic artistry of the seven Flamenco Kings, speed painter Dan Dunn, Balancing Wonders, and so much more in this creative collection of larger-than-life performances! In addition to mind-blowing entertainment, you’ll find fantastic new foods that range from gourmet grilled cheese and curious kabobs, to flatbread creations and fabulous fry breads. For long-time Silver Dollar City fans, you’ve become accustomed to something new at this enchanting park every year, but this brilliant new festival may just take the cake when it comes to magnificently magical events!
For die-hard rowdy riding fanatics, Silver Dollar City doesn’t disappoint! From the long-time, but still a fan favorite, roller coaster known as Thunderation, to the mind-blowing, upside down, inside out, and all around radical blast of a roller-coaster ride known as Outlaw Run, the action knows no end for even the most jaded thrill junkie! Other fabulous thrills are provided by Powderkeg, the coaster than goes from 0 to 53mph in 2.8 seconds, and WildFire, the high-flying, multi-looping, cobra-rolling coaster that travels at speeds up to 66 mph! And, of course, there’s even more...but not everyone wants amped up excitement, so Silver Dollar City also has kinder and gentler thrills for the young and the young-at-heart, including the Frisco Sing-Along Steam Train, the Royal Tea Party ride, and many more.
There are several different areas of Silver Dollar City...something to please every member of the family, including Fireman’s Landing, McHaffie's Homestead, Half Dollar Holler, and the list goes on. There are resident live shows and special concert performances that take place throughout the park, from the Red Gold Heritage Hall to the Boatworks Theater and beyond, there’s always music in Silver Dollar City! Fantastic food can be found everywhere...from Aunt Mollie’s to the Lucky Silver Mine to lots of little spots here and there throughout the park, there’s certainly no shortage of marvelous meals to tasty treats! And then there’s the foundation of the legendary theme park, its incomparable craftsmen! You can see true artists of their craft demonstrating everything from glass-blowing and wood-carving to pottery-making and culinary arts. And, of course, we can’t forget how it all began...with a cave. Back in 1950, the Herschend Family purchased Marvel Cave and took people on tours of the cave - it was the entire attraction until they decided to put up a few buildings near its entrance, creating an old-style town to entertain people while they waited their turn to tour the beautiful cave. Soon, people loved what was going on above ground as much as they did what was going on below, and the old-style town grew into the 1880s-style theme park known as Silver Dollar City that we all know and love today!
