XC Ride: Mt Wilson Non-Stop Descent, Los Angeles Mountain Biking
This has to be my favorite mountain bike ride in Southern California. From the Eaton Saddle Trail Head, it's a short climb and then it's all downhill for 4000 ft. I climbed via the Mt Wilson Toll Rd from Pasadena (link to map below). It's a long grind, but the part shown in the video can be shuttled.
The fire road is easy to coast down all the way to the bottom and there are optional single tracks for various skill levels. As much as it can be challenging for death-defying experts, it's also appropriate for beginners when they stay on the large path. Sunset Trail and El Prieto are great challenging single tracks for intermediates. Upper and Middle Sam Merrell are expert trails with a lot of exposure to cliffs. I skipped Upper Sam Merrell (on the left at 4:52) because it's a bit too sketchy when clipped-in on the cross-country bike. When riding it though, it's almost all single tracks all the way to the bottom. A trail bike is recommended!

Ya Have To Ride A Wilson To Really Know | Mountain Biking Los Angeles
It's real hard to cram a 3hr long descent into one video and I feel that this ride of The Mt Wilson awesomeness deserves a double edition so we continue the epic ride on today's episode from where we left off in the last.
Riding through the mountains here I felt like I was in some kind of Wild West but instead of riding big bulky horses we were upon steeds of Carbon and metal. It was a real amazing experience and one of those rides that you serve to high 5 yourself for making it down alive.
There are some parts of the trail with some real exposure and if you happen to go off you may DIE and although they are short sections you should be attentive when riding here, especially if you are not fit. The fatigue could get to you and mistakes can happen so just be aware, be safe and STAY FIT.
Now, if you are in the Pasadena/Altadena area or if you are even somewhere in California then you got to go check this trail out. It was one of those bucket list rides foe me and probably the only Alpine kind of riding you will get in close to LA.

The Epic Gabrielino Trail | San Gabriel Mountains | Los Angeles Mountain Biking
The Gabrielino Trail was recently reopened in its entirety thanks to the efforts of some 100 trail building volunteers. Please show them your gratitude for these amazing trails with a thank you comment below.
Riding with John Nobil in the video. He's a fast XC racer and a trail builder. On our way up, we bumped into no other than the Chief Restoration Officer Steve Messer of CORBA. He explained to us how has been working on this restoration project for the past 7 years and was finally going out on a ride that day to enjoy the fruits of his labor.
The trail was pristine. The conditions were all-time. It’s the best riding in Los Angeles.
If your are interested in learning how to build trails and lending a hand, make sure to follow CORBA →

Mental Trail In Los Angeles | Mountain Biking MT Lowe

This bucket list ride has been on my mind ever since I watched Brian Kennedy aka BKXC make his way down the 3+ hour ride trailing around Mt Lowe in Altadena. What's brilliant is I get to ride it with the same YouTuber that took Brian down here, Tommy Huynh.
We hitched the $20 shuttle ride from Mt Wilson MTB Adventures to the top of the road. There is still a bit of climbing to do after the shuttle but it's not that far to get to the start of the descent, which goes on for miles.

El Prieto Mountain Bike Trail - Full Pull.
I've only ridden El Prieto once, but it was one of the funnest trails I've ridden. This trail keeps you on your toes as it takes you through constantly varying terrain. With tight and rocky switchbacks, fast flowing sections, sem-steep rock gardens, stream crossings, and more, El Prieto delivers all the good things that a classic canyon trail can offer.
This is a full-pull, so you get to see the full trail from where it splits from Fern Truck Trail to where it drops you at the start of the Brown Mountain climb.
I didn't climb Brown to get to El Prieto as this was the end of a loop that had taken us up Echo Mountain, down Sunset Ridge Trail, and the finally to El Prieto.
I hope you dig this full-pull.
Check out my OTB shirts!

Nett & Sonny's Mountain Bike Ride
Mountain biking in the Angeles Crest Forest just above the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena. This route used to be all fire road but after last years fires it had a bunch of landslides, then the rain came and there were mud slides. The route has turned into a more technical route with a lot of single track, rutts, and loose gravel and sand. It was my first time back here in over a year and although the area is supposed to be closed we decided to try it any way. I took a crash when my front wheel got caught in a rutt, and I did a supergirl over the bike...Good Stuff! Got right back on and finished the ride. My 13 year old son really impressed me with his riding. He hung in there for the up hill and really enjoyed the down hill.
Mt Lowe / Mt Wilson mountain biking Sam Merrill DH trail June 9, 2014
Took the SCOA shuttle with Kevin. It was hotter than usual so we skipped the top section and took the fire road to Sam Merrill. At the beginning of the trail Poodle Dog bush has grown out on both sides (4ft tall bush with purple flowers) do not touch them as they itch worse than poison ivy. First time riding Schwalbe Hans Dampf Super Gravity on the rear, replaced my 2.4 Nobby Nics and it is definitely better, the NN had a dead spot when leaned over and was too sketchy for me. The HDs hooked up all day and noticeably more stable on the rock gardens.
Mountain Bike Descent of Brown's Trail
This is some of the descent of the loop that starts at Brown's Creek trailhead and goes up through Galena Creek Park to the top and back down.
Horse Trail (almost) Wet
The first ride on my trail bike in 2018! It was hibernating. But poor bike, it probably thought we were still in winter today.
I wasn't expecting rain when I rolled out that morning. But apparently, a rain cloud got stuck in the hill and made the trails all rad.
This is a fun short segment often overlooked by those not riding up to Sullivan Canyon from Sunset Blvd. And going up it's a good practice on a tough technical climb.

Time lapse from a few weeks ago. Couldn't post this because someone was on a bike that wasn't released to the public yet...and now it has been.
El Prieto Mountain Biking
Took us a few attempts but we finally broke the 10min barrier .. Aside from a near crash and a tree branch slowing us down, it felt good finishing strong. I threw a track in there after getting bored of hearing myself breathe. Enjoy.

Mt Lukens Trail Part 1
9-23-2016
In this video I took a good friend of mine out on a demo ride on the HaiBikes. We decided to hit a trail we both never been to before. We picked a trail with a long steep rocky climb with a nice single track down Sister Elsies Trail. We then climbed up and then made our way down the path to Gabrielino with a few crashes and falls and a few run in's with trees and bushes we had a ton of fun and a great adventure. Thank you for watching and remember to like and subscribe for more of my videos.
