Legendary weapons designer Mikhail Kalashnikov has received the country's highest state award - the Hero of Russia Gold Star.
President Dmitry Medvedev presented the honor to Kalashnikov in a ceremony at the Kremlin on his 90th birthday.
What you made, already way long ago, is a brilliant example of how it was possible, by using only one's own resources, to create a brilliant weapon model, that would be used both at home and in many countries abroad for decades, Medvedev said in his speech.

The country's most famous weapons designer, Mikhail Kalashnikov, was decorated with the country's highest honor.
After being decorated with a Hero of Russia Gold Star by the President, Kalashnikov presented his latest book and a medal to the Russian leader.
In his speech, Medvedev described 'Kalashnikov' as: one of the most known words from the Russian lexicon and one of the known definitions of our current life.
I believe the fact that we're celebrating your glorious 90th anniversary is an example for so many people of how a man who joined the state service and the military service at a very early age, has lived all his life creating the country's defense power, designing wonderful models of equipment and helping young inventors, remaining in the ranks, Medvedev said.
Medvedev also wished Kalashnikov many more years of health and prosperity.
Kalashnikov's famous AK-47 machine gun, designed in 1947, is the defense industry standard in many places around the world.
Russia's Prime Minister Vladimir Putin also extended greetings to the designer.
Crew members of the International Space Station also sent their best wishes to Kalashnikov.

2. President Dmitry Medvedev, speaking Russian:
The word 'Kalashnikov' is indeed one of the most known from the Russian lexicon and one of the most known definitions of our current life. Perhaps it's not accidental, for such creative achievements always push our country forward. What you made, already way long ago, is a brilliant example of how it was possible, by using only one's own resources, to create a brilliant weapon model, that would be used both at home and in many countries abroad for decades.

4. President Dmitry Medvedev, speaking Russian:
As a matter of fact, history has not often known phenomena like you have been creating. I mean not only the AK-47 assault rifle as such but also the national brand every Russian citizen is proud of, the feeling of participation, of history and an urge to work for the future.

The Russian Tomb of the Unknown is just outside the Kremlin. The Changing of the Guard ceremony is fascinating in every country. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (Могила Неизвестного Солдата in Russian, [mɐˈɡʲilə nʲɪɪˈzvʲɛsnəvə sɐlˈdatə]) is a war memorial, dedicated to the Soviet soldiers killed during World War II. It is located at the Kremlin Wall in the Alexander Garden in Moscow.
The remains of the unknown soldiers killed in the Battle of Moscow in 1941 were initially buried in a mass grave of the Shtyki Memorial at the 40th km of the Leningrad highway at the city of Zelenograd. This was the location of the closest approach of the German armies to Moscow during the war. To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the battle, in December 1966 these remains were relocated to the Kremlin Wall. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was designed by architects D. I. Burdin, V. A. Klimov, Yu. R. Rabayev and sculptor Nikolai Tomsky, and was unveiled to the public on May 8, 1967. The dark red porphyry monument is decorated with a bronze sculpture of a laurel branch and a soldier's helmet laid upon a banner.
In front of the monument, there is a five-pointed star in a square field of labradorite, which emanates the Eternal Flame from its center. The flame illuminates a bronze inscription Имя твоё неизвестно, подвиг твой бессмертен (translit.: Imya tvoyo neizvestno, podvig tvoy bessmerten, Your name is unknown, your deed is immortal). The torch for the memorial's Eternal Flame was transported from Leningrad, where it had been lit from the Eternal Flame at the Field of Mars.
To the left of the tomb is a granite wall with an inlay stating: 1941 - To Those Who Have Fallen For The Motherland - 1945. To the right of the tomb, lining the walkway are dark red porphyry blocks with incapsulated soils from hero cities, Leningrad, Kiev, Stalingrad, Odessa, Sevastopol, Minsk, Kerch, Novorossiysk, Tula and Brest, Murmansk and Smolensk. The plate for “Stalingrad” read “Volgograd” until September 2004. Further to the right of these monuments is an obelisk in red granite, listing the names of 40 “Cities of Military Glory” divided into groups of four. This monument was dedicated on May 8, 2010.
In 1997, a Guard of Honour of the Kremlin Regiment (which had guarded the Lenin Mausoleum) was restored at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier by the federal law of December 8, 1997, On Immortalizing the Soviet People’s Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. A Changing of the Guard Ceremony takes place every hour.

Человек после войны / Man after war

Russian politician Zhirinovsky funny interview (English subs)
FOR SUBTITLES TURN CAPTIONS (CC) ON.
RECOMMENDED to read the introduction of the description.
This video is an interview of Zhirinovsky at newspaper and radio station ''Komsomolskaya pravda''.
This is one of the funniest Zhirinovsky's interview. Mainly because of the fragment of this interview where he spoke about various topical subjects. He actually speaks his mind here, and even uses some inappropriate language. I think, he don't actually care, but it's funny.
2 main subjects of this interview are situation in Syria, and elections for Moscow mayor. He gives his evaluation about them, of course. He also speaks about immigrants problem, and some other subjects.
So have fun, and have a few laughs.
This interview was made on: 31/08/2013.

Remarks:
1. In Russia we have an expression, ''these was only flowers, berries will come later''. That means it's like you didn't see anything yet, this was not a big deal, the main events, the real thing will come later.
2. He mentions some unknown politicians, so I addjusted their names so you can easily find it in Google and see their faces or read about them (not that anyone would want to, but just in case).
3. In Russian word ''apple'' is ''yа́bloko''. The party's name is suppose to be YaBL, and if you switch some letters places, it would be ''blyа́'', which doesn't exactly mean ''fuck'', but it's the closest.
4. Alе́shka is diminutive for Alexei. Usually kids are called like this.
5. If you are curious this is the song (1996):
Олег Газманов / Oleg Gazmanov - Москва / Moskau
This is its Youtube name.
6. Poetry:
Eng: Alexander Sergeievich Pushkin - Moscow... what surge that sound can start In every Russian's inmost heart!
Rus: Александр Сергеевич Пушкин - Москва! Как много в этом звуке...
(1823 - 1831)
7. Desemberers are called the people who organized, initiated and participated in revolution in, at that time, Russian Empire on Desember 1905.
8. In Russian, the words ''strange'' and ''shitty'' are very similar. They sound like this: strange - strа́nniy, shitty - srа́niy.
9. Also, the word ''old'' souds kinda similar to ''shitty'' as well - stа́riy.
10. ''Dad'' or ''daddy'' is how people calling Lukashenko in Russian speaking countries. I guess because he is strict like a father can be sometimes.
Thanks for watching!

The Great Gildersleeve: Eve's Mother Stays On / Election Day / Lonely GIldy
The Great Gildersleeve (1941--1957), initially written by Leonard Lewis Levinson, was one of broadcast history's earliest spin-off programs. Built around Throckmorton Philharmonic Gildersleeve, a character who had been a staple on the classic radio situation comedy Fibber McGee and Molly, first introduced on Oct. 3, 1939, ep. #216. The Great Gildersleeve enjoyed its greatest success in the 1940s. Actor Harold Peary played the character during its transition from the parent show into the spin-off and later in a quartet of feature films released at the height of the show's popularity.
On Fibber McGee and Molly, Peary's Gildersleeve was a pompous windbag who became a consistent McGee nemesis. You're a haa-aa-aa-aard man, McGee! became a Gildersleeve catchphrase. The character was given several conflicting first names on Fibber McGee and Molly, and on one episode his middle name was revealed as Philharmonic. Gildy admits as much at the end of Gildersleeve's Diary on the Fibber McGee and Molly series (Oct. 22, 1940).
He soon became so popular that Kraft Foods—looking primarily to promote its Parkay margarine spread — sponsored a new series with Peary's Gildersleeve as the central, slightly softened and slightly befuddled focus of a lively new family.
Premiering on August 31, 1941, The Great Gildersleeve moved the title character from the McGees' Wistful Vista to Summerfield, where Gildersleeve now oversaw his late brother-in-law's estate and took on the rearing of his orphaned niece and nephew, Marjorie (originally played by Lurene Tuttle and followed by Louise Erickson and Mary Lee Robb) and Leroy Forester (Walter Tetley). The household also included a cook named Birdie. Curiously, while Gildersleeve had occasionally spoken of his (never-present) wife in some Fibber episodes, in his own series the character was a confirmed bachelor.
In a striking forerunner to such later television hits as Bachelor Father and Family Affair, both of which are centered on well-to-do uncles taking in their deceased siblings' children, Gildersleeve was a bachelor raising two children while, at first, administering a girdle manufacturing company (If you want a better corset, of course, it's a Gildersleeve) and then for the bulk of the show's run, serving as Summerfield's water commissioner, between time with the ladies and nights with the boys. The Great Gildersleeve may have been the first broadcast show to be centered on a single parent balancing child-rearing, work, and a social life, done with taste and genuine wit, often at the expense of Gildersleeve's now slightly understated pomposity.
Many of the original episodes were co-written by John Whedon, father of Tom Whedon (who wrote The Golden Girls), and grandfather of Deadwood scripter Zack Whedon and Joss Whedon (creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog).
The key to the show was Peary, whose booming voice and facility with moans, groans, laughs, shudders and inflection was as close to body language and facial suggestion as a voice could get. Peary was so effective, and Gildersleeve became so familiar a character, that he was referenced and satirized periodically in other comedies and in a few cartoons.
