1969 Alan Mann Holman Moody Ford Can Am Car
Alan Mann - Holman Moody Restoration Project
The current owner-racer wanted to race the original car in
national vintage race series but would have required updating
the car significantly. This required stripping it of original parts, including the original Blue Streak Goodyear tires mounted on magnesium rims originally found on the car after it was pulled from racing by Holman Moody and Ford Motor Company.
It was decided for historical preservation reasons that Rhine Built
restore the original just as it was built by Alan Mann and his race team. Rhine Built was then asked to build an exact replica utilizing the original molds and tooling as well as recruiting help from Alan Mann racing. Rhine Built also sought guidance from Holman Moody race team member and noted car builder Kenny Thompson. Thus, preserving the original car just as it raced in 1969.
The car seen on the track in this video is the race version
replica. It can be seen racing nationally in the
50 Year Celebration of CanAm across the United States.
The original car will be on display at the
North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame in Mooresville NC.
A special thanks to Don Miller
(President-Founder-Penske Racing South-Retired)
For his expert guidance in helping to put the team
together that brought these cars to life.
We also would like to say Thank You to all other parties
involved that helped to get these cars restored and built.
Your dedication with this project truly helped to preserve
a significant piece of motor sports history.

The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) is a family owned and operated business venture that sanctions and governs multiple auto racing sports events. It was founded by Bill France, Sr. in 1947--48. As of 2009, the CEO for the company is Brian France, grandson of Bill France, Sr.[1] NASCAR is the largest sanctioning body of stock car racing in the United States.[2] The three largest racing series sanctioned by NASCAR are the Sprint Cup Series, the Nationwide Series, and the Camping World Truck Series. It also oversees NASCAR Local Racing, the Whelen Modified Tour, the Whelen All-American Series, and the NASCAR iRacing.com Series. NASCAR sanctions over 1500 races at over 100 tracks in 39 US states and Canada. NASCAR has presented exhibition races at the Suzuka and Motegi circuits in Japan, Mexico, and Calder Park Raceway in Australia.[3]
NASCAR's headquarters are located in Daytona Beach, Florida, although it also maintains offices in four North Carolina cities; Charlotte, Mooresville, Concord, and Conover.[4] Regional offices are also located in New York City, Los Angeles, Bentonville, Arkansas, and international offices in Mexico City and Toronto. Additionally, owing to its Southern roots, all but a handful of NASCAR teams are still based in North Carolina, especially near Charlotte.
NASCAR is second only to the National Football League among professional sports franchises in terms of television ratings in the United States.[5] Internationally, NASCAR races are broadcast in over 150 countries.[6] In 2004 NASCAR's Director of Security stated that NASCAR holds 17 of the top 20 regularly attended single-day sporting events in the world.[7] NASCAR has 75 million fans who purchase over $3 billion annually[citation needed] in licensed products. Fortune 500 companies sponsor NASCAR more than any other motor sport,[8] although this has been in decline since the early 2000s.[9]

2018 Hendrick Motorsports
January 19, 2018
Hendrick Motorsports
Concord, NC
'William Byron's Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Rookie Year'
Rick Hendrick in 2014 opened up an Auto Mall on Bruton Smith Blvd in Concord, NC adjacent to Hendrick Motorsports. At the same time a road was built from the boulevard at the Auto Mall to the Hendrick Motorsports campus for a new entrance which has a guardhouse. Prior to this, the only way to get into Hendrick Motorsports was on a road called Stowe Ln which runs off of Morehead Road. That entrance still exists today which is used by the car haulers.
Nineteen days into the new year and just after a recent snowfall, Chase Elliott's new #9 has replaced Kasey Kahne's old #5 on the outside of the race shop shared by the #24, which will now be driven by William Byron. The reflecting pool outside the race shops that was built a few years ago is currently turned off due to the freezing temperature. The pool has each name of each person, along with Bible verses, in the Hendrick Motorsports family that lost their life in the 2004 plane crash.
William Byron at 3:28 walks out the front door of the shop to his truck in the parking lot. Once inside Elliott's and Byron's shop in the lobby is Jeff Gordon's 2005 NASCAR Nextel (Monster Energy NASCAR) Cup Series 2005 Aaron's 499 winning car (#24 Pepsi Star Wars Episode III Revenge Of The Sith DuPont Chevrolet Monte Carlo), which is still on display just inside the front door as it has been for many years. Behind Gordon's car are Elliott and Byron's cars for the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, but they both are a 2017 Chevrolet SS and not the new 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. Per a Hendrick Motorsports employee, they were unable to put the new Camaro on display because parts for it right now are hard to find and the shop is running behind with getting new cars ready, so they could not use a Camaro for display at this time. Therefore, they put the new paint schemes that will be on the Camaro on the Chevrolet SS from last year to be put on display in the lobby for the time being.
Once back outside, the Hendrick Performance (location of Rick Hendrick's private classic car collection) building can be seen, which has been on the campus for many years along with the new Axalta Customer Experience Center. The Axalta building, behind the pond and the Performance Training Field, opened in 2017. The flags on the field have also been replaced for the new year, with one of them having Elliott's #9 on it.
