HONOLULU- The state’s monthly test of the statewide outdoor warning siren system, coordinated with the test of the live audio broadcast segment of the Emergency Alert System, is scheduled for Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 11:45 a.m.
The siren test is a steady one minute tone on all sirens. The warning sirens are used to alert the public to any emergency that may pose a threat to life or property. The sound of the sirens is a cue for residents to turn on a radio or television for information and instruction for an impending emergency. Besides natural hazards, the Emergency Alert System could be used for terrorist incidents or acts of war.
Tests of the outdoor warning sirens and the Emergency Alert System are conducted simultaneously, normally on the first working day of the month, in cooperation with Hawaii’s broadcast industry. Emergency management and disaster preparedness information is located in the front section of telephone directories in all counties.
This I-Force replaced a Thunderbolt 1000T sometime between July-August 2011. It has the control box with the Federal Signal logo on it.
This has been recorded before on 8-1-2012.
You can hear a Thunderbolt 1000T at Hanauma Bay about 1.38 mile away throughout parts of the video.

Thunderbolt Waialae Beach Park 5-24-2012
HONOLULU- The City Department of Emergency Management in conjunction with Hawaii State Civil Defense tested an outdoor warning siren on Thursday, May 24, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. (It was tested at about 8:40 a.m. and concluded at about 9:00 a.m.) The siren is located at: Waialae Beach Park.
The test is being conducted to ensure that the siren is operating at full power and providing optimal audible range.
Residents and businesses in the surrounding communities may hear the steady tone during the test and should not be alarmed.
Hawaii State Civil Defense funds the purchase and installation of these sirens. Once they are installed, they are released to the City for monthly testing and emergency activation.

Notice how eerily similar it sounds compared to the former Thunderbolt at Maunalua Bay Beach Park? Harold Buckle mentioned that horn was moved here. He is the man pressing the buttons on the control box in this video.

Places to see in ( Oahu - USA ) Honolulu
Honolulu, on the island of Oahu’s south shore, is capital of Hawaii and gateway to the U.S. island chain. The Waikiki neighborhood is its center for dining, nightlife and shopping, famed for its iconic crescent beach backed by palms and high-rise hotels, with volcanic Diamond Head crater looming in the distance. Sites relating to the World War II attack on Pearl Harbor include the USS Arizona Memorial.
If Oahu is the heart of Hawaii, then Honolulu is its racing pulse. In this cosmopolitan capital city, you’ll find everything from historic landmarks to fine dining to world-class shopping. Home to the majority of Oahu’s population, Honolulu stretches across the southeastern shores of the island, from Pearl Harbor to Makapuu Point, encompassing world-famous Waikiki Beach along the way.
Here in Honolulu, away from the crowded haunts of Waikiki, you get to shake hands with the real Hawaii. A boisterous Polynesian capital, Honolulu delivers an island-style mixed plate of experiences. Eat your way through the pan-Asian alleys of Chinatown, where 19th-century whalers once brawled and immigrant traders thrived. Gaze out to sea atop the landmark Aloha Tower, then sashay past Victorian-era brick buildings, including the USA’s only royal palace. Browse at the world's largest open-air shopping center at Ala Moana, then poke your nose into the city's impressive art museums.
Ocean breezes rustle palm trees along the harborfront, while in the cool, mist-shrouded Koʻolau Range, forested hiking trails offer postcard city views. At sunset, cool off with an amble around Magic Island or splash in the ocean at Ala Moana Beach. After dark, migrate to Chinatown’s edgy art and nightlife scene.

HONOLULU- The State’s monthly test of the Statewide Outdoor Warning Siren System, coordinated with the test of the Live Audio Broadcast segment of the Emergency Alert System, is scheduled for MONDAY, APRIL 2, 2018 at 11:45 a.m.
The warning sirens are used to alert the public to emergencies. During this monthly test, all warning sirens will sound a one-minute Attention Alert Signal (Steady Tone). There will be no exercise or drill accompanying the test.
The Attention Alert Signal informs residents to turn on a radio or television for information and instruction for an impending emergency, or if in a coastal inundation area, evacuate to higher ground.
The outdoor warning sirens are one part of a three-component emergency notification system. A simultaneous test of the Emergency Alert System is conducted with the siren system, in cooperation with Hawaii’s broadcast industry. In the event of a real emergency, warning sirens and Emergency Alert Broadcasts would be joined by alerts via the Wireless Emergency Alert system, which delivers sound-and-text warnings to mobile telephones and compatible devices.

Maunalua-Makapu'u Scenic Byway Video
Take a virtual drive along one of Hawaii's official scenic byways: Kalanianaole Highway from Hawaii Kai Drive to Makai Pier. The application required a point-of-view video of the route, so the camera was fixed on the dashboard. In reality, your head is constantly turning to take in all the breathtaking sights on this truly scenic route. For a slideshow of the scenic wonders along the route, see Maunalua-Makapu'u Scenic Byway Pics.
Hawaii Kai Neighborhood Board initiated and submitted the nomination application. The route achieved designated in Dec. 2013 under sponsorship of Ka Iwi Coalition, the group that gave us the successful Save Sandy Beach initiative in the late 80s.
Driving music is from The Instrumental World of Makana. His slack key guitar playing is great. Buy this album or some of his others to enjoy Makana's vocal talent as well.

The majority of visitors to Hawaii enter through this city, meaning this is definitely not the place to go for a get-away-from-it-all Hawaiian vacation - It is as fast-paced and dynamic as any city, with all its problems such as heavy traffic, drugs, crime, and homelessness. But Honolulu still has the charm of the Islands' laid-back atmosphere and culture. Honolulu extends inland from the southeast shore of Oahu, east of Pearl Harbor to Makapu'u Point, and incorporates many neighborhoods and districts. You'll most often hear people refer to these districts by name -- Waikiki, Manoa, Kahala, Hawaii Kai and so on -- as though they're not part of the same city. Technically, they are. In fact, the municipal government of Honolulu covers the entire island of Oahu, including its outlying suburbs.
Naturally, when most visitors think of beaches here, they think of the famous Waikiki Beach. As the tourist center of the Hawaiian Islands, this white sand beach, framed by hotels and Diamond Head as a backdrop, is easily the most crowded. Waikiki is popular with a wide crowd, as it's a excellent place for swimming, sunbathers, catamaran and outrigger canoes, as well as a great spot for beginner surfers and body boarders (and there are plenty of surf schools set up in Waikiki for lessons). What's remarkable is that even in Waikiki you can find a fairly quiet beach; it's just a matter of knowing where to look.
But if you really need to get away from the crowds, there are plenty of other beaches. Just to the west, near Downtown, is Ala Moana Park, a green space with plenty of trees and grass as well as an nice sandy beach that's popular with the locals and is perfect for families or a calmer swim.
The area surrounding Makapu'u Point in Eastern Honolulu has several excellent beaches, the most popular being Hanauma Bay, which is set in the crater of an extinct volcano, now open to the sea and filled with a coral reef. This is not the place for a good swim and certainly not the spot for surfing, but the calm water and abundance of marine life makes it excellent for snorkeling and scuba diving. Even if you don't get in the water, the scenery makes it a great place to sunbathe or picnic, although you may find parking to be an issue.
Just near Hanauma Bay is the Halona Beach Cove, known as the Peering Place. It is a small, rocky cove that has good swimming with the surf is calm, but no lifeguards here means it's at your own risk. Nearby Sandy Beach does have lifeguards, and has been popular with surfers and bodyboarders for decades. On a calm day, it can be good for a fun day of swimming. Makapu'u Beach, just a little further up the road, is quite scenic. It tends to have very large waves, meaning it many not be the best place to swim but a fantastic place to surf.
