Philippines vlog #5: Mt. Maculot, Batangas
Spontaneous trips are the best! Going up Mt. Maculot and the Rockies were definitely a challenge. I came home with a couple bruises from slipping and falling. It took my family and I about 2 hours to get to the top because we stopped at every rest area LOL. I think it took us about the same time to get down. Either way it was a lot of fun!

My First Time Hiking | Mount Maculot | Cuenca Batangas
Mount Maculot is one of the few mountains when it comes to climbing and one of the visited mountains especially during weekends and holy week. There are many mountaineers or travelers like us who love to explore this place. It was not difficult for us to get to this place as it was just close to Metro Manila. Mount Maculot is located in the town of Cuenca in Batangas province. So we challenged ourselves to climb this mountain. It has three options for climbing, first is the Mt. Maculot - Rockies with 706+ MASL miles above sea level, the second is their Mt. Maculot - Summit with 930 MASL and the last their Mt. Maculot - Grotto with 510 MASL.

Mt. Maculot (930 MASL) is located in Cuenca, Batangas. With 4/9 difficulty level, this mountain is perfect for a day hike adventure that offers an impressive view of Taal Lake.
Mt. Maculot has three destinations: (1) Rockies, (2) Summit, and (3) Grotto.
How to go there:
BY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION:
From Buendia or Cubao, take a bus bound to Lemery, Batangas and get off at Cuenca town proper. Bus fare costs Php148 per head. From drop-off, ride a tricycle going to the Mountaineer’s Store, the jump off point. Drivers usually charge Php35 per head. On the way to the jump off point, ask the tricycle driver for a quick stop at the barangay outpost for the registration (Php20 per head).
BY PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION
From Manila, take SLEX then Star Tollway going to Batangas and exit at Tambo, Lipa City. From Tambo exit, turn left taking JP Laurel Highway. Turn right before Phoenix Gas Station and follow straight the National Highway going to Cuenca town proper. From the town proper, I encourage to ask the locals for more accurate directions to the registration site and the Mountaineer’s store or better yet use Waze. You can set the destination to Mountaineer’s Store, Cuenca, Batangas.

Mt. Maculot | Rockies Cuenca Batangas | Philippines 2017
I spent the weekend climbing Mt.Maculot in Batangas, Philippines with one of my officemates, Kim. The trail was short but surely challenging with steep and muddy terrains. At some point, you will be required to rappelling down and transfer to another rope in mid-way. Check the weather before you go since view from Rockies point might be covered by fog. Overall, it was quite a fun experience . Cheers!

February 25,2018 My 4th Hike Journey at Mt.Maculot.
I wasn't expecting that Mt.Maculot will be as BEAUTIFUL as it can be! Grabe! Hindi ganun kaganda sa picture but in REALITY! 10000000 PERCENT talaga sulit yung pag-akyat mo sa tuktok!
I've done TRAVERSE hike which is from one point to another. I took the traverse without expecting again na ganun kataas yung aakyatin. 930 METERS ABOVE SEA LEVEL.
So, paakyat pa lang kahit sementado yung daanan nakakahingal talaga ng sobra. Then start ng trekking puro assault . 13 na tindahan ang palatandaan na malapit na kayo sa CAMPING SITE. yung pang 13th stop over is 5mins nlng matatanaw na ung ROCKIES . Pero 15mins pa bago marating ung tuktok.
Sa rockies matatanaw nyo yung bunganga mismo ng TAAL yung makikita nyo. After nun aakyat ulit kayo papunta na ng SUMMIT kung saan nandoon yung MT.MACULOT SIGNAGE.
after sa summit, lalakad ulit pababa.. Grabe yung RAPELLING .SULIT!!As in grabe SULIT! hindi ko navideohan kase mahirap. Kailangan grabe yung pag-hawak mo.. kagaya kung gaano ako kahigpit sa jowa ko.. charot. (No,im not)
Tapos lalakad ulit pataas..kung saan makikita ang grotto.
Pagbaba ng Grotto, may stairway to Heaven don hahaha. Nakita nyo naman sa video ko.Kaso hindi gaano nakuha lobat na kasi ako.
Hindi ako sure kung ilang stations meron sa grotto pero kapag pababa makikita nyo yung 1st Station tapos doon na yung pinakababa. May mga sakayan na ng Tricycle doon papunta sa sakayan ng Jeep to Lipa, Sm Lipa and Grand Terminal.
So ayun lang. !!! Sana nagustuhan nyo ang video ko.
