Seeing Meguro River Cherry Blossom in Tokyo for the First Time!
A chill day in Tokyo, Japan! I visit Meguro River and explore Jiyugaoka before heading to Meguro River and seeing the beautiful cherry blossoms for the first time! Sakura festival season is here and the Meguro river is one of the most popular places in Japan to view the beautiful cherry blossoms. It has been a dream of mine to see this and personally even though the place gets crowded, it's worth it!

Is Meguro River the Best Hanami Spot in Tokyo?
Meguro River is a popular spot to watch the sakura, but is it the best hanami spot in Tokyo?
Meguro River is located near Naka-Meguro Station. It flows along the Meguro and Gotanda areas. The primary hanami spots are closer to Naka-Meguro station however.
At night time, from around 5:00 PM, lights get turned on to illuminate the river and the cherry blossoms. These lights turn off around 9:00 PM.
Sakura are usually at their peak in Tokyo in the last few days of March and the beginning of April. The petals begin to fall after, creating another beautiful scene.

Meguro River (目黒川, megurogawa) has about 830 Sakura on the riverside. From the Ikejiriohashi to Meguro which is about 3.2km becomes Sakura Promenade. Because it is great location for People live in Tokyo and Yokohama, many people have Hanami party here at night especially on Friday night after they finish their work. It is one of the famous Hanami spot in Tokyo.
How To Get To Meguro River From Meguro Station

Pink petals on the river's surface came from cherry blossoms. We call it Hanaikada (flower boat). Depending on the tides of Tokyo Bay, the petals go upstream or downstream.
