We start our tour of Lviv, Ukraine at the Theatre of Opera and Ballet (or Lviv Opera for short) and head down the wide pedestrianised section of Svobody Avenue. Along the way we pass the statue of Taras Shevchenko, the monument to Adam Mickiewicz and finally the King Danylo Halytskyi Statue.
Be sure to stick around until the end of the video to catch an amazing rendition of the Game of Thrones theme courtesy of Lviv's own: Progressive Quartet. In case you were wondering I stuck around for their entire set and gave a small donation. Here's their Facebook page if you're interested: facebook.com/progressive.quartet
Filmed on a Sony FDR-AX700 with a Zhiyun Crane 2 and a Rode Videomicro.
Walking in LVIV / Ukraine ????????- 4K 60fps (UHD)
Lviv (Polish: Lwów) is a city in western Ukraine is located around 1 hour by car from the border with Poland. The city was mostly Polish until WWII. After 1945 most of the Polish population was expelled to territories gained from Germany like Wrocław. Today Lviv is a cultural center of Ukraine with a nice old town which we visit on this walk.
We start our walk at the Dormition Church and Korniakt Tower from where we walk to the main square (Rynek). We see several churches and head out of the centre to some nearby parks and monuments.
One of the main sights of Lviv is the Opera House before we head back to the old town with the many small streets. On this summer evening the many restaurants in the old town are busy. We end the walk back on Rynek, the main square.

Gologory is a village founded in 1099 in Zolochiv district of Lviv region in Ukraine. It's population today is 658 people. Formerly it was a town called Duklya. In the village, the river Gnyla Lypa (Rotten Linden) falls into the Zolota Lipa (Golden Linden,) which then flows into the Dnister River and into the Black Sea. It's famous for its history, Orthodox and Catholic (Kościół ) churches, Jewish Synagogue and cemetery. There are many ancient tombstones as well as a monument to St. Mark, which stands on top of the hill in place of burial of Pasha of Batu Khan (a Mongol Khanate ruler and founder of the Golden Horde, a division of the Mongol Empire. Batu was a son of Jochi and grandson of Genghis Khan.,) as a symbol of victory of the battle with Tatar invaders (1442). Gologory obtained Magdeburg rights - a set of town privileges first developed by Otto I, Holy Roman Emperor (936–973) which regulated the degree of internal autonomy within cities and villages, granted by the local ruler. in the 13th and 14th centuries, Magdeburg rights were granted to more than a hundred cities, in Central Europe. In these lands, they were mostly known as the German or Teutonic law. This role remained until the old Germanic laws were successively replaced with the Roman law under the influence of the Imperial Chamber Court a judicial institution in the Holy Roman Empire. Thus, being a free city it was able to trade and develop culturally.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain

SUMMARY
=======
Lviv (Ukrainian: Львів [lʲwiu̯] (listen); Old East Slavic: Львіхород; Polish: Lwów [lvuf] (listen); Russian: Львов, romanized: Lvov [lʲvof]; German: Lemberg; Latin: Leopolis; see also other names) is the largest city in western Ukraine and the seventh-largest city in the country overall, with a population of 724,713 as of January 2019. Lviv is one of the main cultural centres of Ukraine.
Named in honour of Leo, the eldest son of Daniel, King of Ruthenia, it was the capital of the Kingdom of Galicia–Volhynia (also called the Kingdom of Ruthenia) from 1272 to 1349, when it was conquered by King Casimir III the Great who then became known as the King of Poland and Ruthenia. From 1434, it was the regional capital of the Ruthenian Voivodeship in the Kingdom of Poland. In 1772, after the First Partition of Poland, the city became the capital of the Habsburg Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria. In 1918, for a short time, it was the capital of the West Ukrainian People's Republic. Between the wars, the city was the centre of the Lwów Voivodeship in the Second Polish Republic.
After the German-Soviet invasion of Poland in 1939, Lviv became part of the Soviet Union, and in 1944–46 there was a population exchange between Poland and Soviet Ukraine. In 1991, it became part of the independent nation of Ukraine.
Administratively, Lviv serves as the administrative centre of Lviv Oblast and has the status of city of oblast significance.
Lviv was the centre of the historical regions of Red Ruthenia and Galicia. The historical heart of the city, with its old buildings and cobblestone streets, survived Soviet and German occupations during World War II largely unscathed. The city has many industries and institutions of higher education such as Lviv University and Lviv Polytechnic. Lviv is also the home of many cultural institutions, including a philharmonic orchestra and the Lviv Theatre of Opera and Ballet. The histori ...

Острог: в тіні історії | Ostroh: in the shadow of history

Ostrog: in the shadow of history - this is a completely new look at the present-day condition of the ancient city, which has undergone a flowering, decay and has been appearing from the ashes for the second decade. The film will try to show behind the scenes of urban processes, their complexity and ambiguity. Tell us what you do not notice on the old streets with the naked eye, but it's worth being heard.
